Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Wheeler Cemetery at Wheeler. Mrs. Miller was born in South Bend and had been a Pampa resident for 50 years. She was a poet and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen Dale Miller, in 1956. Survivors include a son, Joe Duane Miller of Pampa; a sister, Nettie Vee Guynes of Pampa; a brother, Virgil Jamison of Wheeler; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Bill Jackson BORGER - Bill Jackson, 60, of Pampa, a former Borger resident, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Jackson was born in Waterbury, Vt. He was a Borger resident for 19 years and had been a Pampa resident for two months. He was a retired truck driver and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his mother, Beatrice Jackson of Waterbury; a son, James E. Jackson of Pampa; a daughter, Flora Lee Jackson of Borger; two brothers, Earl Jackson and David Jackson, both of Vergennes, Vt.; a sister, Harriet Gorton of Waterbury; and a grandson. Bertile Pyburn Coats MORTON - Bertile Pyburn Coats, 79, of Peoria, Ariz., a former Morton resident, died Saturday, March 22, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Morton Memorial Cemetery with Jim Pyburn, son and Church of Christ minister from Frisco, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Coats was born in Kiowa County, Okla. She married Kenneth Pyburn in 1933 at Anadarko, Okla. He died in 1973. She married Olin Coats in 1979 at Lubbock. He died in 1981. Mrs. Coats was a resident of Morton until moving to Peoria 12 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Glendale, Ariz. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 25 years and an auxiliary volunteer at Mary Bale Samaritan Hospital in Glendale. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Pyburn of Hobbs, N.M., and Jim Pyburn of Frisco; a daughter, Madge Parsons of Peoria; nine grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. He moved to Pampa in 1947 from Cleburne. He married Jean Wieneskie in 1947 at Cleburne. He graduated from West Texas Barber College in Amarillo. He had been a barber in Pampa for the past 41 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 and the El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory. He was a transportation technician for the Army Air Corps, 1551st Base Unit Southwest Pacific Wing during World War II. He was a life member of the Pampa chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Regina Jones of Pampa and Linda Ladd of Dallas; two brothers, Glenn Ladd of Amarillo and A.K. Ladd of Shamrock; two sisters, Mable Roper of Schulenburg and Fern Bonner of Shamrock; and two grandchildren. Marie Bowen DIMMITT - Marie Bowen, 73, of Hereford, a former Dimmitt resident, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. She lived in Dimmitt until moving to Hereford in 1994. She married George Bowen in 1972 at Canyon. He died in 1993. She had owned and operated Marie's Beauty Shop since 1959. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Castro County Senior Citizens and Plains Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an artist and a volunteer at Kings Manor Nursing Home. Mr. White was born in Parsons, Kan. He graduated from Friona High School in 1937. He served in the Army during World War II. He began working at Plains Hardware in 1945. He retired in 1992. He married Wanda Swain in 1962 at Lubbock. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher and director for many years. He was a volunteer fireman for more than 25 years. He was a former member of the Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances, in 1960; and a son, Carl White, in 1959. Mrs. Miller was born in Kewanee, Ill., and had been a Fritch resident for 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Methodist Church and the Bridge Club. She married James Miller in 1951 at Oklahoma. Edwards, 87, of Colorado City, a former Plainview resident, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Ronnie Hedges, elder from Tokio, and Gayle McCoy, elder from Spade, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Edwards was born and raised in Ellis County. He also was raised in Waynesborough, Tenn. He moved to Plainview in 1944 from Haskell. He married Lela Clayton in 1929 at Haskell. She died in 1988. He married Minnie Louise Dale in 1989 at Plainview. He was ordained as a minister in Primitive Baptist Church in 1942. He pastored at Springlake Primitive Baptist Church for 52 years. He owned and operated a service station at 5th and Juniper in Plainview from 1958 until retiring in 1988. Mr. Edwards moved to Colorado City in 1989 and was serving as pastor of the Colorado City Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clayton Edwards of Plainview; a brother, Herman Edwards of Oxnard, Calif.; a sister, Lorene Lewellen of Dallas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Naomie Ruth Smock BORGER - Naomie Ruth Smock, 96, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Jones, pastor, officiating. She was an art teacher for Borger ISD. She also taught school at Phillips. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Phillips Garden Club, United Methodist Women and the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thacker Smock, in 1977; and a son, Robert Lee Smock, in 1981. Survivors include a nephew, Harry Lee Toon of Indianapolis. Wayne Merwyn Igo PLAINVIEW - Wayne Merwyn Igo, 66, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Igo was born in Ralls. He graduated from Friendship High School and Texas Tech University with a degree in agriculture. He moved to Plainview in 1956 from Lubbock. He married Shirley Brownlow in 1957 at Kenedy. He worked at Halfway Farm Chemical before retiring in 1994. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member and elder of 9th & Columbia Street Church of Christ. He was on the Plainview Hospital board of directors for 30 years and the Hale County Stock Show board of directors. He also was a 4-H Club leader. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Hendricks was born in Wakeeney, Kan. He had lived in the Spearman area for 40 years. He married Nina Gaither in 1944 at Spearman. He owned and operated Don Hendricks Welding in Spearman for many years. He was a member of the Hansford Lodge No. 1040 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Khiva Temple of the Shrine. He moved to Amarillo in 1946 from Fort Worth. He married Claudell Wilson in 1940 at Arlington. He was a veteran of the Army. He worked for ASARCO and the Amarillo Livestock Commission. He retired from ASARCO after 29 years of service and from the Amarillo Livestock Commission after 40 years. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Steve Whitehead of Irving, and Roger Whitehead, Don Whitehead, Chris Whitehead and Oliver Roberts, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Michele Cox of Amarillo; a brother, Thad Whitehead of Tahoka; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Yamaira Rivas of Mexico City and Alicia Rivas of Amarillo; two sons, Salvador Rivas and Marti Rivas, both of Amarillo; a sister, Rebeca Reyes of Mexico City; a brother, Eustacio Rivas of El Paso; and a grandson. Marjorie Lurene Peter Norman Marjorie Lurene Peter Norman, 85, of Amarillo, a former Altus, Okla., resident, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997. Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the city of Altus Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. in Thomas Street Church of Christ with Jack McKeown officiating. Arrangements are by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Mrs. Norman was born near Frederick, Tillman County, Okla. She graduated from high school at Wilson Consolidated School and attended Oklahoma A&M College for two years. She received her bachelor's degree in music education from Southwestern State Teachers College in 1936. She taught first grade for three years in Frederick. During that time, she met J. Dennis Norman, who was a high school teacher in Frederick. They married in 1937. They moved to Altus in 1938. During the next few years, Mrs. Norman taught private piano lessons. She resumed public school teaching in 1947 and taught fifth grade and choral music at Washington School until retiring in 1975 after 34 years of teaching. They moved to Amarillo in 1995. Mrs. Norman was a member of Thomas Street Church of Christ, where she taught Bible class for many years. She was a member of the Gladiolus Flower Club and the Anne Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also was a member of the Jackson County Retired Teacher's Association. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Norman of New York City. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Norman of Amarillo; a brother, William Peter of Frederick; a sister, Beth Carter of Bloomington, Ind.; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. The family will be at the Ramada Inn in Altus. Following the services, the family will receive friends and relatives in the fellowship room. Mrs. Archie was born in Paducah, Texas. She married Henry Archie in 1940. They moved to Clovis in 1953. She was a homemaker and a past member of the Joylight Church of God in Christ at Albuquerque. She also was a past member of and pianist for First Church of God in Christ in Clovis. Survivors include her husband; a son, Vince Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Hester England of Clovis; two brothers, J.R. Riggins of Phoenix and L.C. Riggins of Oregon; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Emma Rodriguez Valdez CLOVIS, N.M. - Emma Rodriguez Valdez, 52, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Ms. Valdez was born in Denero, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1975. She was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Santa Fe. Mr. Spangler was born in Johnstown, Pa., and had been a resident of Clovis since 1958. He married Florence Negast. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 after serving for 26 years. He served during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Pioneer Plumbing until December 1996. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3280 and the Elks Lodge No. 1244. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard H. Spangler of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Brenda Deaton of Austin, Texas, and Valinda Johnson of Altus, Okla.; a sister, Josephine Meyer of Somerset, Pa.; and four brothers, Richard Thomas Spangler, Sydney Spangler, Micah Johnson and Mark Johnson. Mrs. Hilderbrand was born in Claire, Mich., and had been a longtime Guymon resident. She married Alvis Hilderbrand in 1959 at California. He died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by a son, Bob Burns. She was a homemaker and a restaurant cook for several years. She had been a resident of Dunaway Manor in Guymon for the past two years. Survivors include a son, Forrest Burns of Merritt Island, Fla.; a sister, Jean Armentrout; two brothers, Don Armentrout and Clarence Lamphere; and three grandsons. Charlie Pearson, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Dell City, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mr. Warren was born in Texas and moved to Motley County from Childress around 1940. He worked for the Matador Ranch and later operated an abstract and title office in Matador and then in Dickens. He moved to the Crow Flat community near Dell City in 1963. He returned to Dickens in 1993. Mr. Warren wrote numerous articles relating to ranch life. He had written two books about the Matador Ranch and Mill Iron Ranch. He was a member of the Baptist church. He married Ina Williams in 1924 at Childress. She died in 1986. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Lyles, in 1996. Survivors include two sons, John Warren of Dickens and Jerry Warren of Stephenville; two daughters, Joan Edwards of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Jane Latimer of Lubbock; a sister, Kathryn Warren of Truth or Consequences; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Carl Butcher LUBBOCK - Carl Butcher, 84, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the 78th & University Church of Christ with David Minson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Butcher was born in Athens. He married Myrtle Jones in 1935 at Hollis, Okla. He retired as a track foreman for Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976. He then worked for Plainview ISD. He moved to Lubbock in 1981 from Plainview. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wanda Bullion and LaJuan Lamb, both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
