Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Wheeler officiating. Arrangements and cremation were by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Tuthill was born in Glen Ridge, N.J. He served in the Army in 1945 making prosthetics at Walter Reed Army Memorial Hospital. He earned his bachelor's degree in geology at the University of Ohio. He then attended the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he earned a master's degree in petroleum geology. He moved to Amarillo as an employee of Pure Oil Co. in 1954. He became independent in 1960 and in 1963 formed Tuthill and Barbee Oil and Gas Exploration. Following his retirement in 1986, he served as a consultant to Doc-Tech International. Mr. Tuthill was on the advisory board of the University of Missouri School of Geology. He was a member of many professional organizations including the American Geological Society, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association. He served a year as the president of the Humane Society. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; five daughters, Leah Ferrell of Oklahoma City, Andrea Hickman of Espanola, N.M., Amy Tuthill of Providence, R.I., and Denise Dockery and Melanie Franklin, both of Amarillo; a sister, Marian Connolly of Warwick, R.I.; and five grandchildren. The family will be at No. 16 Quadrille. Shirley Ann Wilson Shirley Ann Wilson, 48, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Inc. Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Dr. Gil Lain of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Miss Wilson was born in Higgins and had lived in Amarillo since 1977. She was a resident of the Amarillo State Center. Her activities included playing the piano with her friend, Mrs. Ethel Nunn. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and the Special Ed Class. Survivors include two sisters, Pattie Easterday and Daphna Fuller, both of Amarillo; and two brothers, Harvey Joe Wilson and Donald Wilson, both of Albuquerque, N.M. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Long was born in Lynn, Ark. She moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Groom. She was an LVN and a member of Bible Baptist Temple. She married Webster James Long in 1924 at Goodwell, Okla. He died in 1945. Survivors include a son, Vernon L. Long of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Vernice Dillon and Juanita Hoyt, both of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice or Bible Baptist Temple. James M. Dabney James M. "Pat" Dabney, 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Windell Taylor, chaplain at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Dabney was born on Mesa de Maya, near Kim, Colo. He grew up on his family's ranch. In 1990, he moved from Boise City, Okla., to Amarillo, where he had been a resident of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a well tender for Colorado Interstate Gas Co. before retiring. Mr. Dabney served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European and African theaters. He was the crew chief on a B-25. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Boise City and St. Paul's Methodist Church in Boise City. Survivors include a son, Ray Dabney of Amarillo; a daughter, Darla Dabney of Amarillo; two brothers, Bob Dabney of Amarillo and Jack Dabney of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Julia Williams of Rye, Colo., and Nettie Richardson of Pueblo, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Delmer Hill Rush Delmer Hill Rush, 84, of Amarillo, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery at Booker. Mr. Rush was born in Beaver, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1973. He was a retired aircraft mechanic and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He married Melba Vaughn in 1936 at Booker. Mr. Rush was preceded in death by a daughter, Audine Rush. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Towana Rush of Amarillo; two sons, Roy H. New Mexico Catarino Joseph Garza CLOVIS, N.M. - Catarino Joseph Garza, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community by the Rev. Tobin Hitt. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at Santa Fe by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Garza was born in Santa Rosa. He married Stella Lopez in 1940 at Fort Sumner. In 1964, they moved to Clovis, where he worked for Swift Meat Packing Co. He was an Army veteran and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. He also was a member of the Amvets and American Legion Post No. 25, where he served as the commander, finance officer and bingo chairman. Mr. Garza was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Garcia, in 1995; and by a son, Loy Garza, in January. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Lee Garza of Los Lunas, and Dennis Garza, Eddie Garza and Timmy Garza, all of Clovis; six daughters, Angelita Keith and Dolores Garza, both of Clovis, Kathy Wood of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Teresa Gallegos and Vicki Edlen, both of Albuquerque, and Pam Partin of Del Norte, Colo.; a sister, Juanita Drevin of San Bruno, Calif.; a brother, Lucio Garza of San Bruno; 26 grandchildren; and 40 greatgrandchildren. James Weston Campbell MELROSE, N.M. - James Weston "Jimmie" Campbell, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell was born in Randall County, Texas. He married R.I. Price in 1949 at Clovis. He moved to Melrose in 1959 from Clovis. Before retiring in 1966, he was a heavy equipment operator for Santa Fe Railway. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rufus Campbell of Floyd; two daughters, Marie Washington of Melrose and Virginia Cassell of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Roy G. Campbell of Eureka, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Eugene L. Green LOGAN, N.M. - Eugene L. Green, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Logan Church of Christ with Stanley Newton, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Pilgrim's Way Cemetery at Las Vegas, N.M. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Green was born in Huntsville, Ala., and had been a resident of New Mexico since 1954. He retired from the Santa Fe Railway, where he was superintendent of diesel locomotives. He was a member of the Logan Church of Christ. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, in 1972; and by a daughter, Gene Green. Survivors include two sons, Joe Green of Logan and Arthur Green of Amarillo; two sisters, Julia Coward of Waxahachie, Texas, and Leslie Nichols of Hurst, Texas; and four great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home from this morning until 7 p.m. Sunday. R.W. Marshall LOVINGTON, N.M. - R.W. "Buddy" Marshall, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Jantzen and the Rev. Tom Broom officiating. Burial will be in the city of Lovington Cemetery by SteedTodd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Marshall was born in Whitewright, Texas. He married Luva Lee Welmaker in 1938 at McClain, Miss. She died in 1995. He also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Noel Marshall, in 1992. Survivors include a son, Johnny Lynn Marshall of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Susan Ann Hubby of Clovis; a sister, Johnie Bell Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Tommy Marshall of Henderson, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the church Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Area Cooter Barnett SHAMROCK - Cooter Barnett, 86, formerly of Shamrock, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Barnett was born in Iredell and moved to Shamrock at a young age. She became a registered nurse in 1933 after graduating from Lubbock Sanatorium and Clinic. She did post-graduate studies at Cook County, Ill., and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She retired in 1983 after 50 years as a nurse-anesthetist. She had lived in Freeport with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Teinert, since 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Ditto of Irving; a sister, Jeanne Teinert of Freeport; three granddaughters; and two stepgranddaughters. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Todd was born in Goldthwaite. She moved to Dumas in 1948 from Santa Anna. She had been a Sunray resident since 1959. She was a homemaker and a school teacher. She was a member of Sunray Baptist Church. She married John A. Todd in 1936 at Brownwood. He died in 1991. He had lived in Adrian for two years, moving from Hugoton. He was a 10th-grade student at Adrian High School. He was a member of FFA, and he participated in basketball and golf. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Douglas Dean and Rosa Turpin of Hugoton; his mother and stepfather, Linda and Clinton Brown of Adrian; a brother, Sammy Turpin of Walsenburg, Colo.; a sister, JoLee Romero of Hugoton; a stepbrother, Juan Garcia of Hugoton; two half sisters, Serena Turpin and Breanna Turpin, both of Hugoton; three stepsisters, Stephani Campbell and Jaime Brown, both of Lubbock, and Sara Garcia of Hugoton; and his grandmother, Laveta Turpin of Colorado Springs, Colo. Kay Laubhan FOLLETT - Kay Alexander Laubhan, 55, a former Follett resident, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, in Perryton. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Fairmont Cemetery with Mike Nixon officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck, Okla. Mr. Laubhan was born in Beaver, Okla. He lived in several places before making his home in Follett. Following the death of his father in 1991, he and his mother moved to Perryton. In 1995, Mr. Laubhan moved to the Senior Village Nursing Home. Survivors include a brother, James Laubhan of Follett; and two sisters, Marilyn Yanke of Sunray and Josephine Rader of Amarillo. Carraway officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Mrs. Pitman was born in Pampa. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1987. Survivors include her husband, Shawn A. Pitman; her mother and stepfather, Vicki Gilbert and Laxman Bhatia; her father and stepmother, Johnny and Laurann Gilbert; a sister, Laura Gilbert; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Joseph Lawrence Oppel ARLINGTON - Joseph Lawrence Oppel, 72, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1997, in Arlington. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Moore Funeral Home. Burial was in Moore Memorial Gardens. Mr. Oppel was born in Chicago. He operated the Sears store in Amarillo from 1971 to 1975. He worked for Sears Roebuck for 34 years before retiring. After retiring, he worked for the city of Arlington for several years as a volunteer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Oppel; four sons, Bill Oppel of Cleburne, James Oppel of Amarillo, and Ray Oppel and Jack Oppel, both of Plano; and eight grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Diabetes Association. Gladys Zulauf MENA, Ark. - Gladys Zulauf, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Cremation and arrangements were by Hall Funeral Service. Mrs. Zulauf was born in Clayton, N.M. She grew up in Dalhart and then moved to Amarillo. In 1975, she moved to Mena, where she was the longtime owner of Books-N-Stuf. She married Glenn Zulauf in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Zulauf was preceded in death by a son, Mike Zulauf. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lisa Shaine Le Grand of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Nikkel of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Mena Home Health and Hospice, 311 Morrow, Mena, Ark. 71953. Vida Lee Warner ELKHART, Kan. - Vida Lee Warner, 68, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church with James Lucas, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Stratford Cemetery at Stratford, Texas. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla. Mrs. Warner was born in Plains. In 1931, her family moved to Stratford, where she attended school. She married William Hardy Gaylord in 1948. Mrs. Warner lived in Stratford until moving to Elkhart in 1965. She married Virgil Warner in 1973. He died in February. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ellen Gaylord. Mrs. Warner was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's League. She also volunteered as a 4H leader and a Cub Scout leader, and she was a member of the PTA. Survivors include two sons, William Lynn Gaylord of Martinsville, Ind., and Steve Alan Gaylord of Aspermont, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Foster of Amarillo and Norma James of Plains; three brothers, Melvin Bachman of Amarillo, Richard Bachman of Mustang, Okla., and Alvin Bachman of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and five grandsons. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 8 p.m. or Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. Oklahoma Robert Moyer GAGE, Okla. - Robert "Bob" Moyer, 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Gage Memorial Cemetery with Ray Don Jackson officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Mr. Moyer was born in Shattuck. He began ranching and working with livestock as a youngster. After completing an enlistment in the Navy, he returned home to continue ranching. He married Koral Kay Coffman in 1953. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeff Moyer of Sapulpa, Vic Moyer and Cliff Moyer, both of Gage, and Kenneth Moyer of Fargo; a daughter, Laura Zimmerman of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Golden Moyer of Bartlesville and Dr. Herman Moyer of Derby, Kan.; a sister, Grace Share of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
