Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Hartley was born in Bryson. She moved to Pampa in 1941 from Floydada. She was a homemaker and had been a cook at the Highway Cafe for 22 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She married William Kermit Hartley in 1934. He died in 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Jo Dumas of Lynwood, Wash., and Rosie Mae Kirklin of Pampa; two sons, Kermit Kenneth Hartley of Borger and Robert Edward Hartley of Pampa; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Rodriguez was born in Sinton. He had lived in Plainview since 1960, moving to Divine this year. He married Rita Patlan in 1994 at Levelland. He was retired from Southwestern Public Service. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tina Mahan of Lubbock; a son, Carlos Rodriguez of Corpus Christi; and six grandchildren. Ken McLain HEREFORD - Ken McLain, 73, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, in Ruidoso, N.M. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park by Parkside Chapel. Mr. McLain was born in York, Neb. He married Marcella Norquest in 1947 at McCool Junction, Neb. He farmed and raised cattle in York and Bradshaw, Neb. He moved to Hereford in 1969 and worked for Southwest Feedyard. In 1982, he opened McLain Garden Center. He owned the center until retiring in 1996. Mr. McLain was a member of First United Methodist Church at Hereford and a former member of the Hereford Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard McLain of Clovis, N.M., and Milton McLain of Estancia, N.M.; a brother, Roy McLain of York; a sister, Maxine Wright of Benedict, Neb.; and three granddaughters. She worked in the housekeeping department at Dumas Nursing Home. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. The family will be at 801 Avenue R. in Sunray. Clarence Caldwell PANHANDLE - Clarence "C.A.'' Caldwell, 101, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Less Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Caldwell was born in Kingman County, Kan. He had been a resident of Panhandle since 1925, moving from Cheney, Kan. He served with the Army Air Corps in the 455th Squadron during World War II. He was a bookkeeper for Hooper Elevators, northeast of Pampa. He then farmed in Panhandle and was named Farmer of the Year in 1990. He was a Methodist. Mr. Caldwell married Teresa Sue Harrison in 1919 at Hutchinson, Kan. She died in 1982. Survivors include a son, Harrison T. Caldwell of Lubbock; four daughters, Dorothy Knierihm of Panhandle, Faye Walker of Texline, Helen Mans of Amarillo and Jan Mecaskey of Panhandle; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She moved to Lubbock in 1930 and to Plainview in 1932. She retired from Plainview Answering Service. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She married Archie Hall in 1942 at Plainview. He died in 1961. Survivors include a brother, Patton Dunn of Boston; and two sisters, Lillian Barley of Plainview and Mildred Heath of Carlsbad, N.M. Ivan L. Walraven SHAMROCK - Ivan L. Walraven, 92, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Conner, retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Walraven was born near Grandview and attended school in Grandview. He moved to Shamrock in 1930. He married Katherine Inez Wade in 1928 at Johnson County. Mr. Walraven was a farmer. He also was an auto mechanic for Matt Lewis Auto Co. and E.W. Pool Motor Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Doris Haynes of Denison, Patricia Johnson of Amarillo and Helen Zook of Garland; two sisters, Henrietta Bates of Fort Worth and Laveta Douglass of Everman; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and friend, Herman Neal of Shamrock. Mrs. Reading was born in Hastings, Okla., and had been a resident of Pampa since 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Petrie. She then married Gordon K. Reading Sr. in 1955 at Pampa. He died in 1983. Mrs. Reading was a member and past Worth Matron of Top O' Texas Chapter No. 1064 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in bowling leagues across the Panhandle. She attended First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, G.K. Reading Jr. of Lubbock; a brother, Allen Hodges of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Jeanelle Bandy of Richardson; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 1200 N. Hulsey, former Bishop of the Diocese of Northwest Texas of the Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Arrington was born in Fort Worth. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in English. She taught school in the Fort Worth school system for two years. She was a member of Alpha Phi social fraternity. She married French Arrington in 1928 at Fort Worth. They moved to the Rocking Chair Ranch on the headwaters of the Washita River in southwestern Hemphill County and lived there for 43 years. Mr. Arrington died in 1973. Mrs. Arrington was a resident of Canadian for the past 26 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Canadian and the Presbyterian Women. She also served her church as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the WCTU library board and had served on United Way campaigns, Red Cross fund-raising functions and Meals on Wheels. She also was a member of the Anonymous Bridge Club, the Merry Bidders Bridge Club and the Book Review Club. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Arrington Webb of Canadian and Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, George W. Arrington of Canadian and William L. Arrington of Pampa; nine grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mr. Bain was born in Cottondale, Wise County. He moved from Wise County to Clarendon more than 85 years ago. He married Alyne Sandlin in 1935 at Clarendon. She died in 1984. Mr. Bain was a business owner in Clarendon for most of his life before retiring. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Jim Bain of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Adalene Henry Adalene Henry, 83, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Howard F.M. Childers, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Miss Henry was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She served with the Navy during World War II as a physical fitness instructor. She received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. She received a bachelor's degree from North Texas State University and a master's degree of education from Colorado State University. She taught in the Texas public schools for 37 years, spending 35 of those in Amarillo, where she taught physical education and health. She also taught at West Texas State University. Miss Henry worked with the Girl Scouts and was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert, who was shot down over Germany during World War II. Survivors include her mother, Catherine A. Clark of Amarillo. Osage St. Mr. Alldredge was born in Lubbock. He lived in Lubbock and Grants, N.M., for many years. He moved to Amarillo 30 years ago. He was an Army veteran. Leet Spurlock, 81, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Spurlock was born in Collin County and had lived in Amarillo for 15 years. He served with the Army from 1942 to 1945. He helped build roads and bridges for the Army. He was a heavy equipment operator for Gilvin / Terrill Inc. Survivors include two daughters, Carole Karr of Amarillo and Sherry Wiegand of Grapevine; three sisters, Leona Proffitt of Childress, Willie Ellis of Swearingen and Jackie Willingham of Duncan, Okla.; a brother, Wilmer Spurlock of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Mr. Fort was born in Dallas. He had lived in Amarillo since 1964, moving from Pampa. He married Myrna Ann Randolph in 1954. Mr. Fort served with the Army during the Korean War. He traveled the country extensively as an insurance adjustor. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jory Fort of Amarillo, Gary Fort of Fanfield, Calif., and Randy Fort of San Jose, Calif.; and a granddaughter. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Portales Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Dunsworth officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Pettit was born in Spade, Texas. He was raised on a ranch northwest of Levelland, Texas. He received his education at the Pettit School. He moved to New Mexico in 1942 and had lived in Portales and Roosevelt County most of his life. He was a cowboy and also worked in the oil fields. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Garrett of Greenville, Texas; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Elden Earl Scott LOGAN, N.M. - Elden Earl Scott, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, in Amarillo. There will be no services. Cremation is by Memorial Park Crematory in Amarillo. Mr. Scott retired from the New Mexico Highway Department. He was a member of the Logan Church of Christ. He married Brilla Willis in 1993 at Logan. Survivors include his wife; three sons; two daughters; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be in Logan. They request memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Canyon Ruth McAtee Chandler Ruth McAtee Chandler, 91, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Billy D. Nickell, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Chandler was born in Mangum, Okla. At a young age, she moved with her family to Carter, Okla. She attended school at Retrop, Okla., and graduated from Carter High School. She married Lee Chandler in 1929 at Sayre, Okla. They moved to Borger in 1956 and to Canyon in 1968. Mr. Chandler died in 1968. Mrs. Chandler was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include a sister, Jean Tippery of Canyon. The family will be at 66 Country Club Drive. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. J. Robert Herrod officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Hooker by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Fast was born in Hooker. She attended school at the Lutheran parochial school for seven years. She then attended Hooker grade school for her eighth year and graduated from Hooker High School with the class of 1942. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker, where she taught Sunday school during her high school years and was a Sunday school secretary for five years. She also was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid. She retired in 1982. Mrs. Fast was a chamber of commerce volunteer and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She married Marvin Fast in 1943 at Hugoton, Kan. They were engaged in farming. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony, in 1954 and her husband in 1978. Survivors include a son, Karl Ray Fast of Westminster, Colo.; and a brother, Edwin "Buddy'' Carstens of Bloomington, Ill.
