Mrs. Malone was born in Sacramento, Calif. She was a former resident of Childress. She was an LVN for 22 years. She was a member of Christ Gospel Church of Wichita Falls. Survivors include her husband, Danny Prado of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Christie Hoover of Amarillo and Sue E. Martin of Iowa Park; and two granddaughters. Minnie Pauline Orr PAMPA - Minnie Pauline Orr, 74, formerly of Pampa, died Monday, April 27, 1998, in Kingsford, Mich. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Larry Brown, family life minister of Mary Ellen & Harvest Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Orr was born in Lawton, Okla. She was a longtime Pampa resident before recently moving to Michigan. She was a retired waitress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Orr, in 1987; by a son, Raymond Orr, in 1983; and by a daughter, Rosetta Lowe, in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Billy Orr of Dallas, Curtis Orr of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Kyle Orr of Florida; a daughter, Gloria Jean Blue of Odessa; two brothers, George Hitt and Bob Hitt, both of Lawton; two sisters, Pearl Dobson and Lela Mae Lawson, both of Lawton; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Amarillo Alfred D. Hessenthaler Alfred D. Hessenthaler, 79, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Coulter Road Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Payne, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Hessenthaler was born in Davis, Ill. He moved to Amarillo in 1992 from Guymon, Okla. He was a plant operator for Phillips Petroleum. He retired in 1981 from the Phillips Sherhan Petroleum Plant south of Guymon after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran. He attended Coulter Road Baptist Church. He was a member of and a past Master of Gruver Masonic Lodge 1326. He also was a past member of Guymon Masonic Lodge 335. Mr. Hessenthaler married Bobbye Clement in 1949 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnathon Hessenthaler of Amarillo; two daughters, Danell Mauldin of North Little Rock, Ark., and Denise Hicks of Amarillo; three sisters, Rose Hessenthaler, Elsie Hessenthaler and Minnie Hessenthaler, all of Durand, Ill.; and four grandchildren. Erben Oates, 62, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 27, 1998. A wake will be at 7 p.m. today in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel of Roses, 509 N. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. The Rev. Oates was born in Paris, Texas. He attended Baldwin Elementary School and graduated from Gibbons High School in Paris. He worked as a brakeman for Burlington Northern Railroad until retiring. He was a minister at Victory Temple COGIC. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, Earl W. Oates of Amarillo; five daughters, Debra Oates Kirk of Grand Prairie, and Patricia Brown, Theresa Kelly, Sonja Oates and Marie Oates, all of Amarillo; an adopted daughter, Bessie Mitchell of Amarillo; a sister, Ruby Jewell Hearn of Paris; and 12 grandchildren. The family will be at 1805 N. Wilson. Peggy Douglass Peggy Douglass, 67, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Andrew Willis officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Douglass was born in San Diego. She moved to Amarillo 29 years ago. She was the executive secretary for J. Lee Milligan in Amarillo. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include five sons, William Douglass III, Michael C. Douglass, Steven Douglass, Paul Hansen Douglass and Richard James Douglass, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Shelley Sparks of Amarillo; two sisters, Marylin Sonderegger of Sugar City, Idaho, and Bernice Maugham of Logan, Utah; and 16 grandchildren. FORRESTER Mrs. Mack Forrester Mrs. Mack Forrester, 88, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Garrett, pastor, and the Rev. Howard Childers, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Forrester was born in Dallas and had lived in Amarillo since 1932. She was a homemaker and was president of the Mack Forrester Ranch. She was involved in the YWCA and the Amarillo Federation of Women. She was past president of the Wolflin PTA, the Elizabeth Nixson PTA, the Stephen F. Austin PTA, the Sandie Football Mothers Club, the Texas A&M Mothers Club and the Child Welfare Club. She also was past president of the Primero Study Club, the Zontas Club and the Amarillo Day Nursery. Mrs. Forrester was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, where she served as past president of the Co-Workers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Forrester, in 1957; and by a son, Ken Forrester, in 1986. Survivors include three sons, Carroll Mack Forrester, Richard H. Forrester and Robert D. Forrester, all of Amarillo; a sister, Ollie Mae Andersen of Fort Worth; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be in Llano Cemetery with Phil Mercado, pastor of Trinity Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Williams was born in Marlow, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1963. He served with the Army as a field medic during the Korean War. He was a supervisor for Hill-Lines, which later became ICX, for 35 years. He retired in 1985. He married Mary "Mickey" Lane in 1953 at Bloomington, Calif. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Melody Gallegos of Amarillo and Cindy Fulfer of Monahans; a son, John Williams of Amarillo; a sister, Myrtle Epperson of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, D.C. Williams of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the Trinity Lutheran Church building fund. Elsewhere Winifred Ann Estes Winifred Ann Estes, 90, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in Studio City, Calif. Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills by Forest Lawn Mortuary. She was born in Clay City, Ky. She lived in Los Angeles County for 53 years and had been a resident of Studio City for four years. Survivors include a son, Alan Estes. Joe Brooks BRECKENRIDGE - Joe Brooks, 61, formerly of Perryton, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Melton Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery near Newcastle. Mr. Brooks retired from Texas-New Mexico Power & Light as an electrical engineer. He was a volunteer firefighter. He coached YMCA football, basketball and baseball. He also was involved with the Boy Scouts. He was Baptist. He married Mary Lee Walker in 1956 at Newcastle. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sue Jo Bond of Muleshoe; three sons, Bobby Jack Brooks of Pilot Point, Randy Brooks of Amarillo and David Allen Brooks of Lewisville; his mother, Johnnie Lee Williams of Breckenridge; two sisters, Rea Donohue of Breckenridge and Billie Jacobson of Eden; three brothers, James Brooks and Guy Brooks, both of Sunset, and Pooch Williams of Newcastle; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Monty Joe Ballard BURLINGTON, Colo. - Monty Joe Ballard, 67, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. Services will be today in Cope Community Church in Cope with Terry Colvert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cope Cemetery by Hendricks-Love Mortuary. Mr. Ballard was born in Hollister, Okla. He moved with his family when he was 16 to the Flagg community near Dimmitt, Texas, where they farmed. He graduated from Dimmitt High School and attended West Texas State College at Canyon and Sul Ross University at Alpine. He graduated in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in range animal science. He married Maxine George in 1958. He farmed in the Flagg community for 30 years before moving to Vona in 1989. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy McDonald of Happy and Kay Ballard of Lubbock; a son, Kelly Ballard of Vona; and a grandson. The family requests memorials be to Caring Hands Hospice c/o Bank of Burlington. Luther Miles Britt ELECTRA - Luther Miles Britt, 81, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nick Anzalone, pastor of New Life Restoration Church, and the Rev. James Gilbert, assistant pastor of Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park. Mr. Britt was born in Honey Grove. He was a former resident of Throckmorton and had lived in Electra for 56 years. He was an Army veteran, having served from 1941 to 1945. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in maintenance at the Electra Post Office for many years before retiring in 1992. He attended New Life Restoration Church. Mr. Britt married Lucille Lynn in 1946 at Electra. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Johnny Britt and Pat Britt, both of Wichita Falls; a sister, Lorene Scott of Corpus Christi; and two grandchildren. MAPLE Fred D. Maple LUBBOCK - Fred D. Maple, 85, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, in Amarillo, with the Rev. Ken Peterson of O'Donnell and the Rev. Ron Kelley of Kress officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Mr. Maple was born in Indiahoma, Okla. He moved to Claude in the mid1940s from Oklahoma. He lived in Claude until moving to Dumas in 1957. He lived in Plainview from 1978 to 1997. He was living in Lubbock at the time of his death. He was self-employed. He owned and operated Dumas Locker in Dumas after spending many years farming and ranching. He retired in 1978. He was a member of the Lions Club in Dumas and was past president of the Texas / Oklahoma Locker Association. He was Baptist. Mr. Maple married Jennola Crownover in 1938 at Claude. Survivors include his wife; two sons, DeWarren Maple of Superior, Neb., and Timothy Maple of Bedford; a daughter, Mary Kelley of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. New Mexico Rode Dimitroff CLAYTON, N.M. - Rode Dimitroff, 81, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Husted, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Dimitroff was born in Boulder, Colo. He graduated from Grenville High School in 1934. He married Thelma Dimitroff in 1938 at Clayton. They farmed and ranched in Union County near Sofia. In 1940, they moved to California, where Mr. Dimitroff worked as a welder during World War II. They returned to Union County in 1945. Mrs. Dimitroff died in 1995. Mr. Dimitroff drove a school bus for the Clayton School District for 33 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Ellis of Amistad; a son, Rodney Dimitroff of Clayton; two sisters, Mary White of Albuquerque and Donca Rider of Prescott, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Maggie P. Baca CLOVIS, N.M. - Maggie P. Baca, 94, died Thursday, April 30, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in The Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. Carlos Chavez. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Baca was born in Puerto de Luna. She married Anastacio R. Baca in 1934 at Santa Cruz. She worked as a school teacher in Las Vegas, N.M. and the surrounding ranching communities. She moved to Clovis in 1941 and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Survivors include her husband; five sons, Jessie Baca of Clovis, Daniel Baca and Raymond Baca, both of the home, Jimmy Baca of Los Lunas and Albert Baca of Albuquerque; three daughters, Antonia of Albuquerque, Rita Gonzalez of Phoenix and Angie Schmidt of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister, Tina Lopez of Albuquerque; a brother, Alfonzo Padilla of Santa Rosa; three half brothers, Frank Padilla, Bonney Padilla and Louis Padilla, all of Albuquerque; two half sisters, Amelia C. De Baca of Newkirk and Fabiola Aragon of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Lottie John Durfey LOGAN, Okla. - Lottie John Durfey, 96, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kiowa Cemetery with the Rev. Neil Ragan officiating. Arrangements are by Seeger Funeral Home of Laverne. Mrs. Durfey was born northwest of Seiling and had been a lifelong Oklahoma resident. She completed the eighth grade and attended two years of high school at Seiling. She married Horace Franklin Durfey in 1920 at Seiling. They established their home at Logan in Beaver County, where Mrs. Durfey lived for 78 years before moving to Shattuck Nursing Home in January. She was a member of the Logan Extension Club of Beaver for 58 years. Mrs. Durfey was preceded in death by her husband in 1958 and by a son, George, in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Elmer "Pete" Durfey of Logan and Milburn "Slim" Durfey of Caruthers, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
