Garrison CHANNING - Y.C. "Red'' Garrison, 79, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel in Dumas with the Rev. Bob Miller of First Baptist Church of Tucumcari, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery. Mr. Garrison was born in Hartley County and had been a lifetime Hartley County resident. He was a farmer and a rancher. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Lorene Proctor in 1947 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, John Garrison, in 1960. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jed Garrison of Channing; two daughters, Lee Garrison Smith of Dallas and Shannon Garrison of Channing; a brother, Rev. Lloyd Garrison of Otis Orchard, Wash.; a sister, Elizabeth Sullivan of Dumas; and three grandchildren. The family will be at the family home in Channing. They request memorials be to the Channing Volunteer Ambulance Service or the Channing Cemetery. Lucille Flowers DUMAS - Lucille Flowers, 82, died Monday, July 28, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. David Carrington of United Pentecostal Church of Dumas officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Flowers was born in Moultrie, Ga., and had been a Dumas resident since 1940. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Flowers, in 1973; and a son, John Flowers, in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Pettit of Dumas and Joan Holbrook of Temple; a son, Curtis Flowers of Dalhart; three sisters, Elizabeth Franklin of Bay City, Myrtle Weeks of Luling and Mary Jane Turney of West Palm Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 408 Floyd. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. Lupe Martinez HALE CENTER - Lupe Martinez, 60, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Theresa's by the Rev. Martin Pena. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Freeman Funeral Home. Mr. Martinez was born in Caldwell. He moved to Hale Center from Caldwell in 1951. He married Betty Flores in 1970 at Friona. Mr. Martinez was employed as a custodian for the Hale Center school district. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Organization. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Rebecca, all of Hale Center, and Theresa Ann of Lubbock; his mother, Ophelia Martinez of Hale Center; five brothers, Frank, Victor, Robert and Rudy, all of Hale Center, and Phillip of Friona; two sisters, Linda Norwood of Plainview and Jane Cole of Florida; and a granddaughter. Henry Cornelious Wyatt GRUVER - Henry Cornelious Wyatt, 90, died Monday, July 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunray Baptist Church in Sunray with the Rev. Mike Martin of Morse Baptist Church in Morse and the Rev. Scott Curry of First Baptist Church in Gruver officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Wyatt was born in Aquilla and had been a Sherman County resident since 1947. He was a farmer and a member of Sunray Baptist Church. He married Velma Mae King in 1948. She died June 20. Survivors include a son, Gene Wyatt of Granbury; a stepson, Rex Williams of Gruver; a stepdaughter, Christine Brandvik of Gruver; a brother, Ed Wyatt of Goldendale, Wash.; five sisters, Edith Thompson of Amarillo, Dona Burge and Zula Carlton, both of Plainview, Maxine Howard of Clovis, N.M., and Daisy Crowley of Carlsbad, N.M.; three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 14 step-greatgrandchildren. Hollabaugh COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - J.D. Hollabaugh, 71, a former longtime Happy, Texas, and Canyon, Texas, resident, died Sunday, July 27, 1997. Services were private in Colorado Springs. Local arrangements were by Brooks Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. Hollabaugh was born in Happy and attended Canyon High School. He farmed in Randall County and later worked for Dolby Motor Freight for 38 years. He was an Air Force veteran. He married Bebe Webb in 1950 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lanoy Kay Bough of Colorado Springs; a son, Bryan Keith Hollabaugh of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Gene Crow and Catheryne Thompson, both of Canyon; and five grandchildren. New Mexico Bonita Tanner PORTALES, N.M. - Bonita Tanner, 70, died Monday, July 28, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rodgers and Dr. Bill Sylkscar officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mrs. Tanner was born in Portales. She was raised in Clovis and attended school there. She married Robert L. Tanner in 1944 at Portales. While living in Portales, she drove school buses for a number of years. She worked at the book store at Eastern New Mexico University for two years. She moved to Clovis in 1972 and worked at Torrence's Western Wear for a short time. In 1975, Mrs. Tanner purchased the Shoestring, a consignment clothing store on Main Street. At the time of her death, she had owned and operated the store for 22 years. She was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both in Portales and Clovis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988. Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Tanner and Davis L. Tanner, both of Clovis; a daughter, Vickey Gilberth of Clovis; three sisters, Deenie Pounds of Lubbock, Texas, Barbara Bookout of Roswell and Jessimine VanWinkle of Splendora, Texas; a brother, G.A. Gunn of Fort Sumner; and five grandchildren. Lorene Clark Vandevender CLOVIS, N.M. - Lorene Clark Vandevender, 94, died Sunday, July 27, 1997. Mrs. Vandevender was born in Gail, Texas. When she was 2, she moved with her parents to Puerto. She attended school at Norton. She married Kenneth Vandevender in 1921 at Farwell, Texas. They lived in the Grady community until 1948, when they moved to Clovis. Mrs. Vandevender was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include a daughter, Nadene Bell of Clovis; two sons, Adrian Vandevender of Clovis and Howard Vandevender of Plano, Texas; a sister, Arlene Rudolph of Tahlequah, Okla.; a brother, George W. Clark of Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Danny Logan, pastor of Bell Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Anderson was born and raised in Amarillo. He was a branch manager for Orkin Exterminating for 25 years before retiring in 1991. He had been a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church since 1974. He married Joyce Johnson Elliott in 1969 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lisa Lynn Anderson of Amarillo and Cynthia Lou Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Ronnie Anderson of Dallas and Ricky Anderson of Sacramento; three stepdaughters, Deborah Upton of Amarillo, Sue Warren of Ransom Canyon and Connie Krenning of Oklahoma City; a stepson, Howard Elliott Jr. of Canyon; a sister, Sharon Jelinek of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Washington St. Mina Williams Mina Williams, 79, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 28, 1997. The family suggests memorials be to the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. Frances Prude Bridges Frances Prude Bridges, 92, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 28, 1997. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Bridges was born in Waxahachie. She graduated from Trinity University. She married William W. Bridges in 1923. They lived in Fort Worth for 19 years before moving to Amarillo in 1943. Mr. Bridges died in 1966. Mrs. Bridges served on the YWCO board and the Amarillo Federation of Women's Clubs and was a past regent of the Esther McCrory Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member, president and vice president of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was a longtime member of the Progressive Study Club. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Co-Workers Sunday School Class. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Quattlebaum of Amarillo and Billie Lane of Houston; a sister, Kathryn Chappell of Dallas; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Rose LaVerne Pope Rose LaVerne Pope, 69, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, in Rowlett. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Pope was born in Friona. She attended Amarillo College and Frank Phillips College. She married S.W. Pope in 1948 at Friona. He died in 1993. Mrs. Pope was a librarian at the West Texas State University library and the Amarillo Public Library. She retired in 1978. She was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Wilford Lee Pope of Rowlett; a daughter, Retha Gayle Lemley of Amarillo; three sisters, Jennell Pope of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lettie Foster of Bartlesville, Okla., and Annie Moore of Amarillo; a brother, Bryant Dukes of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a bookkeeper and a member of Paramount Baptist Church. She attended the Lydia Sunday School class. She married Ira Thomas Inman in 1928 at Archer City. He died in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, June Plein of Amarillo; a sister, Nettie Blair of Arlington; a granddaughter; and a greatgrandson.
