Osage St. Mrs. Miller was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. She moved to Amarillo in 1966 from Johnstown, N.Y. She married Charles W. Miller in 1944 at New York. He died in 1996. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Miller, in 1945; and a son, Bruce Miller, in 1953. She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of the Pocahontas Mohawk Club. She also was a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Loya and Susan Whitehead, both of Amarillo, and B.J. Bolin of Stillwell, Okla.; three sons, Scott Miller and Tony Lewis, both of Amarillo, and David Miller of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Bridge of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Merna Youngblood of Amarillo; a brother, James Putman of Gloversville, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Brent Burling Brent Burling, 33, of Austin, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Burling was born in Amarillo. He attended Amarillo College and graduated from the University of Texas School of Pharmacy at Austin. He was a pharmacist in Amarillo and Austin. He also worked for the American Cancer Society. He served on the Amarillo Chapter of the University of Texas Exes. He was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Patsy Burling of Amarillo; and a brother, Mark C. Burling of Amarillo. The family will be at 3908 Justin Drive. They request memorials be to the Paramount Terrace Christian building fund. Jackie McMahon Jackie McMahon, 62, of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Ms. McMahon was born in Borger and had been a longtime resident of Amarillo. She was a bookkeeper for Freeman's Flowers for many years. Nelle Morris Nelle Morris, 88, of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey of the church officiating. She was a seamstress for many years at Amarillo Air Force Base. She retired from Colbert's when the store closed. Survivors include 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren. John Farrell John Farrell, 85, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Ken Keller of the church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Farrell was born in Maryville, Mo. He moved to Amarillo in 1932 and became an agent for Sinclair refining. He married Ernestine Dolman Coe in 1933. Later that same year, he opened John Farrell Lumber Co. In the early 1940s, Mr. Farrell contracted with the government to produce crates used to store and transport explosive materials manufactured by the Pantex plant in Amarillo and a military facility in Alamogordo, N.M. He then began building and operating hotels in Texas and New Mexico including Farrell Manor in Amarillo. He also built and operated Amarillo Bowl and was instrumental in the development of several residential housing developments in Amarillo including Sleepy Hollow, City Park and South Georgia. Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include his children, Francis Kay Farrell of Taos, N.M., Richard Coe Farrell of Amarillo, Linda Farrell Takacs of Scottsdale, Ariz., and John David Farrell of Canyon; a sister, Mary Livoni of Newport Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the St. Mary's organ fund or a favorite charity. Dale Warren Cannon Dale Warren Cannon, 71, of 5107 Yale Street, died Saturday, March 29, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Glen Walton officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell Avenue. Mr. Cannon was born in Frederick, Okla. After high school he joined the Marine Corps where he served in World War II. He made the landing at Iwo Jima. He was later granted an honorable discharge. He joined the National Guard and was recalled into duty for the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked for Phillips Petroleum. He then went to work for Westinghouse in Nederland. He was transferred to Smyrna, Ga. He worked in the refrigeration and air conditioning business for most of his life. He took medical retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Dale Cannon, in 1971. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Lee Cannon of St. Paul Park, Minn., and Gary Neil Cannon of Big Pine Key, Fla.; a sister, Jurhee Makowiecki of Lawton, Okla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Ben L. Carriker Ben L. Carriker, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. James Burns of San Jacinto Full Gospel and Mr. Joe Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Carriker was a butcher at Safeway and Mack's Supermarket. He was an Army veteran. He was also a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Okla. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475. He was a member and had a fellowship degree with the Moose Lodge No. 1361. He was a member of the Hanson Post American Legion No. 54, and a member of the Odd Fellows. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Burgess, in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Carriker; four sons, Ben R. He married Dorothy May in 1949 at Gainsville and moved to Amarillo in 1950. He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 21 years and Groendyke Trucking Company. He also worked for the Borden ice cream plant until its closing. He was a truck driver for Trans Lease before going to work for Randall County Feed yard until his retirement in 1991. He was active in Boy Scouts and Kids, Inc. for many years. He was a member of Mescalero Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert L. McIntire of Amarillo and James McIntire of Canyon; two daughters, Johna Zint of Pampa and Paula Steele of Wichita Falls; five brothers, Daniel McIntire of Texas, Marvin McIntire of Quinlan, Jerry McIntire of Nevada, Kenneth McIntire of Ardmore, Okla., and Billy Ray McIntire of Exeter, Mo.; a sister, Lois Lock of Milwaukie, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many foster children. She was a resident of Borger from 1960 to 1994, when she moved to Dalhart. She was a home health care nurse's aide. She was affiliated with Cornerstone Church. The family requests memorials be to the Cornerstone Church building fund. Fortunato Pena Salazar SUDAN - Fortunato Pena Salazar, 82, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sudan Cemetery with Ramon Mendoza, pastor of the Church of God of Firstborn of Muleshoe, officiating. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan. Mr. Salazar was born in San Carlos, Mexico. He married Esperanza Morin in 1932 at Del Rio. She died in 1981. He moved to Sudan in 1962 from Del Rio. He was employed at the Farmers Cooperative Gin of Sudan for a number of years before retiring in 1979. Survivors include three sons, Fortunato Salazar Jr. of Sudan, Andres Salazar of Austin and Juan Salazar of Dallas; two daughters, Faride Servantez and Petra Servantez, both of Del Rio; a sister, Maria Botello of Lubbock; a brother, Rafael Salazar of Del Rio; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Loretta Thomas PADUCAH - Loretta Thomas, 83, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Crosby, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomas was born in Cottle County and had been a lifelong resident of the Paducah area. She was a 1932 graduate of Paducah High School. She married Arch Ross Thomas in 1932 at Cottle County. He died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Ray Thomas, in 1939. She was employed by JC Penney and later worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Walling of Paducah and Betty Cutshall of Austin; two brothers, John Gilbreath of Paducah and Edward Gilbreath of Woodrow; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandsons. Rob Biles PLAINVIEW - Robert Wayne "Bob" Biles, 19, died Friday, March 28, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Biles was born in Arlington. He moved to Plainview in 1990 from Tulia and attended Plainview schools. He had been working at Dowdy Plumbing. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Marion Biles of Plainview; a sister, Amy Biles of Plainview; and grandparents, Ed and Ruby Biles of Sunset and Pearl Hooten of Plainview. Naomi Holdridge PLAINVIEW - Naomi Holdridge, 87, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Steve Rogers, pastor, and the Rev. Randy Dean, pastor of the Living Word Chapel in Forrest, Wis., officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Holdridge was born and raised in DeLeon and graduated from DeLeon High School. She attended Texas Woman's College in Fort Worth. She married Paul Holdridge in 1929 at DeLeon. He died in January. After marrying, she returned to Comanche County and taught school for two years. They lived in many places because her husband was an Assembly of God minister. They moved to McCamey in 1937; to Plainview in 1939; to Hope, Ark., in 1945; to Albuquerque, N.M., in 1951; and to Bartlesville, Okla., in 1956. They moved to Waxahachie in 1970 and returned to Plainview in 1977. Mrs. Holdridge attended Trinity Fellowship Church and was a member of the Thursday Morning Ladies Bible Study. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Warrick of Plainview and Elaine Rowton of Edmond, Okla.; a son, Gene Holdridge of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Bill Coley of Bedford; three sisters, Geneva Hyden of Dallas, Frances Henry of Burnet and Neta Conway of Salinas, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. They request memorials be to Meals on Wheels or the Gideons. Grady C. Pridmore ADRIAN - Grady C. "Sunshine" Pridmore, 84, died Saturday, March 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of First Baptist Church in Tucumcari, officiating. Arrangements are by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Pridmore was born in Poteau, Okla., and had been a resident of Adrian since 1935. He had worked as a custodian for Adrian Independent School District for 28 years. He managed the Mobile Station in Adrian for 14 years. He was a rancher and a veteran of the Army. He married Frances Johnson in 1947 at Tucumcari. He was a charter and past member of the Adrian Lions Club and was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Pridmore of the home; a son, Larry Pridmore of the home; a brother, Howard Pridmore of San Diego; three sisters, Bea Smith of Chico, Calif., Opal Moore of California and Lois Morris of Wister, Okla. Box 496, Vega, Texas 79092. Ann Bell Kissel HEREFORD - Ann Bell Kissel, 69, died Saturday, March 29, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Gililland-Watson Rose Chapel with John Kissel officiating. The body was donated to medical science. Mrs. Kissel was born in Mabank. She had been a longtime resident of Hereford. She attended school at Payne Springs and graduated valedictorian from Sparenburg High School. She married Leon J. Bell in 1946 at Lamesa. He died in 1981. She married Jack Kissel in 1992 at Hereford. She worked as a teletypist for Western Union until 1946. She was a Christian homemaker, a Sunday school teacher, a church organist and a Deaf Smith County Hospital volunteer. She was a member of Grace Gospel Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mitchell Bell of Hereford and Terry L. Bell of Amarillo; three sisters, Bobbye Woodul and Lynn Harris, both of Lamesa, and Alice Harper of O'Donnell; a stepson, John Kissel of Penrose, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Jean Greener of Brush, Colo.; a stepmother, Lou Sealy of Lamesa; a grandson; and nine stepgrandchildren. the family requests donations be made to Crown of Texas Hospice. Loy Eugene Smith HEREFORD - Loy Eugene Smith, 82, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Services were at 11 a.m. Friday in the Rix Chapel with the Rev. Ray Sanders officiating. Burial was in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Smith was born in Hereford. He lived in Hereford all of his life. He was a cowboy and worked on a cattle ranch and in construction. He was preceded in death by his son, Mickey Smith, in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Judy Millsap of Denver City and Sue Oberheim of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Loy Gene Smith of Lubbock and Monty Smith of Hereford; a sister, Wilma Curtsinger of Hereford; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Crinklaw was born in Long Pine, Neb. She was a graduate of Cottey College. She was a resident of Pampa since 1949. She married James Gordon in 1936 at Lusk, Wyo. She taught school in Wyoming before moving to Pampa, where she was the children's librarian at Lovett Memorial Library for 29 years. She was member of the First Christian Church, PEO, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Pampa Senior Citizens Center and was an active worker in Girl Scouts for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994 and her daughter, Jo C. Fitch, in 1996. Survivors include her son, James G. Crinklaw Jr. of Flower Mound; and two grandsons. Mrs. McCall was born in Minneapolis. She married Corwin B. McCall in 1927 at Salina, Kan. They lived in several Kansas locations, including Hutchinson and Salina. They moved to Sunray in 1967 from Salina. She was a homemaker and formerly worked in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Hutchinson. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nona M. Phelps and Janette R. Alishe. Survivors include her husband; a son, Donald C. McCall of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Janice K. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Ms. Walkup was born in the Tennessee Valley Community 18 miles west of Quanah. She attended the Tennessee Valley School and graduated from Kirkland High School in 1939. She graduated from Texas State College for Women in 1945 at Denton. She began her teaching career in 1942 at Paducah. She later taught at Jacksboro and Childress schools for more than 40 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hughes Bible class of First United Methodist Church. She had worked at Meinecke Brother's Hardware and Paynes Dress Shop for several years. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She married George W. Moore in 1932 at Tell. He died in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, La Nell DeArmond of Plainview and Margaret Thomas of Duncan, Okla.; two sons, George W. Moore Jr. of Austin and Lyndell Moore of Canyon; a brother, Jack Cooper of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Jill Kirk of Floydada; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Donald Lynn Hurst FREDERICKSBURG - Donald Lynn Hurst, 73, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis G. Dusek officiating. David Alan Tiemeier WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa - David Alan Tiemeier, 49, died Friday, March 28, 1997. Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 3 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. John Hyland officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Tiemeier was born in Burlington. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965 and received a bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University in 1969. He married Julie Cross in 1971 at Fort Madison, Iowa. He was an insurance agent for Cady Insurance Co. of Burlington. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a member of the Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus and the Arthritis Foundation. Mr. Tiemeier served in the Air Force for five years during the Vietnam War. He was a captain piloting the KC-135 aircraft. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joel Tiemeier of West Burlington; his mother, Idabel Tiemeier of Burlington; his father, Walter Tiemeier of Burlington; and a brother, Daniel Tiemeier of Centerville, Iowa. Hightower LEVELLAND - C.B. Hightower, 88, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in South Plains Church with the Rev. Eddie Trice, pastor, officiating. He was a retired farmer and rancher, and a former member of the Hockley County Sheriff's Posse. He married Gertrude Orlena McKinney in 1926 at Idalou. She died in 1978. Oklahoma Mary Anna Bland BURBANK, Okla. - Mary Anna Bland, 90, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Shidler Christian Church at Shidler with L.S. Mrs. Bland was born in Phillips and had been a Burbank resident for 73 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyce "Pete" Bland, in 1990. Darrel Brune GUYMON, Okla. - Darrel Brune, 46, a lifelong Optima resident, died Friday, March 28, 1997. Mr. Brune was born in Guymon. He was raised on the Brune home place near Optima and later became involved in the family farming operation. He also was employed at the Guymon Livestock Auction for more than 14 years. He was an active member of the Texas County Sheriff's Posse. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his mother, Mary Brune of Optima; two sisters, Myrtle Costner of Guymon and Karen Stewart of Optima; a brother, Ervin Brune of Guymon; and a grandmother, Edna Behne of Guymon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gage School Auditorium with the Rev. Nancy Woods and Curtis Torrance officiating. Burial will be at the Gage Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Mr. Woods was born in Woodland, Calif. His family moved to Gage in 1944 where he attended school. He graduated in 1958. He then attended Panhandle State University where he was active in ROTC and received his bachelor's degree in social studies. He taught school in New Mexico for a brief period, later teaching in Kansas, Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Canada. In 1969 he moved back to Oklahoma and taught school at Fargo. He married Linda Wilcoxson in 1972 at Fargo. They moved to Gage in 1973 where he became active in the family dairy business until his ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church, past member of the Gage School Board, a board member and past chairman with the Northwest Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center and was the Ellis County Democrat Chairman. He umpired baseball games and coached basketball. Survivors include his wife; two sons, ArinLana Walker of Woodward.
