Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Crist Mortuary at Boulder, Colo. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Miss Kinard was born in Dalhart. She had been a hospice nurse. Survivors include a sister, Donna Hinkle of Amarillo. Elsewhere Leontina Salazar Hernandez DETROIT - Leontina Salazar Hernandez, 67, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel at Tucumcari, N.M. Services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in Puerto de Luna at the Nuestra Senora Refugio Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Nuestra Senora Refugio Cemetery at Puerto de Luna. Mrs. Hernandez was born in Puerto de Luna and had lived in Detroit for the past 20 years. Before moving to Detroit, she had been a resident of Amarillo and Tucumcari. She was a Catholic church member and a homemaker. Survivors include eight children, Mary Barela, Yolanda Nunez and Jimmy Hernandez, all of Detroit, Martha Chow of Amarillo, Mary Jane Nunez of Lovington, N.M., Cleo Barela, Mike Hernandez and Jake Hernandez, all of Denver; three brothers, Jake Salazar and Albert Salazar, both of Belen, and Joe Salazar of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Lucy Brito of Tucumcari and Irene Apodaca of Lubbock; 25 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from noon to 7 p.m. today at Dunn Memorial Chapel. Sibyl Long HASKELL - Sibyl Long, 79, formerly of Kermit, died Thursday Aug. 28, 1997. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today in the Church of Christ with Dale Huff, Ford Cole and the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be at 4;30 p.m. in Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. John Cary officiating. Arrangements are by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Long was born in Quanah. She was a homemaker and also worked as a hairdresser. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Northside Baptist Church in Kermit and First Baptist Church in Haskell. She married Barney Eugene Long in 1934 in Quanah. He died in 1987. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Long. Survivors include a son, Gene Long of Haskell; a brother, F.B. Cook of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Dorothy J. Swenson GUYMON, Okla. - Dorothy J. Swenson, 66, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Odie Nunley and the Rev. Billy Martin officiating. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Swenson was born in Mingus. She married O.E. "Swede'' Swenson in 1955 at Texico, N.M. They moved to Guymon in 1957 from Amarillo. She was a homemaker and cooked for the Guymon school system at Homer Long Elementary School for 16 years. She retired in 1984. She worked in several restaurants in Guymon before owning and operating the Crystal Cafe in Guymon. She was a Baptist and served as a Girl Scout leader and day camp director for many years. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kaye Barrett of Guymon and Mary Ann Silas of Gibson, Ga.; two grandchildren; and special friends, Bobby Philippe and Sheriff Arnold People, both of Guymon. The family suggests memorials be to the Southwest Home Care Hospice. Donald Robert Masse GUYMON, Okla. - Donald Robert Masse, 24, died Wednesday Aug. 27, 1997. Prayer vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Peter's with the Rev. Charles Murphy, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Kenneth Hien of Canyon City, Colo., assisting. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Masse was born in Redondo Beach, Calif. The Masse family moved to Guymon in 1976. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1991. He graduated magna cum laude from Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in May. He had been the pharmacy manager at Wal-Mart in Guymon since graduation. He was a member of St. Peter's. Survivors include his parents, Don and Judy Masse of Guymon; a sister, Susan Newman of Guymon; a brother, Brian Masse of Guymon; and his grandparents, Robert and Edith Birdsill of Guymon, and Joan Totaro of Redondo Beach. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. A Donald Masse Memorial has been established for the SWOSU Pharmacy Foundation to be used for pharmacy scholarships. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla., 73942. New Mexico Verna Mae Walker Thomas CLOVIS, N.M. - Verna Mae Walker Thomas, 96, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Dunsworth and the Rev. J.R. "Dick'' Ross officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Thomas was born in Springfield, Mo., and moved with her family on her eighth birthday to Hollis, Okla. In 1910 they moved to the Rogers community. She married J. Frank Thomas in 1920 at Portales. After their marriage, they moved to a farm where she lived the rest of her life. She had been a member of the Pep Homemakers Club for several years. Mr. Thomas died in 1984. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Fannie Walker of Portales. Area Roy Burl McKissick SKELLYTOWN - Roy Burl McKissick, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Joe McKissick of Abilene Christian University officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. McKissick was born in Sallisaw, Okla. He had been a resident of Skellytown since 1946. He worked in area oil fields for the Dansinger Co., British American Co. and contracted pumping until retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of World War II, participating in the European Theater. He was a staff sergeant and won the Bronze Star. Mr. McKissick was active in many civic organizations, including the Lions Club, Optimist Club and area senior citizens clubs as well as the local fire department. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Mary Ellen Hill in 1942 at Haskell, Okla. She died in 1991. He also was preceded in death by a stillborn son in 1947. Survivors include two sons, Guy McKissick of Skellytown and Ted McKissick of Belton; two daughters, Karen Utzmen of Langhorne, Pa., and Donna Hitt of Herndon, Va.; a sister, Mary McKissick of Morris, Okla.; four brothers, Marvin McKissick of Tulsa, Okla., Bob McKissick of Atwater, Calif., Bill McKissick of Athens and Joe McKissick of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 808 Lindberg in Skellytown. Ruth Godden CANADIAN - Ruth Godden, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Prairie Dell Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Meller, pastor of Gem City Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Godden was born in Hemphill County and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed by the Canadian Motel, Cat's Paw, Edward Abraham Memorial Home and the Canadian Laundry. She married Lee Godden in 1935 in the Gem City community. He died in 1992. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gene Godden in 1941; and a daughter, Glynda Fay Godden, in 1945. Survivors include a daughter, June Cunningham of Temple; a son, Wesley "Spud'' Godden of Canadian; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and eight greatgreat-grandchildren.
