Monroe St., died Friday, March 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Rex Dowling, an elder at the Quail Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Mr. Hodnett was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo College for two years. He was a salesman and he played the mandolin. He was the former owner and operator of the Barefoot Bar and the Ponderosa Lounge. He was a member of the Parkway Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He married Joyce Ann Rutherford in 1991 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Brett "B.J." Vermillion of the home, Bobby Jack Hodnett Jr. of Canyonville, Ore., Kimmie Hodnett of Amarillo, and Chad Hodnett of Canyon; his mother, Esther A. Shaw of Canyon; three brothers, Jim Hodnett of Amarillo, Dwayne Bevers of Canyon, and Michael Mebane of Lawton, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to Dialysis Specialist of Amarillo, 7205 I-40 W. Space C. Amarillo, Texas 79106. Vera Reck Hall Vera Reck Hall, 84, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy, pastor of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Highland Park Cemetery at Borger. Mrs. Hall was born in Wichita County. She had lived in Amarillo since 1965. She was an administrator for Olsen Park Nursing Home until her retirement in 1976. She married Ralph W. Hall in 1975. She was a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Reck, in 1965, and a son, Howard Reck, in 1993. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ellen Burks of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Catherine Waynette Oakley Catherine Waynette Oakley, 58, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 30, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Southwest Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Alan Ford, pastor, and Dr. M.O. Garner officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Oakley was born in Fort Smith, Ark. She had lived in Amarillo since 1958. She married Don Oakley in 1958 at Fort Smith, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Southwest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Donald Wayne Oakley of Amarillo; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Meyers of Amarillo; two sisters, Rochelle Apple and Rita Dillard, both of Fort Smith, Ark.; two brothers, Keith Spangler and Bruce Spangler, both of Fort Smith, Ark.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Oklahoma Harvey Bennett Edwards BEAVER, Okla., - Harvey Bennett Edwards, 86, died Sunday, March 30, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church with Charles Watson officiating. Burial will be at the Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Edwards was born near Gage. He moved to Beaver County in 1938. He was a high school graduate and a farmer. He married Gracie Fields in 1933 at Gage. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for more than 10 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean Edwards of Beaver, and Lynn Edwards of Guymon; a daughter, Shirley Hauth of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Area Howard Jenkins PLAINVIEW - Howard Jenkins, 68, died Sunday, March 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Jenkins was born in Plainview. He grew up and went to school in Plainview. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict as a sergeant. He married Gwen Oden Jenkins in 1948 at Plainview. He was owner and operator of Jenkin's Sweeper and Stripping Service. He was also a mechanic for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He and his wife owned Gwen's Imports, a flea market in Plainview. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sherry Irene Franks of Lubbock; a son, Randy Jenkins of Plainview; a brother, Dorman Jenkins of Plainview; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Gary Don Kotara WHITE DEER - Gary Don Kotara, 50, died Saturday, March 29, 1997. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel at Pampa. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at White Deer, with Msgr. Kevin Hand, pastor, and Msgr. James Gurzynski of St. Laurence Cathedral in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Kotara was born in Pampa and was a lifelong resident of White Deer. He graduated from White Deer High School in 1965 and attended West Texas State University. He married Sam Bilgri in 1971 at White Deer. He farmed and ranched in the White Deer area for 28 years. He was a former White Deer city councilman and former member of the Carson County Appraisal District review board. He was president and part owner of Tri-County Fertilizer, Inc., and was an honorary chapter farmer for the White Deer FFA Chapter. He was a former Carson County election judge and former precinct chairman for the Democratic Party. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a fourth degree member of the Father Dunn Assembly of Knights of Columbus in Amarillo. He was also a member of the Frank Keim Council of the Knights of Columbus in Pampa. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rachel Kotara of Dallas, and Jill Kotara of the home; two sons, Kent Kotara of Austin, and Daniel Kotara of the home; his mother, Theresa Kotara of White Deer; two brothers, Maynard Kotara and John Kotara, III., both of White Deer; four sisters, Joy Grange of White Deer, Marilyn Voyles of Corpus Christi, Gaylene Blaylock of San Antonio, and Debbie Huff of Grand Prairie. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Glenn Dawkins PAMPA - Glenn Dawkins, 70, died Saturday, March 29, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery with Dr. R.L. Kirk, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Dawkins was born in Tahoka. He came to Pampa in 1936 from New Mexico. He married Julia Marie Bell in 1945 at Pampa. He was a local cattleman and oil producer. He was a former president of Gray County Farm Bureau and had been active in area politics. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Glennette Goode of Pampa; and a grandson. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity.
