Services will be at 2 p.m. today in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Denman was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945. He joined the Army and served in the 441st Counter Intelligence Corps under Gen. Douglas McArthur in occupied Japan and Korea. He married Evelyn Greer in 1947 at Amarillo. He started in the construction business in 1950 and founded Denman Building Products in 1963. Among the major properties his firm completed were First National Bank, Bank of the Southwest, American National Bank, Sunset Center, Western Plaza and Boys Ranch. Mr. Denman received the SIR Award Hall of Fame in 1993 from Associated General Contractors. He was a member of Rotary International and a former trustee of High Plains Baptist Hospital. He also was a former trustee of Baptist Urgent Care Center and a board member of High Plains Baptist Auxiliary. He was a trustee, deacon and member of San Jacinto Baptist Church and a member of the Rainbow class. He was a past member of Associated General Contractors, ABC Club and the Gideons of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Burton Denman; and two daughters, Janie Evelyn Denman and Teri Suzanne Denman. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Denman of Grapevine; a daughter, Amy Denman Garcia of Amarillo; two sisters, Frances Cheek and Betty Roller, both of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the San Jacinto Baptist Church television ministry. Dorothy Emma Pearl Cobb Dorothy Emma Pearl Cobb, 91, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Cobb was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. She received her education in Auburn, Maine. She married Maynard Vincent Cobb in 1925. He died in 1981. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shamrock and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was past president of the Shamrock Garden Club. Mrs. Cobb had been a legal secretary for former Judge E.A. Bills of Littlefield and a secretary for former state Sen. Arthur P. Duggan of Littlefield. She was appointed by the governor of Texas to the state auditor's offices in Austin, where she worked for two years. Mrs. Cobb was appointed to the Soil Conservation Service in Hereford, serving in that position during the Dust Bowl years. She later moved back to Littlefield. When World War II broke out, she was appointed secretary to the Lamb County Draft Board. After her husband enlisted and was sent to Naval Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Cobb received a transfer to the Selective Service Headquarters in Washington and worked as a secretary in the office of Gen. Hersey, national commander. In 1942, when her husband was discharged, she moved to Shamrock and lived there for more than 40 years. She lived in Amarillo and Las Vegas before moving to Spring in 1991. Survivors include a son, Dr. Bradford E. Cobb of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. William O. Harris William O "Bill'' Harris, 77, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Wheeler and the Rev. Bob Murphy, both of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by SchoolerGordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Harris was born in Claude and graduated from Claude High School in 1937. While in high school, he was captain of the track team and sports editor of the high school paper. He attended West Texas State College from 1937 to 1940. He was a business major and vice president of Epsilon Beta. He also worked on the college newspaper. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1954 and a master's degree in government administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1956. He also attended the Industrial College of Armed Forces in 1961 and the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. Mr. Harris entered the Army in 1940. He was commissioned at a second lieutenant in 1942. He served as a liaison officer from 1943 to 1945. He was a civilian training officer in Germany in 1949 and a civilian management analyst in Europe from 1949 to 1952. Mr. Harris was a management analyst and a program analyst from 1952 to 1960. He served as an assistant comptroller of the Army from 1963 to 1966 and as deputy comptroller for the Army Materiel Command from 1966 to 1974. He was the financial consultant to the minister of defense before retiring in 1975. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 1966 and the Exceptional Service Award in 1968. He also wrote for the Amarillo GlobeNews for about three years. Mr. Harris married Jeanne Daniel in 1977. Survivors include his wife; a son, William M. Harris of Burke, Va.; a daughter, Sylvia Setash of Manassas, Va.; three stepsons, Shayne Daniel and Doug Daniel, both of Amarillo, and Michael Dale of Arizona; and nine grandchildren. He moved to Amarillo in 1946 from Borger. He was an insulator for Texaco Refinery before retiring. He married Lorene Coffey in 1942 at Grimes. Hughes St. Mr. Shaw was born in Palestine. He and his family moved to Memphis in 1928. They later moved to Amarillo. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church before changing his membership to Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and was honored as Man of the Year in 1996. Mr. Shaw worked as a porter and a school-crossing guard. Survivors include his wife, Mamie; a son, Roy Morris of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1611 N. Washington. Leta Lavenia Sarratt Leta Lavenia Sarratt, 87, of 1011 S. Western St., died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Shannon Rose Hill Chapel in Fort Worth with the Rev. Stephen Hatfield of First Baptist Church of Lewisville officiating. She lived in Childress and then moved to Fort Worth in 1940. She moved to Amarillo in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was a former member of Polytechnic Baptist Church in Fort Worth. She had written articles for the Childress Index. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moody Sarratt, in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Troutt in Amarillo; two sisters, Ima Dell Carrall of Springtown and Jewell Hester of Fort Worth; a brother, Henry Lee Lively of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mark L. Boykin Mark L. Boykin, 81, of Dallas, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Tulia by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Ms. Smith was born in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. She attended West Texas State University. She owned The Smith Agency in Plainview and was a former president of the Plainview Board of Realtors. She worked at the Swisher County Farm Services Agency in Tulia before becoming county executive director of Zavala County in Uvalde. She was serving as county executive director for Hall County in Memphis. Ms. Smith was a member of TASCO and was current president of Memphis Country Club Women's Association. She coached T-ball in Plainview and Memphis for several years. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Wright of Plainview; her parents, Dale and Jean Walker of Plainview; a sister, Michele Devin of Tulia; a brother, Frank Walker of Plainview; and a grandson. Mrs. Brorman was born on a farm in northern Deaf Smith County. She had lived in Vega all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She married Joe Brorman in 1952 at Vega. Survivors include her husband; a son, Andy Brorman of Vega; four daughters, Teresa Barnett and Rose Thurman, both of Vega, Mary Katherine Cresap of Amarillo and Patty Perkins of Katy; two sisters, Jean Brown and Ruth Conn, both of Vega; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hendricks was born in Willow Spring, Mo. She moved to Shamrock from California in 1993. She married Charles Lester Hendricks in 1937 at Joplin, Mo. He died in 1993. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenifer. Mrs. Hendricks was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church. She married Bill Webb in Dimmitt. He died in 1964. She also was preceded in death by a son, Harold Mayes Webb, in 1920. Mrs. Webb was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a life member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Cavin Lee Webb of Amarillo; a grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Johnson was born in Comanche. She was a resident of Canyon before moving to Clarendon in 1971. She married Billy Lee Johnson in 1960 at Adrian. He died in 1984. She was a longtime restaurant owner before retiring. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Kidd of Clarendon and Billie Dawn Francis of Fairbanks, Alaska; four sons, Cal Reed of Amarillo, Garre Reed of Rowlett, Kenneth Reed of Conroe and Don Johnson of Fairbanks; a sister, Cora Wirt of Canyon; four brothers, Brack LaGrone of Nashville, Tenn., Odell LaGrone of Canyon, and Tommy LaGrone and Sam LaGrone, both of Roswell, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Fredice M. Dennis PLAINVIEW - Fredice M. Dennis, 79, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Dennis was born in Dallas. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1936. She received a degree at West Texas State College in Canyon. She did master's work at the University of Texas and the University of Colorado. She taught at Running Water School and Liberty School before working at Plainview Junior High School in 1941. In 1942 she became the speech teacher at Plainview High School, and in 1964 she began teaching English. She retired in 1980. Mrs. Dennis was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and wrote the church paper. She also was the choir director and an elder. She was a member of PEO, the Women's Club of Plainview and Alpha Psi Omega. She married Leonard Paul Dennis in 1948 at Plainview. He died in 1962. Survivors include a son, Mark Dennis of Odessa; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. The family requests memorials be to the Leonard P. English of Hart; and two grandchildren. Clovis James Hunt FRITCH - Clovis James Hunt, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, in Amarillo. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd., in Amarillo. Mr. Hunt was born in Foster, Okla. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Virgie Auldridge in 1948 at Vernon. Mr. Hunt was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Borger. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jerry Hunt of Borger, Danny Hunt of Fritch and Bobby Hunt of North Carolina; two sisters, Merele Searcy of Justin and Pearl Ryder of Benjamin; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Orville Marler FLOYDADA - Orville Marler, 75, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Floydada Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy McGuire, hospital minister for Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Marler was born in Briscoe County. He graduated from Flomot High School and attended West Texas State University. He married Linda Jean Griffith in 1942 at Hollis, Okla. Mr. Marler retired in 1982 as an agent for the ASCS office. He was a volunteer with the Floydada Little League Association for many years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard Marler and Bob Marler, both of Groves, and Steve Marler of Richardson; a daughter, Sandra Frysinger of Amarillo; a sister, Inez Brynum of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Additional services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Stinnett United Methodist Church with the Rev. Landrum Medlock, pastor, and the Rev. Ivan Allen, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery at Pringle by HensonNovak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla. Mr. McCloy was born on the family farm near Morse. He attended country schools, graduating from Pringle grade school and Morse High School. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II. He married Mary Nan Gillispie in 1946 at Morse. They moved to the family ranch near Nara Visa, N.M., and lived there for 13 years. They returned to Morse and built one of the area's first feedlots. Mr. McCloy had been active in the cattle business all his life. He was a member of Cabool First United Methodist Church. He had been living near Cabool part time for the past several years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nanelle Kiser of Cabool; four sons, Allen McCloy of Morse, Billy McCloy of Licking, Mo., Doug McCloy of Dumas and Mark McCloy of Morse; three brothers, Willard "Si'' McCloy and Thane McCloy, both of Morse, and Carson McCloy of La Junta, Colo.; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Morse Baptist Church. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to the Morse Community Center or Morse Park. Mrs. McFarland was born in Decatur, Ark. She attended school in Beaver County. She had been a homemaker all her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She also was a member of the Methodist Marthas, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Beaver Garden Club and the Bridge Club. She married Robert McFarland in 1927 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Sallaska, in 1993. Survivors include two grandchildren, Dane Sallaska and Sabra Smith, both of Stillwater.
