Georgia St. Mrs. Barnard was born in Hedley and moved to Amarillo in 1940. She graduated from Amarillo High School. After 39 years, she retired as manager of operator services of Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Heritage Choir and Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She married Leon Barnard in 1947 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Janeann Mott of Amarillo; a son, Dale L. Barnard of Amarillo; her mother, Elsie Burdine of Amarillo; two sisters, Rouena Montgomery and Ralene Talley, both of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell, Amarillo, TX 79109. M.C. Vincent M.C. "Chick" Vincent, 74, of Amarillo, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Robert Field of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Vincent moved to Amarillo 55 years ago from Albany, N.Y. He was a retired journeyman plumber and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Bernice Marie Keeter in 1972 in Amarillo. She died in 1995. Survivors include a son, Clay Vincent of the home; two daughters, Audia of Amarillo and Mindy of Fritch; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Zela Elizabeth Graham Zela Elizabeth Graham, 94, a former Amarillo resident, of Raeford, N.C., died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with her nephew, the Rev. Jerry H. Boles, a retired Presbyterian minister of Dumas, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Graham was born in Hollis, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She helped in the operation of a grocery store with her father, Charles Boles. After his death she continued running the store. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She married Glen Forson in 1925. He died in 1960. She married John B. Graham in 1965 at Waxahachie. He also preceded her in death. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Emily Rodriquez of Raeford; three stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. Madeline Grisham Madeline Grisham, 92, of Manitou Springs, Colo., and a longtime resident of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St., with Dr. Charles Jones of Second Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Grisham was born in Altoga and moved to Amarillo in 1949 where she received her LVN degree from Amarillo College. For 20 years, she was a nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital and Amarillo Air Force Base. She had been a member of Second Baptist Church since 1949. She married Lloyd Cecil Grisham in 1925 at Altoga. He died in 1971. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Janie Carson of Amarillo; a sister, Billie Price of Houston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight greatgreat-grandchildren. O.J. Young O.J. "Ozzie" Young, 82, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Young was born in Clinton, Okla., and moved to Amarillo 53 years ago. He retired as freight clerk for the Santa Fe Railway. He was a member of Sanborn Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fronell Young, in 1985. Pauline Nelson Pauline Nelson, 87, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Albuquerque, N.M. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western, with Dr. Gil Lain and Dr. Shad Rue officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Mausoleum by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Nelson was born in Clarksville, Ark., and moved to Oklahoma as a young girl. She married Denzil Nelson in Hollis, Okla. They moved to Artesia, N.M., where they established an appliance business. They then moved to Amarillo where they founded Circle N Appliance Store. Mrs. Nelson was an artist and taught painting for many years. Several of her paintings hang in Baptist St. Anthony Hospital. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and by a son, Jerry Nelson, in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Moore of Albuquerque; three sisters, Tomie Chumley of Hollis, Willa Coleman of Red Bluff, Calif., and Bobbye Creek of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was in banking in Nara Visa and Albuquerque before moving to Amarillo 48 years ago. From 1950 until her retirement in 1987, she was a bank officer for First National Bank of Amarillo. Mrs. McGuire was a longtime member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She married C.S. McGuire, who preceded her in death in 1994. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Milford Misener officiating. Burial was in Terrace Grove Cemetery by Romero Funeral Home. Mr. LaMunyon was born in Vega, Texas. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Santa Fe Railway, working out of Gallup. He had lived in Belen for the past 10 years and recently had been involved with the breeding and raising of quarter horse racehorses. He was Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry LaMunyon. Catarina Ruiz MELROSE, N.M. - Catarina Ruiz, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998. Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today in Muffley Funeral Home. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She married Gonzolo Ruiz in 1953 at Mexico. Kelly Kellum officiating. Burial was in the Liberal Cemetery by Kitch Funeral Directors. Mr. Roehr was born in Liberal. He was a self-employed automobile salesman in Liberal most of his working life. He was a veteran of World War II, a member and steward of the Friends Church, a member of the Elks Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Dorothy Floyd in 1985. The family requests memorials be to the Liberal Friends Church. Edward Lee Akins CLINTON, Tenn. - Edward Lee Akins, 54, a former Amarillo resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in Piney Grove Baptist Church in Heiskell with the Rev. Joe North officiating. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton. Mr. Akins was born and raised in Amarillo where he attended school. He was a veteran of the Navy. His career as a country and gospel singer included performances at the Big Texan and in Tennessee, plus five albums. In Amarillo, he was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. In Clinton, he was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was employed as a truck driver for PBX Trucking. He moved from Amarillo to Tennessee about five years ago. He married Brenda Phillips 18 years ago at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Jane Adkins. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Ann Braxton, and Cindy Busey, both of Amarillo, and Tammy Ledford of Jackson, Ga.; a son, Steven Sieber of Clinton; his parents, Charles and Dorothy Akins of Amarillo; a sister, Denise Stout of Amarillo; two brothers, Thomas R. Akins of Center Point and Jay W. Akins of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Dorothae Vivian Gray Burns NAIROBI, Kenya - Dorothae Vivian Gray "Dot" Burns, 95, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998 in Kenya. Services were held in Kenya. Mrs. Burns was born in Bowie and moved to New Mexico Territory in 1910. Her family homesteaded near Nara Visa where she was raised and spent most of her life. She became a school teacher and at one time taught on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Pueblo Bonito. Mrs. Burns then moved to California where she was a model, the motion picture representative for the May Co., and played with a symphony in Los Angeles. She returned to Nara Visa to help run the family ranch. After the death of her husband, she managed his businesses, which included ranching, lumber, hardware stores and a bank. Mrs. Burns became a bank president. She was involved in politics and civic activities that included the advisory board of New Mexico Cattle Growers, New Mexico Cattle Growers' research board, New Me xico Livestock Sanitary Board, Quay County Rural Development Board, the President's Commission of Poverty, state the of New Mexico credential director and U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In 1986, she retired and moved to Kenya. She married John Burns at Nara Visa. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, John R. Burns. Survivors include her daughter, Casey of Kenya; and her sister, Ouida "Bo" of Kenya. Area C.O. Pryor PAMPA - C.O. "Ned" Pryor, 83, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Pryor was born in Farmersville and moved to Pampa in 1936. He worked for 47 years at Phillips Petroleum as head of the instrument section. He was a Methodist. He volunteered at Coronado Nursing Home and other area nursing homes for 25 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Mary Louise Adams in 1939 at Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, N. Franklin Pryor of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Martha Lee Conner of Wichita Falls and Lynne Pryor of Albuquerque; two sisters, Juanita Sidwell of Texline and Oleta Crider of Garland; six grandchildren; and two stepgrandsons. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Robert Eugene Burton SUNRAY - Robert Eugene "Bob" Burton, 76, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. Mr. Burton was born in Bryan County, Okla., and moved to Pensacola, Fla., in 1992 from Sunray where he had lived since 1948. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had worked at the Phillips 66 Refinery at Borger after retiring from American Zinc, where he worked from 1972 to 1986. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He married Billie June Vails in 1948 at Durant, Okla. She died in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Zelda Lackey of Pensacola and Paula Jones of Dumas; two sons, Paul Burton and Gil Burton, both of Sunray; two sisters, Gladys Smith of Oklahoma City and Juanita McCord of Navasota; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leggitt was born in Clarendon and was a lifelong resident of Hedley before moving to Georgetown in 1991. She was a 73-year member of First Baptist Church in Hedley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Leggitt, in 1979. Survivors include two sons, Jon Leggitt and Tom Leggitt, both of Georgetown; two daughters, Judy Spier of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joan Reeves of Havana, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A farmer and rancher, he served on the Grandview School Board, was director of Groom Co-op and member of the board of directors of Highland General Hospital in Pampa. He was a Mason and member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He married Juandell Cruse 50 years ago at Groom. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ritter, in 1979. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marla Overstreet of Lubbock; a son, Troy Ritter of Groom; two sisters, Arlene Wallace and Geraldine Wood, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Chris Downer officiating. Burial will be in Goodnight Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born in Crowell and lived in Goodnight from 1955 until 1994 when he moved to Clarendon. He was a rancher and member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Kay E. Rasberry in 1953 at Crowell. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Deborah Marshall of Hedley and Jan Jones of Roaring Springs; a sister, Helen Owens of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Johnnie Moore Jones Jr. PAMPA - Johnnie Moore Jones Jr., 70, of Fort Lyons, Colo., died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Jones was born in Kirkland and attended Hopkins No. 2 School, Pampa Junior High School and Pampa High School. He graduated from Lefors High School in 1948. He was an Army veteran of World War II in Germany. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Pampa and Borger. He had been a resident of Fort Lyons for the past 30 years. He married Florene Williams in 1951. Survivors include two daughters, Cathleen and Jennifer; and three sisters, Janis Cunningham of Perryton, Jolynn Cash of Pampa and Joyce Hutsell of Groom. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. Mrs. Douglas was born in Hulen, Okla. In 1979, she moved to Pampa from Shamrock. She was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. She married James Douglas in 1939 at Farmersville. He died in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Ann Bradshaw of Denton and Linda Thompson of Pampa; a sister, Gwen Foshee of Sunray; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Edith Alderson DARROUZETT - Edith Alderson, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Darrouzett with the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in the DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett, Okla., by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Alderson was born south of Arnett and graduated from Arnett schools in 1928. She married George C. Truitt in 1931 and they lived in the Bishop community. He died in 1957. In 1960, Mrs. Alderson married James E. Alderson at Woodward. They lived on a farm near Arnett until his death in 1970 when she moved to Arnett. In 1993, she moved to Darrouzett where she attended the First United Methodist Church. She also was preceded in death by a son, Richard Truitt. Survivors include two daughters, Anita Schoenhals of Shattuck, Okla., and Georgia Yauck of Darrouzett; a sister, Alice Pratt of Borger; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
