Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Crist Mortuary at Boulder, Colo. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Miss Kinard was born in Dalhart. She had been a hospice nurse. Survivors include a sister, Donna Hinkle of Amarillo. Anthony Tartaro Anthony Tartaro, 49, 1418 Tennant, died Friday Aug. 29, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Assembly of God with the Rev. Cliff H. Houghton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery Field of Valor. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Tartaro was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Amarillo 13 years ago from California. He was a corpsman in the Army during Vietnam. He married Bonnie Eudy in 1986 at Clovis, N.M. Mr. Tartaro worked at Heritage Convalescent Center and was a member of Fairview Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christina Marie Tartaro of Long Beach, Calif; and Lynn Stewart of Amarillo; a son, Anthony "Tony'' Tartaro of Amarillo; a brother, Angelo Joseph Tartaro of San Fernando Valley, Calif., and four grandchildren. Elsewhere Sibyl Long HASKELL - Sibyl Long, 79, formerly of Kermit, died Thursday Aug. 28, 1997. Services were at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ with Dale Huff, Ford Cole and the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial was at 4;30 p.m. in Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. John Cary officiating. Arrangements were by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Long was born in Quanah. She was a homemaker and also worked as a hairdresser. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Northside Baptist Church in Kermit and First Baptist Church in Haskell. She married Barney Eugene Long in 1934 in Quanah. He died in 1987. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Long. Survivors include a son, Gene Long of Haskell; a brother, F.B. Cook of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Josiah Daniel Roberts CHAMBLEE, Ga. - Josiah Daniel Roberts, infant son of Mark and Julie Roberts, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997. The family requests memorials be to Egleston Children's Hospital, 1405 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Ga., 30322. Doris Crouch LORENZO - Doris Crouch, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Lorenzo First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Crouch was born in Haskell County. She had been an Avon salesperson for 29 years. She married Oliver Nelson Crouch in 1930 at Rule. He died in 1986. Mrs. Crouch was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church, the Bible Study Club, the Lorenzo Study Club and the AARP. She moved to Lorenzo from Hunt County in 1952. Survivors include three sons, Doug Crouch of Hereford, Joe Crouch and Jansco Crouch, both of Lubbock; two brothers, D.R. Davis of Lubbock and Clyde Davis of Crosbyton; a sister, Mattie Ruth Payne of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and; 16 great-grandchildren. R.W. Self CROSBYTON - R.W. "Dub'' Self, 68, the mayor of Crosbyton, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin, pastor and the Rev. Harry Pittam, pastor of First Baptist Church in Lovington, officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow in Crosbyton Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Self was born in Spur. He graduated from Klondike High School and attended Texas A&M University. He moved to the Crosbyton area in 1949 from Lamesa. He married Murleen "Blondie'' Harris in 1949 at Lamesa. Mr. Self was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member and past master of Crosbyton Masonic Lodge No. 1020. He was a charter member of Lubbock Scottish Rite and a member of Khiva Temple in Amarillo. He was a former member of the Spur Masonic Lodge. Hill Top was dedicated to him one year in the 1980s. He was a member of the Crosbyton E.M.S. and was named 1997 Emergency Care Attendant of the Year by South Plains Emergency Medical Systems and was named 1997 Emergency Care Attendant of the Year. Mr. Self served as a Crosby County commissioner from 1979-1994 and president of West Texas Judges and Commissioners Association and Vice-President of the Texas Association of Judges and Commissioners. He served on the Crosbyton School Board from 1967-1976 and was named an honorary chapter farmer by Crosbyton FFA. He was named Citizen of the Year in 1988 by the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jacque Stark of Lubbock and Gwen Warren of Lazbuddie; two brothers, Nat Self of Conroe and David Dean of Boise, Idaho; his parents, Lossie and D.J. Dean of Lubbock; a sister, Ramona Madison of Midland; and four grandchildren. Oklahoma Donald Robert Masse GUYMON, Okla. - Donald Robert Masse, 24, died Wednesday Aug. 27, 1997. Prayer vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Peter's with the Rev. Charles Murphy, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Kenneth Hien of Canon City, Colo., assisting. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Masse was born in Redondo Beach, Calif. The Masse family moved to Guymon in 1976. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1991. He graduated magna cum laude from Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in May. He had been the pharmacy manager at Wal-Mart in Guymon since graduation. He was a member of St. Peter's. Survivors include his parents, Don and Judy Masse of Guymon; a sister, Susan Newman of Guymon; a brother, Brian Masse of Guymon; and his grandparents, Robert and Edith Birdsill of Guymon, and Joan Totaro of Redondo Beach. New Mexico Dorothy Elizabeth Welsh Fenter TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Dorothy Elizabeth Welsh Fenter, 76, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with Ellen Fenter, pastor of Cross of Hills United Methodist Church at El Paso, officiating. Mrs. Fenter was born in Norton. She had been a longtime resident of the Tucumcari area before moving to Clovis and most recently El Paso to be near her son. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Clovis Chapter No. 3245. She was a member of the Cross of Hills United Methodist Church. Mrs. Fenter was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Fenter. Survivors include a son, Carl Fenter of El Paso; three sisters, Edna Nicoley, Ethyl Walt and Alta Moncus, all of Tucumcari; and four grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at Dunn Funeral Home from Monday morning until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. J.L. Rhodes LEBANON, Mo. - J.L. Rhodes, 74, a former Portales resident, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lewis Johnson officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mr. Rhodes was raised in the Portales community. He worked for various farms and ranches in the area. He traveled for Gill Cattle Co. working as a carpenter and ranch hand. He worked for Phelps-Dodge Mining Co. for 16 years. He was a member of the Mine Mill Union and Carpenter's Union. He married Dorothy Mae Cole. She died in 1978. He later married Bonnie M. Rascoe in 1983. The couple moved to Missouri in the early 1980s on a farm near Lebanon. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Carrell Rhodes or Marana, Ariz., Charles Rhodes of Lubbock, Texas and Lynn Rhodes of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mae Jacks of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sherrell Lackey of Grand Prairie, Texas; two brothers, Herman Rhodes of Portales, N.M. and Louis Rhodes of Palmyra, Ill.; two sisters, Doris Morgan and Eleta Dunsworth, both of Portales; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Area Ruth Godden CANADIAN - Ruth Godden, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Prairie Dell Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Meller, pastor of Gem City Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Godden was born in Hemphill County and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed by the Canadian Motel, Cat's Paw, Edward Abraham Memorial Home and the Canadian Laundry. She married Lee Godden in 1935 in the Gem City community. He died in 1992. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gene Godden in 1941; and a daughter, Glynda Fay Godden, in 1945. Survivors include a daughter, June Cunningham of Temple; a son, Wesley "Spud'' Godden of Canadian; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and eight greatgreat-grandchildren. Fidel Santos Garcia HEREFORD - Fidel Santos Garcia, 55, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in San Jose Catholic Church at Hereford. Rosary will be recited today and Monday at 7 p.m. in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel with deacon Jesse Guerrero officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Mr. Garcia was born in Lampasos, Mexico. He was a Hereford resident for the past 30 years. He was a truck driver and member of the San Jose Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Maria Luisa Garcia of Hereford; five sons, Roel Garcia, Edmundo Garcia, Alex Garcia and Fidel Garcia of Hereford; and Rudolfo Garcia of Amarillo; his parents, Fructoso and Maria Garcia of Hereford; five brothers; four sisters; and a grandson. Herman Odell Moseley WELLINGTON - Herman Odell Moseley, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, in Wolfforth. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Elvis Pitts, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Moseley was born in Dennis. He graduated from high school at Tell. He received his bachelor of science degree at Hardin-Simmons University. He later attended West Texas State University and received his master's in education from Texas Tech University. He coached Carey High School boys basketball team to a state championship, served as superintendent at Quail for 20 years and five years at Quitaque. He was the principal at Wellman for eight years before retiring in 1978. He married Lucille Newson in 1938 at Childress. She died in 1993. He later married Christine Parkhill Cole in 1994 at Wellington. The couple moved to Wolfforth in June of this year. Mr. Moseley was a member of the Wellington Masonic Lodge and a Master Mason for 60 years. He was a member of Wellington First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Bill Moseley, in 1989. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Betty Johnston of Pampa and Diane Moseley of Lubbock; a stepson, Scott Cole of Abilene; a stepdaughter, Christa Day of Seminole; two sisters, Ellen Cures of Channelview, and Dorothy Burkett of Childress; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Wellington Cemetery Association. Norman Lloyd Welborn CLARENDON - Norman Lloyd Welborn, 71, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Amarillo. Graveside services and Masonic rites will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of Clarendon First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. of Clarendon. Mr. Welborn was born in Batesville, Ark., and had lived in New Mexico for 45 years before moving to Amarillo. He married Letha Odessa "Lea'' Warren in 1950 at Batesville. She died in April of this year. Mr. Welborn graduated from University of Arkansas and was the New Mexico State Construction Engineer for much of his life before his retirement in 1984. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a past master. He held dual memberships in many lodges in New Mexico. He was a member of the Bellet Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque, N.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Sante Fe, N.M. He was a member of Timberon Chapel in Timberon, N.M., and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a sister, Mary Beth White of Duncan, Okla. The family requests memorials be to Timberon Masonic Lodge, Timberon, N.M., 88350. Ola Kroos Garoutte DUMAS - Ola Kroos Garoutte, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hadley Funeral Home Chapel at Windsor, Mo., with the Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery at Windsor. Local arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Other arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Home of Windsor. Mrs. Garoutte was born in Benton County, Mo. She had lived in Dumas since 1960. She was a retired beautician and a member of First Christian Church. She married Fred N. Garoutte in 1934 at Clinton, Mo. He died in February of this year. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Moore of Amarillo and Janet Beaston of Marland, Okla.; a sister, Lorraine McQueen of Windsor, Mo.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing today from 1 to 8 p.m. The family requests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St., Dumas, Texas 79029. Edward K. Haner SPEARMAN - Edward K. Haner, 79, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. in First Christian Church with the Rev. Joseph Weaks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Haner was born in Woodland, Colo. He lived in the area for 39 years, moving from Pampa. He worked for Exxon Corp for 38 years as a field foreman. He married Dorothy Bowsher in 1944 at Amarillo. She died in 1994. Mr. Haner was an elder of First Christian Church and former chairman of the church's board. Survivors include three sons, Gary Haner of Odessa, Dallas Haner of Amarillo and Tommy Haner of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be sent to First Christian Church Building Fund, the American Heart Association or a favorite charity. Eva Cator Pierce SPEARMAN - Eva Cator Pierce, 93, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hansford Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Hansen, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church at Winters, officiating. Mrs. Pierce was born in Hansford County and had lived in the area all of her life. She married Allen Pierce in 1926 at Amarillo. He died in 1987. Mrs. Pierce was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Medlin Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo Vernon of Winters; a sister, Bessie Mitts of Gruver; five grandchildren; and nine grandchildren.
