Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Holy Sanctuary Church of God in Christ at Wellington with the Rev. Charles Mathis, pastor, and Superintendent E.L. Demerson, pastor of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ at Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery at Wellington. Arrangements are by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Lang was born in Hillsboro and received her education through the public school system in Hillsboro. She worked in homes and had been an Amarillo resident for three years. Survivors include a daughter, Odessa Tyler of Amarillo; a son, John Joseph Shannon of Wellington; two brothers, Ocean Archer of Wellington and Ben Archer of Mangum, Okla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1417 N.W. 10th Ave. New Mexico R.H. Elliott FLOYD, N.M. - R.H. "Henry'' Elliott, 101, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Portales. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Third and Kilgore Church of Christ at Portales with Peter Dahlstrom and Chris Swinford officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary Inc. of Portales. Mr. Elliott was born in Milton, Tenn. He lived with his family in Ritaville before moving to Box, Okla., in 1905. In 1906 his family filed a land claim south of Tolar and moved there in 1907. He attended school at Tolar. They moved to Clovis and lived there for five years. At age 17, Mr. Elliott began working for the railroad. He then worked on the Hart Ranch from 1915 until 1916. He was a Navy veteran of World War I, stationed on a sub-chaser. After returning from the Navy in 1919, he married Goldie Porter at Portales. They farmed and raised milk cows. In 1956, they moved from the Mesa community to Floyd. He drove a school bus for five years before retiring at age 65. In his working career, he broke horses, was a blacksmith and a welder, repaired farm equipment and windmills, doctored cows and did mechanic work. He continued to blacksmith and weld for area farmers and ranchers for many years after his retirement. He was baptized in 1910 in the Mesa community and later helped establish the Church of Christ congregation at Floyd, where he was a member at the time of his death. For many years, he judged welding for the FFA Field Days and was an honorary member of the Floyd Chapter of FFA. He was chosen in 1976 as the Floyd Citizen of the Year and in 1978 as the Pioneer of the Year. His wife, Goldie, died in 1968. He married Nellie Haga in 1970 in Colorado. She died in 1995. He also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Elliott, in 1995. Survivors include two sons, John Henry of Clovis and Tommy Elliott of Minneola, Kan.; nine daughters, Lois Cavasos of Moriarty, Irene Marshall, Alice Gossett, Burma Stark and Betty Gossett, all of Portales, Natalie Olmsted of Powell, Wyo., Joan Goyne of Lubbock, Texas, Rose Rector of Floyd and Mary Burch of Christianburg, Va.; four stepchildren, Ruth Sutherlin of Durango, Colo., and Faye McIntyre, Jerry Haga and Melvin Haga, all of Bayfield, Colo.; 51 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; a great-greatgreat-grandchild; and four stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home or a favorite charity. Maria Lopez PORTALES, N.M. - Maria Lopez, 87, died Monday, May 26, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Helen Catholic Church. Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Helen Catholic Church by the Rev. Anthony Martinez. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Lopez was born and raised in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1923, during the Mexican Revolution, her family moved to El Paso, Texas, where she attended Jesus and Mary Academy. She married Alejandro Lopez in 1943. He died in 1946. Following his death, she moved to Juarez and lived there until 1967. While living in Juarez, she was apprenticed to become a pharmacist. She later owned and operated a pharmacy. She moved to Albuquerque in 1967 to make a home with her daughter. She had lived in Portales since 1981. While in Portales, Mrs. Lopez was involved with the Portales Senior Citizens and Los Abuelitos of La Casa de Buena Salud. She also was involved with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program at the Community Services Center. She was a foster grandparent and volunteered for the Headstart Program. She had won many medals competing in the Senior Olympics. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Julia Rosa Emslie of Portales and Maria Cristina Lopez of Santa Fe; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mariana Mondragon CLOVIS, N.M. - Mariana Mondragon, 86, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Mondragon was born in Pintada and had been a longtime resident of Clovis. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Venceslao Mondragon, in 1976. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Mondragon of Albuquerque and Leroy Mondragon of Clovis; eight daughters, Fulgencia Chavez, Odilia Dominguez, Vera Barela, Merlinda Sena, Donna Padilla and Mary Bowers, all of Clovis, Flo De La Garza of Hereford, Texas, and Christine Garcia; a brother, Jose Garcia of Clovis; 39 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Area Cleo Mae Rhudy Clark PAMPA - Cleo Mae Rhudy Clark, 92, died Monday, May 26, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. M.B. Smith, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Clark was born in Fannin County. She lived in Wheeler, Shamrock and Fox, Okla., before moving to Pampa in 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Lawton W. Clark in 1923 in East Texas. He died in 1965. Survivors include two daughters, Ina Marie Woodruff and Ruth Golleher, both of Pampa; two brothers, Clarence Rhudy of Whitewright and Daniel Rhudy of Sherman; a sister, Hautence Parker of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Elsie Rhoda Smith Hagan QUANAH - Elsie Rhoda Baltzell Smith Hagan, 94, of Dallas, a former Quanah resident, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hagan was born in Coleman. She married Horace Avery Smith in 1935. He died in 1944. She married Edwin Shepherd Hagan in 1945. He died in 1995. Mrs. Hagan was a beautician before retiring. She owned the Blue Bonnet Beauty Shop on Main Street in Quanah during the early 1940s. Survivors include a son, Dan Smith of Dallas; and a granddaughter. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to a favorite charity. Jewell Miller HEREFORD - Jewell Miller, 85, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Parkside Chapel with Johnny Griffith, pastor of Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Miller was born in Floyd County near Floydada. She married Gordon Miller in 1935. He died in 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Wayne Miller; five sisters, Carrie Mae Doak of Hereford, Ethel Williams of Amarillo, Bernice Hamblin of Wayside, Vera Dodson of Canyon and Ruby Benton of Plainview; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association or Avenue Baptist Church. Garland Bryan DUMAS - Garland Bryan, 67, died Sunday, May 25, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Dorothy Ramos, minister from Dumas, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Bryan was born in Blair, Okla., and had lived in Dumas since 1964. He was a truck driver and had worked for Moore County Road and Bridge. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna LaNelle Reid Bryan, in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Nita Haney of Dumas; three stepsons, Roy Carlson and David Carlson, both of Amarillo, and Mike Mayhugh of Wellington; four stepdaughters, Louise Guerra of Fort Worth, Nelda Cockerham of Brownwood, Pat Martin of Amarillo and Kathy Raney of Dumas; a brother, Henry Bryan of Hereford; and two sisters, Edith Odell Schrayer of Gentry, Ark., and Faye Elizebeth Miller of Bracketville. The family will be at 511 W. 6th. They request memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, Texas 79029. Ronnie Clyde Bohler SHAMROCK - Ronnie Clyde Bohler, 56, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shamrock Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Shamrock with the Rev. Jack Lee, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Bohler was born in Shamrock and had lived in Shamrock all of his life. He served in the Army during peacetime. He worked for many years in and around Shamrock in the stucco and insulation business. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Loretta Jean Bohler in 1965 at Odessa. She died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Misty Botello of Austin; four brothers, Charles Lee Bohler of Oklahoma City, Chester Leon Bohler of McLean, James Nathan Bohler of West Columbia and Darrow Bohler of Shamrock; a sister, Betty Lou Rawlins of Vernal, Utah; and two grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at 8 a.m. Thursday.
