Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Rice of Bykota Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Beveridge was born in Henryetta, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1951. He worked for the helium plant from 1952 until retiring in 1974. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Lillie Newberry in 1933 at Henryetta. She died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Wiggins of Amarillo; a son, Bill Beveridge; a brother, Kenneth Beveridge; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4804 Morning Drive. Jim B. Woodard Jim B. Woodard, 79, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Crumpton and the Rev. Carol Crumpton officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mr. Woodard was born near Kirkland in Childress County. He served in the 36th Division during World War II. He moved from Wichita Falls to Amarillo in 1948. He worked as an auto mechanic, a car and truck salesman, a truck driver and a law enforcement officer. He managed The Gun Rack for 11 years before retiring. Mr. Woodard was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, the Los Amores Sunday School class and the Sunrise Lions. He also was a member and past president of the High Plains Chapter of the 36 Division Association. He married Mary E. Branham in 1942 at Lawton, Okla. Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Steven Woodard of Canyon, Mark Lee Woodard of Amarillo and Tom Dean Woodard of Grand Prairie; two daughters, Judy Tolk and Lenis Sisco, both of Amarillo; four brothers, Jess T. Woodard of Amarillo, Ray Woodard and Gene Woodard, both of Ralls, and Earl Woodard of Childress; and six sisters, Bertha Williams of Childress, Grace Daniel and Bessie Cope, both of Amarillo, Pearl Carpenter of Clovis, N.M., Betty Jo Carpenter of Muleshoe and Ruth Caddell of Ralls; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Crown of Texas Hospice. The body will be available for viewing this morning at the funeral home. Alice Cope Porter Alice Cope Porter, 78, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Loyalty Sunday School class at First Christian Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Porter was born in Peru, Neb. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in history and English. She taught school for three years in Dumas and one year in Matador. She moved to Amarillo in 1978 and worked at the public library until retiring in 1985. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Panhandle Pen Women and the Business and Professional Women. She was a former member of the Registered Graphoanalysis Society. She was an accomplished pianist, cellist, writer and poet. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Loyalty Sunday School class, for whom she played the piano. Survivors include a son, Randy Porter of Houston. The body will not be available for viewing. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association, 2404 W. 7th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Ruth A. Webb Ruth A. Webb, 81, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church Chapel with Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Millersburg, Pa. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Webb was born in Millersburg. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1938. She worked as a dietitian at the Pittsburgh Veteran's Hospital. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo since 1955. She married Edwin Webb in 1940. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kay Williams of Dallas and Martha Thomas of Manns Choice, Pa.; a brother, Quinton Novinger of Williamsport, Pa.; a sister, Rita Fox of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Elsewhere Herbert Brasher Sr. LUBBOCK - Herbert Brasher Sr., 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Brasher was born in Monroe, La., and grew up in Roswell, N.M. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1939 and was licensed to practice architecture in Texas, New Mexico and California. In 1954, Mr. Brasher founded the firm that would become BGR Architects-Engineers. He designed at least 200 projects during a career that spanned five decades. His early projects became Lubbock landmarks, including First Baptist Church and St. Paul's on the Plains Episcopal Church. His concentration, however, was on schools. Among those he designed were Estacado High School and Ed Irons and Wilson junior high schools in Lubbock and Randall High School and Valleyview Junior High School in Amarillo. He also designed Georgetown, Levelland and Brownfield high schools and several buildings on the campus of Wayland Baptist University including Harral Memorial Auditorium and the Van Howeling Library. Mr. Brasher designed office buildings for several rural electric cooperatives as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety's regional headquarters in Lubbock, the M.K. Brown Civic Auditorium in Pampa and Deaf Smith County Library in Hereford. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Texas Society of Architects, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International. Mr. Brasher was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. He served on the board of the Red Sea Mission Team, an international missionary organization, and also was active in the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship. He married Marie Somers in 1941. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julie Duncan of Lubbock; two sons, Herbert Brasher Jr. of Friedrichshafen, Germany, and Philip Brasher of Falls Church, Va.; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lita Witt DALLAS - Lita Witt, 96, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, in Clarksville. Services will be at noon today in Laurel Land Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Ms. Witt was born in Wheeler and had been a longtime resident of Dallas. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ. Survivors include three sisters, Bonnie Witt King, Stella Witt Carver and Margaret Opal Arnet; and a friend, Mildred Chitwood Lynn. The family requests memorials be to the Lita Witt Music Foundation. Marvin E. DeShazor ALLEN - Marvin E. DeShazor, 72, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo with Windell Taylor, chaplain at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Arrangements are by Earnheart Funeral Home in Whitewright. Mr. DeShazor was born in Alexandria, La. He retired from the Air Force. He was Baptist. He married his wife, Eunice, in 1959 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara D. Juergens and Janis Lynn Moriarty, both of Allen; a sister, Verna Walding of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Area Floyd Eubanks HEREFORD - Floyd Eubanks, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. H.W. Bartlett of the church and the Rev. J.L. Bozeman, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Eubanks was born in Mobeetie and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1968. He was a natural gas pipeline maintenance worker. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Temple Baptist Church. He married Paula Jo Cumberledge in 1969 at Lefors. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie Jean Webaser of Joliet, Ill., Deanna Jo Edwards of Hereford and Debra Kay Hix of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pauline Curtis PLAINVIEW - Pauline Boone Curtis, 82, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Neal Unwin, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dimmitt Cemetery in Dimmitt. Mrs. Curtis was born in Floyd County. She was a real estate broker for several years. She was Methodist. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Webster Boone; and by her second husband, Jack Curtis, in 1988. She also was preceded in death by a son and a daughter. Survivors include two nieces including Mary Davis of Plainview; and four nephews including Billy Hembree and Elbert Hembree, both of Plainview. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Julie Anne Sanders Adams SPEARMAN - Julie Anne Sanders Adams, 43, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Russ Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Adams was born in Pilot Point. She had lived in the Spearman area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Kurk Adams in 1977 at Spearman. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Melanie Adams Simmons of Arlington, and Brooke Adams and Amanda Adams, both of Spearman; her parents, Rue and Anne Sanders of Spearman; and a grandson. Orville E. Williamson PLAINVIEW - Orville E. Williamson, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Williamson was born in Howard County, Ark. He grew up in Throckmorton County and attended a rural school in Haskell County. He graduated from Brushing High School and attended Wayland Baptist University on a basketball scholarship. He married Elouise Squyres in 1939 at Anson. He worked in the oil fields of several towns. In 1949, he moved from Levelland to the Happy Union community, where he farmed. He moved to Hereford in 1970 and farmed until 1975, when he retired and moved to Plainview. Mr. Williamson was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He also was a member and past president of the Farm Bureau and had served on the board of directors of Light House Electric in Floydada. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cassaundra Williams of Plainview and Becky Gunther of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Walt Williamson of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time in the parlor of the Family Life Chapel at First Baptist Church.
