Jurcak PLAINVIEW - Louis Benjamin Jurcak, 79, died Monday, June 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Jurcak was born in Meeks. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1940 with a degree in poultry husbandry. He was a state poultry inspector for the Texas Employment Commission. He married Annie May Bloxom in 1940 in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Jurcak operated turkey and chicken hatcheries at Plainview Co-Op and later was in the ceramic business with his wife. He worked as the TEC farm labor employment supervisor from 1967 until retiring in 1981. He was a past member of the ABC Club, the SPJST Lodge in Cameron and the Little Red Hen Club at College Station. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Louis Jurcak of La Jolla, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Ann Thompson of Swansville, Minn.; a brother, Frank Jurcak of Temple; and four grandchildren. Gudelia Leal FRIONA - Gudelia Leal, 75, died Thursday, June 26, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday and will be recited at 7 p.m. today and Sunday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel in Hereford. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rose Chapel with Emilio Fuentes, deacon at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery at Hereford. Mrs. Leal was born in Hidalgo County. She married Andres Leal in 1942 at Lake Village, Ark. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1966 from Mercedes. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. Survivors include her husband of Clovis, N.M.; four sons, Andres Leal Jr. and Daniel Leal, both of Hereford, and Margurito Leal and Santiago Leal, both of Clovis; three daughters, Lydia Garza and Modesta Leal, both of Clovis, and Barbara Guerra of Hereford; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Jerry Joe Cobb PAMPA - Jerry Joe Cobb, 49, died Thursday, June 26, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cobb was born in Pampa. He was a 1967 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, Okla. He attended Amarillo College. He married Bernice White in 1973 at Pampa. Mr. Cobb had been a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for the past 12 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Texas Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife; a son, Micah Cobb of Pampa; a daughter, Erin Cobb of Pampa; his mother, Laurene Walker of Tulsa; two brothers, Marlin Cobb of Sadler and Robert Cobb of Houston; and a sister, Patsy Cox of Bonita Springs, Fla. The casket will not be open at the services. The family will receive friends at 1043 Sierra in Pampa. Lange TULIA - Albert Francis Lange, 75, died Friday, June 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Tulia Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Rusty Gray, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Lange was born in Nazareth. He was raised in Happy and attended school there. He was an Army sergeant in the armored tank division during World War II. He married Lillie Puslevitz in 1954 at Amarillo. Mr. Lange moved to Vigo Park in 1954 and farmed there for 35 years. He moved to Tulia in 1974. He was a dispatcher for Swisher Electric for 12 years. He was a member of Tulia Christian Fellowship Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christine Lucero of Fort Worth; a son, Andrew Lange of Odessa; five sisters, Mary Johnson, Imelda Wesley and Edith Irlbeck, all of Tulia, Sister Rose Lange of Bentonville, Ark., and Sister Clara Lange of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Scott Gandy PANHANDLE - Scott Gandy, 1-month-old son of Brian and Sandra Gandy of Borger, died Friday, June 27, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Methodist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Survivors include his parents; a sister, Brianna Gandy of Tulsa, Okla.; grandparents, Don Gandy of Panhandle, and Bill and Debbi Carroll of Alvarado; and great-grandparents, Opal Farris and George Gandy, both of Wheeler, Hester Willborn of Fort Worth and Ellen Carroll of Alvarado. Alice Marie Parsons FRITCH - Alice Marie Parsons, 73, died Friday, June 27, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel in Borger with the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of Lake Meredith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Garden at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Mrs. Parsons was born in Enid, Okla. She had been a Fritch resident for 13 years, moving from Denver. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Parsons, in 1996. Survivors include a son, Everett R. Parsons of Denver; a daughter, Betty Jo Montoya of Brighton, Colo.; a brother, Herman Vinson of Fritch; two sisters, Opal Morgan of Fritch and Jocie Jantzen of Lahoma, Okla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. James Ewell McLaughlin CANADIAN - James Ewell McLaughlin, 66, died Friday, June 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in New Electra Cemetery at Electra with Johnny Harrison of Iowa Park officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Nocona. He lived in Velma, Okla., from 1989 until moving to Canadian in January. He served two tours of duty in Korea with the Army. While in the service, he received the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars. Mr. McLaughlin worked as a derrick hand in the oil field. He was preceded in death by his wife, Floydene Welch, in 1988. Survivors include three sons, James McLaughlin Jr. of Canadian, Jessie McLaughlin of Electra and Jerry McLaughlin of Copperas Cove; two sisters; and a grandson. The family requests memorials be to the Disabled American Veterans. Elsewhere Beverly Ann Shannon VERNON - Beverly Ann Shannon, 70, died Thursday, June 26, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Prince, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park. Mrs. Shannon was born in Electra. She married Elmo Clifford Shannon in 1947 at Electra. He died in 1982. Mrs. Shannon moved to Vernon from Electra. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Wilbarger General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She retired as a cafeteria employee for Vernon Independent School District. Survivers include two daughters, Wynell Montgomery of Amarillo and Diana Deadmo of Vernon; a son, Cliff Shannon of Amarillo; three sisters, Lucille Britt of Electra, Norma Lunn of Duncanville and Bertha Lynn of Dallas; two brothers, Jack Lynn of Enid, Okla., and Charles Lynn of Krum; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Vernon Dialysis Center. Brian Kenneth Munn DENVER - Brian Kenneth Munn, 50, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, Texas. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Munn was born in Albuquerque, N.M. He was raised in Las Cruces and graduated from Las Cruces High School. He attended the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque for two years. He was an artist and a veteran of the Navy. Survivors include his mother, Maureen M. Poole of Amarillo; and a sister, Nancy Munn Greene of Canyon.
