Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Augustine was born in Norton, Kan. She married Ron Augustine in 1967 at Norton. They moved to Pampa in 1975. She worked for the Gray County Tax Assessor's office for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Eastern Star rites will be by Pampa Chapter 65 Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery at Groom. Mrs. Jones was born in Sulphur, Okla., and had lived in Pampa most of her life. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Pampa, of Pampa Chapter 65 Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Nurses Auxiliary and was a former member of the Lace & Leather Riding Club. She was a licensed vocational nurse at Highland General Hospital from the time it opened until her retirement in 1975. She married James Lewis Bowers in 1926. He died in 1952. She later married Alvin Lester Jones. He died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a son, James Bowers, in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Leona Stamps of Panhandle; a brother, Bobby Audrey Rose of Norman, Okla.; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Reddell was born in McAlester, Okla., and had lived in Bartlesville for 52 years. She moved to Borger 21/2 years ago. She was a housewife and was retired from the telephone company and public service TRW. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1986 and a son, Gordon Reddell in 1991. Survivors include a son, Pat Reddell of West Colombia; a daughter, Pam Casey of Borger; a sister, Katherine Ward of McAlester; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Don W. Redding WHEELER - Don W. Redding died Thursday, May 22, 1997, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Allison United Methodist Church at Allison with the Rev. He was a longtime resident of Springer, N.M., before moving to Wheeler two months ago. He was a rancher and also was involved in construction. He was a former member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol. He married Josephine McDonald in 1941 at Albuquerque, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Redding of Canadian; a son, Joel Redding of Helena, Mont.; and three grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Frances Barks TULIA - Frances Barks, 85, a former Tulia resident, died Monday, May 19, 1997, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery with Andy and Janell Blair, pastors of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Ms. Barks was born in Mineral Wells. She grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's of science in education. She taught in Plainview for a few years and then moved to Upland, Calif., and taught for 37 years in the Kookamunga School District. She retired in the late 1980s and moved to Idaho Falls. She was a Presbyterian and a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a brother, Guy Barks of Wimberley. David Frank Hodges STINNETT - David Frank Hodges, 46, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel at Borger with the Rev. Scott Cundiff, pastor of Trinity Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Mr. Hodges was born in Canton, Miss. He had been a Stinnett resident since 1993, moving from Lubbock. He retired as a police officer for Texas Tech University in Lubbock and had also taught police training courses there. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a Ham radio operator. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jettice, in 1992; and an infant daughter in 1992. Survivors include a stepson, Quinn Martin of Conroe; two brothers, Gary Hodges and Mike Hodges, both of Borger; five sisters, Jeanie Pomeroy and Phyllis Hodges, both of Stinnett, Kay Hebert of Borger, Debra Hooten of Bastrop and Pam Jones of Mena, Ark.; and two grandchildren. Hugh Roden Jr. KRESS - Hugh Roden Jr., 69, died Friday, May 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Kress First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeffery Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Kress Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Roden was born and raised in Bynum and graduated from Bynum High School in 1944. He served in the Merchant Marines and in the Army in Okinawa. He was discharged in 1952 and moved to Plainview, where he began working with Santa Fe Railway. He worked in Plainview and as an agent in Kress. He retired in 1989, after 42 years. He married Wilma Inez Hager in 1953 at Okmulgee, Okla. He moved to Kress in 1969. He was a member of and usher at First Baptist Church. He was a member and past master at Tulia Masonic Lodge 733 and Plainview Masonic 709. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Kress School Board and the Tulia Country Club Board. He moved to Amarillo in 1924 and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1929. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and served in the Army Air Force. They moved to Andrews 30 years ago from Frankel City. He was a plant operator for Phillips and worked for them for 35 years before retiring in 1992. He had served in the Navy. He was a farmer and a rancher. He was a member of the Living Word in Fellowship in Guymon. Arrangements are by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Okla. Mr. Ramirez was born in Santa Rosa, N.M. He enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater, aboard a battleship. He married Patsy Jean Gill in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. They made their home in Amarillo and Pampa, where he worked for Gilven and Terrel and Ivan Dement Road Construction Companies. In 1966, they moved to Higgins. He did upholstery and furniture recovering out of his home for several years. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny. Burial will be at Mulberry Cemetery near Sweetwater, Okla., by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodges was born in Wheeler. While she lived in Wheeler, she was employed as a cook in the Nicholson Hospital and later worked as a waitress. She later moved to Sayre, Okla., where she lived in concept housing. She returned to Wheeler from Sayre in 1992. She was a member of the Christian Center Church. She married John Charles Hodges in 1969 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Paula Sue Jones of Wheeler; a stepson, Bill Hodges of San Jose, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Jenny Carol of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Dawson of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was born in Foard County. He had lived in Motley County for about five years and moved from Motley County to Donley County in 1909. He married Mary Ruth Francis in 1939 at Francis Community. She died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Patton of Silverton; a son, Larry West of Dripping Springs; two brothers, G.F. Lorena Dell Willis SILVERTON - Lorena Dell "Myrt'' Willis, 88, died Friday, May 23, 1997 in Tulia. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Roark, chaplain of Baptist St. Anthony's Health System in Amarillo, and the Rev. Randy Thomas, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Silverton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Willis was born in Coleman County. When she was young, she moved to Roaring Springs and to White Flats. She then moved to New Mexico by wagon train. She rode horseback, helping herd cattle during the move. She started school in New Mexico. Her family returned to White Flats when she was 13 years old. She operated a mercantile store. She married Bill Edwards in 1934 at Oklahoma. He died in 1981. Survivors include a son, Harold Edwards of Vigo Park; a sister, Flora Lee; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Raymond H. Ramsey HOOKER - Raymond H. Ramsey, 80, died Friday, May 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Gospel of Grace Church with the Rev. Gary Wiens officiating. Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Ramsey was born in Hutchinson, Kan. In 1919, his family bought farm land in the Hooker area, where he lived, farmed, ranched and raised his family. He attended elementary school at Buffalo School and graduated from Hooker High School with the class of 1936. He married Ninetta Kennedy in 1940 at Hooker. She died in 1994. They farmed together and in 1954, he worked part time for Natural Gas Company. In 1956, he began working full time for 20 years. He drove a school bus for Hooker Schools for five years. He retired from farming after the fall harvest of 1996. He earned his electrical certificate and wired many houses in the area as well as the educational building at the Gospel of Grace Church. He was a member and trustee of the Gospel of Grace Church. He was a longtime member of Texas County Mineral Owners Board, a member of Guymon TV Translator Board since its inception, and the Hooker Senior Citizens. Survivors include a son, Harlan Ramsey of Hooker; three daughters, Ladene Beer of Guymon, Ilene Hammack of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Joan Palmgren of Satanta, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He grew up in Hooker and graduated from Hooker High School with the class of 1933. He then attended Panhandle State College and the University of Oklahoma. He married Imogene Wilson in 1941 at Hooker. They lived and farmed in Hooker all of their lives together. For 33 years, he was a member and at different times he was president of the Hooker Board of Education. He was a member of the Hooker Golf Club and helped build the first grass green on the course. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church. In 1940, he petitioned the Hooker Lodge, initiated and entered apprentice, and passed to degree of Fellowcraft, and was raised to Master Mason. He became a 32 degree Scottish Rite in 1945, served as master of Hooker Lodge in 1944, and he received a 50-year membership pin for both a Mason and Scottish Rite. He was also a lodge member for 57 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom W. Metcalf of Fort Collins, Colo., and John R. Metcalf of Hooker; two sisters, Mary Lou Pack of Oklahoma City, and Ann Watts of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson. The family requests memorials be to Thomas P. New Mexico Nelda Jean Smith TUCUMCARI - Nelda Jean Smith, 53, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller, minister, officiating. Members of the New Mexico State Police will serve as active bearers, and as Honor Guard. Burial will be at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Tucumcari. She attended school in Tucumcari. She had recently returned to Tucumcari after living in various New Mexico cities for the past 30 years. She had been employed by various newspapers in the advertising departments. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Jerry B. Smith of Tucumcari; two daughters, Connie Jo Gant of Hobbs, and Susan Kay Zumwalt of Roswell; a brother, Terry Neal Ramsey of Deer Park, Texas; three sisters, Pat Sparks of Tucumcari, Linda Stevens of Pittsburg, Texas, and Nita Sue Ramsey of Salt Lake City; and three grandchildren.
