Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 E. Ninth Ave. Military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Mr. Ruthrauff was born in Oakland, Calif. He graduated from Valley Forge High School in Parma Heights, Ohio. He was in the Navy from 1970 to 1978, where he attended several training schools: aviation structural school, nondestructive testing school, aviation hydraulic school and personnel management school. He worked as an inspector for A.G. McKee and Stanley Aviation. He worked for IBP Inc., in Management Support in 1996. He was employed by Lowe's in the sales lumber department. He was also a Catholic. He married Clorene Akin this year at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian and Clint Ruthrauff; his parents, James and Erma Ruthrauff of Parma Heights, Ohio; two sisters, Julie Combs of Lubbock, and Linda Henderson of Dallas; two brothers, Ronald Ruthrauff of Bay City, and James Ruthrauff of So Euclid, Ohio; and a grandmother, Ester Perondi of San Leandro, Calif. The body will not be available for viewing. Wallace Caldwell Wallace "Jiggs'' Caldwell, 79, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Windell Taylor, chaplain of the V.A. Hospital, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Caldwell was born in Canadian. He had resided in Amarillo for more than 50 years. He served in the Navy. He was stationed in the Pacific for more three years. He played basketball for the Navy in Australia and the Pacific. He retired in sales from Amarillo Hardware after 25 years of service. He worked with the Boy Scouts and Kids, Inc. He was a member of the PTA at Southlawn and Fannin schools. He was a former member of the American Legion and Golden Spread Gem & Mineral Society. He was a charter member of Washington Avenue Christian Church, where he was first treasurer; in the Men's Class; and sang in the choir. He was also a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital. He married Lela Maggie Callaway in Canadian. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Caldwell. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronnie Caldwell of Amarillo; two brothers; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4436 Parker St. The family requests memorials be to the church of your choice. Elsewhere Geraldine Sawyer HUMBLE - Geraldine Sawyer, 66, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Brookside Funeral Chapel at Houston. Mrs. Sawyer was born in Shreveport, La. She was employed with Binswanger Glass Co. Survivors include two daughters, Kim Cooper of Lake Dallas, and Terri Wells of Humble; two sisters, Mary Fontenot and Bertha Cunningham, both of Pineville, La.; a brother, Jerry Dauzant of Pineville, La.; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Houston Hardy TOW - Houston Hardy, 84, died Friday, July 25, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating. Burial will be at Tow Cemetery in Tow, Llano County. Arrangements are by Waldrope-HatfieldHawthorne Funeral Homes Inc. Mr. Hardy was born in Jones County. He was a lease operator for Mobil Oil Co. He was also an Infantry veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He had been a resident of Tow for 22 years, coming from Follett. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Emma Crawford in 1945 at San Antonio. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Arce of San Antonio; a brother, Weldon Hardy of Rochester; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. New Mexico James Roy Callison TUCUMCARI - James Roy Callison, 86, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Dunn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Civil, minister of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Plain Cemetery. Mr. Callison was born on the family homestead east of Tucumcari, where his parents had homesteaded in 1906. He had been a lifetime resident of Quay County and Tucumcari. He attended Plaza Largo Grade School, and the Norton High School. From 1947 until 1972, he was employed by the city of Tucumcari in the water department. When he retired, he was an assistant water superintendent. He was a member of the Tucumcari Elks Lodge No. 1172. He was an active member of the Pioneer Senior Citizens, and served as president for several years. For many years, he was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Tucumcari. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rue Callison. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Callison; a son, Bob Callison of Houston; a sister, Ethel Williams of Capitan; three stepchildren, Robert Hitchcock of Tucumcari, Buddy Hitchcock of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and Margaret Loth of Des Moines; three grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. The body will be available for viewing from Monday morning until time of service at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to Hospice Helping Hands of Tucumcari. Anna Lorine Sanders CLAYTON, N.M. - Anna Lorine Sanders, 75, died Friday, July 25, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hass Funeral Home with P. Louis Montoya officiating. Mrs. Sanders was born in Missouri. She moved to Clayton in 1984, from Grants, where she had lived for more than 30 years. She was active in the Clayton Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kell of Elko, Nev.; three sisters, Louise Stinebaugh of Phoenix, Bette Beard of Superior, Ariz., and Pene Pihonak of Washington; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. Area Cecil Smith DUMAS - Cecil Smith, 100, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Morrison Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Joe Schwertner, deacon, officiating. Burial will be at Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in Oklahoma, Indian Territory. She had been a resident of Moore County for most of her life. She was owner and operator of 4 Way Cafe for more than 30 years. She was also a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Smith, in 1961. Survivors include a foster daughter, Audria Steele of Dumas; a brother, Gene Atkinson of Dalhart; a sister, Ethel Colvin of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. The family will be at 723 E. Leon Higgins PAMPA - Leon Higgins, 68, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in North Lawn Cemetery at Dumas, with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo. Mr. Higgins was born in Denison. He moved to Pampa in 1985, from Dumas. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was also an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Higgins, in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Sue Flores of Lefors, and Jeanette Ann Higgins of Ukiah, Calif.; a son, Vernon Gene Higgins of Hesperia, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Kelly Stevens of Pampa; a sister, Bernice Scott of Dumas; a brother, Ray Higgins of Dallas; and four grandchildren. Rubie Cannon DALHART - Rubie Cannon, 84, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Central United Methodist Church with James Edwards, minister of Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Channing Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Cannon was born in Pilot Point. She moved with her family to Clarendon when she was two years old. She attended schools in Martin and Clarendon. She married Jim Cannon in 1934 at Clarendon. They moved to Channing in 1943, and left Channing in 1973. They then moved to Dalhart, where she worked at Coon Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She also worked at Humpty Dumpty Nursery for two years, before going to work at Dallam-Hartley County Child Development Center. Survivors include three daughters, Dolores Hargis of Amarillo, Mozelle Shepherd of Channing, and Drucilla Lindsey of Marysville, Calif.; a son, Gary Don Cannon of Concord, Calif.; three stepsons, Eli Cannon of Broken Arrow, Okla., Frank Cannon and Robert Cannon, both of Navasota; two stepdaughters, Eri Etta Williams and Jane Smith, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Leona Crouch of Granbury, and Frances Harper of Earlsboro, Okla.; a brother, Garland Peabody of Granbury; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Channing Cemetery Association. Gladys Winter STINNETT - Gladys Winter, 78, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, in San Angelo. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Orville Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Winter was a native of Beaver County, Okla. She had been a longtime resident of Stinnett. She was a homemaker and a former employee in the Hubbard County Clerk's Office. She had also been a member of First Baptist Church for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. "Jim'' Winter, in 1981. Survivors include a son, James Rodney Winter of San Angelo; three brothers, Wayne Evans of Borger, Charles Evans of Cordell, Okla., and Keith Evans of Stinnett; and two granddaughters.
