Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery Babyland with the Rev. James M. Mims, pastor of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St. Survivors include her mother and father; a sister, Rejeanay Butler; two brothers, Jamel Brown and Dondre Washington; and grandparents, Ruby Shaw and Shawn Parker. The family will be at 2409 Echo St. Delbert F. Schofield Delbert F. Schofield, 78, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997. Private services will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Schofield was born in Springfield, Mass., and had lived in Amarillo since May. He was a compositor for Brown & Co. of Hartford, Conn. He served with the Army during World War II in the 104th infantry regiment, Yankee Division. He earned the Infantry Badge and received the Purple Heart in 1944 in France. Mr. Schofield married Lois Marie Anderson in 1942 at Springfield. Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald F. Schofield of Amarillo; two daughters, Janet M. Illig of Eliot, Maine, and Betty L. Blodgett of Ashfield, Mass.; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26, P.O. Box 864, Amarillo, Texas 79105. Robert D. Muir Robert "Bob" D. Muir, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with Lyndon Latham and Jim Shelburne, both of the church, officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mr. Muir was born in Weiser, Idaho. He moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Baker, Ore. He was a salesman before retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Mended Hearts Organization. He married Blanche Slater in 1948 at Weiser. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Muir of Carrollton and Robin Muir of Amarillo; two daughters, Ronda Muir of Greenwich, Conn., and Roma Jimenez of Amarillo; two brothers, Don Muir of Medford, Ore., and Jack Muir of Cascade, Idaho; and 10 grandchildren. Dupree Bobby R. Dupree, 66, of 505 S. Dallas St., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Cremation is by Memory Gardens Crematory. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Dupree was born in Mississippi. He moved to Amarillo about three years ago from Heavener, Okla. He retired as a used-car lot owner and a truck driver. He married Effie W. Brumley in 1992 at Gold Hill, Ore. Survivors include his wife; a daughter; two sons; and a brother. The family will be at 505 S. Dallas St. Canyon Nettie Ellen Vick Nettie Ellen Vick, 89, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with Dr. Charles Price, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home Inc. Ms. Vick was born in Childress and had been a resident of Canyon for 65 years. She had been a telephone operator for most of her working years. She was a member of the Baptist church in Childress. Survivors include two nieces, Houstene Reece and Juanita Bank, both of Canyon; and a nephew, Eugene Morris of Canyon. Elsewhere Rose Irene Chesser ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Rose Irene Burns Chesser, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. today in Horan and McConaty Family Chapel at Aurora. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Church of the Risen Christ. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Chesser was born in Perth, Kan. She was a homemaker and a 55-year member of the ladies auxiliary of the United Transportation Union. She married Al H. Chesser in 1940. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Polly Seale of Denver; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. New Mexico Gerald Salazar TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Gerald "Jerry" Salazar, 41, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel of the church. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Salazar was born in Tucumcari and recently had returned there. He was Catholic. Survivors include his mother, Sista Montano of Redwood, Calif.; two brothers, Louis Salazar of Freemont, Calif., and Larry Salazar of Redwood; and his grandmother, Rafaela Jaramillo of Tucumcari. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time. Oklahoma Irene A. Crawford HARDESTY, Okla. - Irene A. Crawford, 85, a former Hardesty resident, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, in Enid. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Hooker with the Rev. Rich Redinger and Eddy Scoggins officiating. Burial will be in Hartville Cemetery at Hardesty by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Crawford was born and raised in Hardesty and attended school there. She made her home in the Hardesty and Hooker area for 81 years before moving to Hooker in 1981. She moved to Fairview in 1993. She married Orley Crawford in 1930 at Guymon. He died in 1979. Mrs. Crawford was a member of United Brethren Church in Hardesty and later attended Apostolic Faith Church in Hardesty. While in Hooker, she attended First Baptist Church. She later attended First United Methodist Church in Fairview. Survivors include a daughter, Ilene Van Meter of Fairview; three sons, Corky Crawford of Hooker, DeWayne Crawford of Springfield, Ill., and Rex Crawford of Woodward; two brothers, Emmitt Hughey of Guymon and Stanley McKinley of Hooker; three stepsisters, Katherine Presley of Rolla, Kan., June Elliott of Amarillo and Georgia Mae Cobble of San Angelo; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa. Mr. Lewis was born in Spring Creek, Hutchinson County, and had lived in Borger most of his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Cathryn Alice Gores in 1931 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dalton Lewis of Pampa and Stanley Lewis of Borger; a daughter, Delores Dees of Corpus Christi; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Ruth Scott DALHART - Ruth Scott, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Billups officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at Santa Fe, N.M. Mrs. Scott was born in Eldorado, Okla., and attended school there. She had lived in Dalhart for the last 31 years. She served in the Army from 1941 to 1942. She worked as a cook. Survivors include two sons, Jim Poyner of Mississippi and John Poyner of Dalhart; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Dixie Bradley DIMMITT - Dixie Bradley, 97, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fourth and Bedford Street Church of Christ with Dean Wiseman, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Bradley was born in Indian Territory. She graduated from Oluste High School in Oluste, Okla. She lived in Tucumcari, N.M., before moving to Dimmitt in 1985. She owned and operated the Tucumcari Motel in Tucumcari from 1954 to 1973. She married G.A. Bradley in 1919 at Quanah. He died in 1973. She also was preceded in death by a son, Weldon Bradley, in 1993. Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Tucumcari Senior Citizens in Tucumcari and Fourth and Bedford Street Church of Christ in Dimmitt. Survivors include three sons, Dent Bradley of Dimmitt, and Harold Bradley and Keith Bradley, both of West Fork, Ark.; two daughters, Anna D. Gibbs of Dimmitt and Emma Lou Hastings of Fruita, Colo.; a sister, Pauline Alldredge of Bullard; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Glee R. Ballard PERRYTON - Glee R. Ballard, 76, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Frank Springer officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Ballard was born in Helena, Okla., and had lived in the Perryton area for 51 years. She was a secretary at First National Bank, where she had worked for more than 25 years. She married Monroe Ballard in 1940 at Cherokee, Okla. He died in 1995. Mrs. Ballard was a member of First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Dana Anderson of Borger and Jana Hams of Grand Junction, Colo.; a son, Darrel Ballard of San Antonio; a sister, Paula Wheatley of Fountain, Colo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First Christian Church piano fund, P.O. Box 1244, Perryton, Texas 79070. Robert Thomps Scott VEGA - Robert Thomps Scott, 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Vega with the Rev. James Peach of the church officiating. Burial will be in Vega Memorial Park Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd., in Amarillo. Mr. Scott was born on the Baker Place southwest of Vega in Oldham County. He attended school at the Scott Schoolhouse. When it closed, he attended the Vega school. He married Jean Linger in 1941. Mr. Scott worked as a cowboy on ranches in Oldham County and New Mexico. He later did mechanical work and farming. He was a member of the original committee for the Oldham County Roundup. He was an Army veteran of World War II, stationed at Fort Louis, Wash. He was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 168, where he had been a member for 54 years. He attended the Baptist church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Roberta LaGrone of Texarkana, Ark., and Rita Bell of Hereford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis with Larry White officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Stewart was born in Evant. She lived in Hall County from 1932 until moving to Hereford in 1991. She was a member of the Baptist church in Evant. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Stewart; and two sons, Oren Stewart and Dean Stewart. Survivors include her children, James Stewart of Midland, Donnie Huddleston of Denton and Melba Patton of Hereford; three sisters, Vivian Gammall of Amarillo, Jessie Alston of Wellington and Dixie Darnell of Perryton; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Hereford Care Center. John A. Weinberg BORGER - John A. "Chuck" Weinberg, 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, in Claude. Mr. Weinberg was born in Ballinger and had been a Borger resident for 60 years. He was a pipeline welder and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a sister, Venola Cooley of Tulsa, Okla. Tina Kirby HIGGINS - Tina Kirby, 35, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel at Plainview with the Rev. Scott Jimenez, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mrs. Kirby was born in Lockney. She grew up in Plainview and Alma, Ark. She attended school in Alma. She moved to Pampa in 1980 and then to Higgins. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Kirby, in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Nikki Nunn of Skellytown; a son, Thomas Ray Kirby of Canadian; her father, Raymond Barker of Amarillo; her mother, Dollie Barker of Plainview; two brothers, Ricky Don Barker of Canyon and Billy Ray Barker of Amarillo; four sisters, Joy Paschal and Caroline Rae Helton, both of Plainview, Emma Lue Tanner of Van Buren, Ark., and Charlotte Kay Gardner of Pampa; her grandfather, Don Price of Plainview; and her grandmother, Edith Lue Watkins of Plainview. Jessie Kitching Coker TURKEY - Jessie Kitching Coker, 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Julius Early, pastor of United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Coker was born in Rocky Face, Ga. She moved to Texas in 1919 to attend college and teach school. She married Garland Coker in 1921. He died in 1981. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalyn Acheson, in 1973. Mrs. Coker was a member of United Methodist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Turkey chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Landry of Arlington and Martha Crumley of Amarillo; a son, Bob Coker of Sedona, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Turkey United Methodist Church or the Dreamland Cemetery Fund. Wendell Gresham FRIONA - Wendell Gresham, 63, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in 6th Street Church of Christ with Leon Talley, pastor, and D.L. Harguess of Friona officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Gresham was born in Newlin. He was a 1953 graduate of Clarendon High School and a 1955 graduate of Clarendon Junior College. He served with the Army from 1957 to 1959. He married Patsy White in 1959 at Quail. Mr. Gresham had been a partner in the Ethridge-Spring Insurance Agency since moving to Friona in 1968. He moved to Friona from Amarillo. He was named Friona's Man of the Year in 1994. He was a member of the Friona Evening Lions Club and had served as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and tail twister. He had been deputy district governor for Lions District 2T1 and had served as zone chairman twice. He was a member of the Lions Crippled Children board of directors for several years. He had been in charge of securing the carnival for Maize Days for the past 26 years. Mr. Gresham served on the chamber of commerce board of directors and was on the board of directors of the hospital district at the time of his death. He had been a member of the Parmer County Community Hospital board since 1980 and had served as president since 1983. He was a member and elder of 6th Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wendy Harris of Amarillo and Sheila Straughan of Hereford; two sisters, Elwanda Wagner of Wildorado and Chloe Ann Rippy of Purcell, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
