Miss Wilson was born in Higgins and had lived in Amarillo since 1977. She was a resident of the Amarillo State Center. Her activities included playing the piano with her friend, Mrs. Ethel Nunn. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and the Special Ed Class. Survivors include two sisters, Pattie Easterday and Daphna Fuller, both of Amarillo; and two brothers, Harvey Joe Wilson and Donald Wilson, both of Albuquerque, N.M. She was an LVN and a member of Bible Baptist Temple. She married Webster James Long in 1924 at Goodwell, Okla. He died in 1945. Survivors include a son, Vernon L. Long of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Vernice Dillon and Juanita Hoyt, both of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice or Bible Baptist Temple. James M. Dabney James M. "Pat" Dabney, 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Windell Taylor, chaplain at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Dabney was born on Mesa de Maya, near Kim, Colo. He grew up on his family's ranch. In 1990, he moved from Boise City, Okla., to Amarillo, where he had been a resident of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a well tender for Colorado Interstate Gas Co. before retiring. Mr. Dabney served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European and African theaters. He was the crew chief on a B-25. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Boise City and St. Paul's Methodist Church in Boise City. Bonnie Lee Goodwin Bonnie Lee Goodwin, 89, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel in Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Goodwin in 1988. Ed Armstrong Edward Alfred Armstrong, 77, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in California. Cremation was by Pierce Brothers Praiswater Mortuary. Mr. Armstrong was born in Sweetwater, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech and served in the Army in World War II. He was a radio singer in Blackburn Shaw Quartet, and had his own orchestra which performed at The Nat and The Aviatrix. He moved to Carmel Valley, Calif., in the 1960s. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service there until his retirement in the 1980s. He also drew cartoons with his wife for publications such as Saturday Evening Post, LOOK, and the American Medical Journal. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Marvin of Lubbock; a sister Dorothy of Denver; two daughters, Kathleen of Bethel, Ohio, and Shannon Bristow; and two sons, Ed Armstrong of Amarillo and Bill Armstrong of Hollywood, Calif. Kay Laubhan FOLLETT - Kay Alexander Laubhan, 55, a former Follett resident, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, in Perryton. Mr. Laubhan was born in Beaver, Okla. He lived in several places before making his home in Follett. Following the death of his father in 1991, he and his mother moved to Perryton. Joseph Lawrence Oppel ARLINGTON - Joseph Lawrence Oppel, 72, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1997, in Arlington. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 23 in Moore Funeral Home. Burial was in Moore Memorial Gardens. Mr. Oppel was born in Chicago. He operated the Sears store in Amarillo from 1971 to 1975. He worked for Sears Roebuck for 34 years before retiring. After retiring, he worked for the city of Arlington for several years as a volunteer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Oppel; four sons, Bill Oppel of Cleburne, James Oppel of Amarillo, and Ray Oppel and Jack Oppel, both of Plano; and eight grandchildren. In 1975, she moved to Mena, where she was the longtime owner of Books-N-Stuf. She married Glenn Zulauf in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Zulauf was preceded in death by a son, Mike Zulauf. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lisa Shaine Le Grand of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Nikkel of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla. Mrs. Warner was born in Plains. In 1931, her family moved to Stratford, where she attended school. She married William Hardy Gaylord in 1948. Mrs. Warner lived in Stratford until moving to Elkhart in 1965. She married Virgil Warner in 1973. He died in February. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ellen Gaylord. Mrs. Warner was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's League. She also volunteered as a 4H leader and a Cub Scout leader, and she was a member of the PTA. He graduated from high school in Clayton, N.M., in 1926, and attended Draghons Business College in San Antonio. He served in the Army in World War II. He married Lois Smith in 1962. He farmed and ranched in Roaring Springs from 1945 until his retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986. Survivors include a brother, Gus Cooper of Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Frances Nevenheim of Prescott, Ariz.; and four stepgrandchildren. Oklahoma Robert Moyer GAGE, Okla. - Robert "Bob" Moyer, 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997. Graveside services were Saturday. Arrangements by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Mr. Moyer was born in Shattuck. He began ranching and working with livestock as a youngster. After completing an enlistment in the Navy, he returned home to continue ranching. He married Koral Kay Coffman in 1953. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeff Moyer of Sapulpa, Vic Moyer and Cliff Moyer, both of Gage, and Kenneth Moyer of Fargo; a daughter, Laura Zimmerman of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Golden Moyer of Bartlesville and Dr. Herman Moyer of Derby, Kan.; a sister, Grace Share of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Nell Grant Whatley Nell Grant Whatley, 83, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery in the East Mausoleum with the Rev. Roy S. Mrs. Whatley was born in Gainsville. She was raised in Memphis, Texas, and graduated from Memphis High School in 1931. She moved to Amarillo in 1937. She married Charles Whatley in 1937 at Memphis. She worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for many years before retiring in 1968. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. The family will be at 3519 Edgewood and requests memorials be to Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Carl Troutman DUMAS - Carl Troutman, 85, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Troutman was born in Iowa Park. He had lived in Moore County since 1926. He was a retired farmer. He was a former president of Dumas Independent School District board and a former board member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Eddie Troutman of Dumas; three daughters, Mary Helen Lummus and Betty Ann Sansing, both of Amarillo, and Linda Jean Denny of Borger; a brother, Herman Troutman of Dumas; a sister, Ruth Wells of Dumas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He retired from the Santa Fe Railway, where he was superintendent of diesel locomotives. He was a member of the Logan Church of Christ. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, in 1972; and by a daughter, Gene Green. The body will be available for viewing at the church Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Concepcion Reyes Trujillo HOBBS - Concepcion Reyes Trujillo, 60, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis. Mrs. Trujillo was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She married Jose Trujillo in Aguascalientes, Mexico. They moved to Clovis in 1971 and to Hobbs in 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Helena Church in Hobbs and the Renacer Group. Survivors include her husband; nine sons, Jesus Trujillo, Richard Trujillo, John Trujillo, Greg Trujillo, Willie Trujillo, Enrique Trujillo, and Valentin Trujillo, all of Clovis, Jimmy Trujillo of Tacoma, Wash., and Frank Trujillo of Hobbs; four daughters, Estela Chavez of Clovis, and Josephine Lopez, Martha Parra and Imelda Trujillo, all of Hobbs; her mother, Guadalupe Requenes Reyes of Mexico; four sisters; five brothers; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. E.D. Gollehon PORTALES - E.D. "Gene" Gollehon, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church in Portales, with the Rev. Mark Rasnake and the Rev. J.R. He married Vada May Roberts in 1935 at Lovington. He farmed and ranched in the Post area until 1945, when he moved to House, N.M. He moved to Portales in 1963 where he continued to farm and ranch until his retirement in 1979. He had been a resident of Golden Acres Retirement Apartments in Portales since 1985. Survivors include his wife, Vada; three sons, Ron Gollehon of McLean, Va., Mike Gollehon of Portales, and Noel Gollehon of Gaithersburg, Md.; a sister, Susie Mason of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to New Mexico Baptist Children's Home in Portales. Rev. Earl G. Vanzant PORTALES - The Rev. Earl G. Vanzant, 88, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ken George and the Rev. Raymond Hudson, officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Rev. Vanzant was born in Quay. He married Roena Johnson in 1927 at Tucumcari. He was a minister of the Assemblies of God churches for more than 60 years. He served as pastor in churches at San Jon, Tucumcari, Belen, Mountianair, Hobbs, and Portales. He served the New Mexico district as youth director, Sunday school director, and district superintendent for 13 years. He served on the board of Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas; Indian Bible School in Arizona; and as General Presbyter of the General Council of the Assemblies of God. He lived in Albuquerque from 1968 to 1982. He retired in 1982 and returned to Portales. He was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Vanzant. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Thurman Vanzant of Springfield, Mo., Carl Vanzant of Arlington, Texas, Homer Vanzant of Kansas City, Mo., and Larry Vanzant of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Velma Owens of Portales; a sister, Cathrene Weaver of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Leslie Joe Valentine ALBUQUERQUE - Leslie Joe Valentine, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Barton Cemetery in Edgewood, N.M., with the Rev. Clyde Gilman officiating. Arrangements are by Crestview Funeral Home. Mr. Valentine had moved to Albuquerque from Farmington a year ago. He was retired from El Paso Natural Gas Co. after 29 years of service. He was a Baptist and a member of Elks Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Bennie; a daughter, Jodi Daniells of Dumas, Texas; a brother, Jimmy Valentine of Wildorado, Texas; four sisters, Jacque Pratt of Wildorado, Texas, Peggy Absher of Oklahoma City, Gail Nesbitt of Amarillo, Texas, and JoAnn Wilkerson of Abilene, Texas; and two grandchildren.
