She had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Canadian and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Amarillo. She had been married to Henry Ramirez for 69 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Knight. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Annie Ortega of Amarillo; a son, Ray Ramirez of Amarillo; three brothers, Leon Esquivel of Belen, N.M., Domingo Esquivel of Greenfield, Wis., and Manuel Esquivel of Palm Springs, Calif.; three sisters, Angie Randolph of Amarillo, Juanita Cable of El Paso, and Ramona Preciado of Diamond Bar, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony's Auxiliary. She married Lester M. McCoy in 1925. He died 1984. She also was preceded in death by a son, Lester McCoy, in 1987. Mr. Alberts was born in Lincoln where he attended public schools. He had been an Amarillo resident for more than 35 years. She graduated from Spearman High School and Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Mack retired after more than 50 years as a nurse. She was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church and NWTH Nursing Alumni Association. She married Robert M. Mack in 1944 at Oklahoma City. He died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Joe D. New Mexico Hattie Bailey PORTALES, N.M. - Hattie Bailey, 93, died Monday, June 29, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Bailey and the Rev. Harvey Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary Inc. Mr. Bailey was born in Norwood, Mo., and moved to New Mexico around 1914 and homesteaded north of Newkirk. She married J.C. "Clay" Bailey in 1931 at Tucumcari. They lived on ranches in the Newkirk and Quervo areas until 1945 when they moved to Fort Sumner. In 1960, they moved to Portales. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991 and also by a son, Roy "Buddy" Roland Bailey. Survivors include three sons, J.C. Bailey of Fort Sumner, Ted Bailey of Portales and Harvey Bailey of Henderson, Texas; three daughters, Shirley Owens of Clovis, Georgia Kelly and Marie Fox, both of Portales; three brothers, John H. Carl Dendy PORTALES, N.M. - Carl Dendy, 101, died Monday, June 29, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales with the Rev. Gene Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Portales Cemetery. Mr. Dendy moved to Jackson County, Okla., when he was 14 years old. He moved to Portales in 1927. He was a farmer and a carpenter until his retirement. He was a charter member of the Senior Citizen Center and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star and the Historic Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, in 1978. Survivors include three sons, W.E. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Jones moved to Guymon from Pampa in 1962. He retired in 1981 after 36 years of service from Phillips Petroleum. With his wife, he was a charter member of Grace Southern Baptist Church. He married Delma Clara Rickman in 1947 at Lefors. Survivors include his wife; three children, B.K. Jones of Dallas, Janet Bouton of Clovis, N.M., and Gary Pierce of San Francisco; a sister, Lorene Cliett of Twin Fall, Idaho; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Canyon Staff Sgt. Frank Todd Anderson Staff Sgt.Frank Todd Anderson, 31, of Canyon, stationed in Fort Benning, Ga., died Friday, June 26, 1998, in Florida. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Charles Price, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Staff Sgt. Anderson was born and raised in Canyon where he graduated from Canyon High School. He had served in the Army for 14 years, held a Ranger Tab and was a Ranger Instructor. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canyon. Among the awards that Staff Sgt. Anderson received were the National Defense Service ribbon, three Army Good Conduct medals, three Army Achievement medals, two Overseas Service ribbons and the Army Service ribbon. He received badges for Expert Rifle and Hand Grenade, Dragon Gunner, Jump Master, Expert Infantryman's, Distinguished Rifleman's, President's 100, Pathfinder, Combat Scuba Diver and Air Assault. He married Susan Jones in 1995 at Columbus, Ga. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Amanda F. Beeler-Anderson of Converse; his parents, James and Glenna Anderson of Canyon; two brothers, Kent Anderson and Cody Anderson, both of Canyon; two sisters, Batina Foster of San Leon and Julie Carlile of Germany; and his grandparents, Vergie and Ray Hawkins of Canyon. The family requests memorials be to one's favorite charity. Area Helen May Dyck Cook VEGA - Helen May Dyck Cook, 89, died Sunday, June 28, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Vega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Phillips, pastor, and the Rev. Steve Campbell, of Agape United Methodist Church of Lubbock, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mrs. Cook was born and raised in Moundridge, Kan. She taught school at Moundridge. She married Kenneth Marion Cook in 1932 at Moundridge. They moved to Texas to farm during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. The moved back to Kansas, where they lived for a few years before returning to Texas to the old MeCaskey place, south of Adrian. They moved to Vega in 1943. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in the cattle business and on the farm. She was an active member of Vega United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She was a self-taught pianist and often played the piano and organ at church services. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Dean Cook of Enid, Okla., and Lanny Michael Cook of Vega; four daughters, Norma Jean Johnson of Dallas, Kathleen Helen Tolbert of Denver, Sharon Eva Baynham of Vega and Marian Lee Horsley of Lake Charles, La., two sisters, Irene Berger of Odessa and Marguerite Hall of McPherson, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Adah Bessie Lawver BORGER - Adah Bessie Lawver, 90, died Monday, June 29, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Westlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Roger A. Harwerth, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Miss Lawver was born in Wood City, Mo., and had been a Borger resident for 54 years. She was a first-grade teacher for 32 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Brookins TULIA - Jerry L. Brookins, 42, died Saturday, June 27, 1998. He worked for Excel of Plainview in the storage division. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Springer was born in Mansfield. She moved in 1948 to Hedley, where she farmed. She was a homemaker and active in the First United Methodist for many years. She married George Ross Springer in 1920 at Lakeview. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Don Springer of Memphis; a sister, Omah Marksbury of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Clinton Norman DODSON - Clinton Norman, 78, died Monday, Junec 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dodson Nazarene Church with the Rev. Joe Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, and the Rev. Keith Beverly, pastor of New Abundant Life Fellowship in Wellington, officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Norman was born in Ogden community of Cottle County. He moved to Arlie in 1926 from Ogden and graduated from school in Arlie. He farmed in the Fresno and Rolla communities before moving to Dodson in 1944. Mr. Norman was a custom harvester and a used farm equipment trader who retired from farming in 1993. With his wife, Ruth, he served as co-pastor of New Abundant Life Fellowship, where he also was a member. He married Johnnie Fern Ford in 1937 at Dodson. She died in 1965. His second marriage was to Ruth Hightower in 1967 at Shamrock. She died in May. Survivors include a son, Bub Norman of Hollis; a daughter, Kay Mead of Wellington; a stepson, John Hightower of Plainview; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Rowe of Dodson; a brother, Guyon Norman of Dodson; a sister, Elowee Seymour of Wellington; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Dodson Cemetery Association. Lottie Medora Shoemaker Evans SHAMROCK - Lottie Medora Shoemaker Evans, 83, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shamrock Cemetery with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Evans was born in Boi Coi, Romania. She moved to Shamrock in 1929 from Montana. While in Shamrock, she was employed as a lab and X-ray technician. She later lived in Groom and Alpine, where she retired from Brewster County Hospital. After her retirement, Mrs. Evans moved to Belize, Central America and worked in an Indian hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a Methodist. She married T.A. Evans in 1939 at Shamrock. He died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Robert Andrews Evans of Waco; a daughter, Alice Mechler of Waco; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Jess Moore WHEELER - Jess Moore, 89, died Monday, June 29, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Moore was born in Granbury and moved to Wheeler County in 1918. He was a longtime farmer and rancher. He served on the board of directors of the First National Bank of Wheeler for 20 years, was a member of the state ASCS committee and a member of the Wheeler County ASCS. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Curtis Coraetta Ashley in 1933 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Margaret Pendleton of Wellington, Bonnie Wuerflein of Hereford, Eileen Huyck of Kansas City, Mo., and Nancy Schilling of Follett; his twin sister, Bess Cole of Dalhart; two brothers, Raymond Moore of Kelton and E.M.
