Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bolton Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Green officiating. Services in Indiana will be handled by Barns Mortuary at Rockville, Ind. Mr. Ames was born in Indiana and moved to Texas in the early 1960s. Before moving to Texas, he farmed. In Amarillo, he worked for Abal Auto Sales. He was a member of Bolton Street Baptist Church. He married Cordelia Hilliard in 1974 in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Dianna Sheffield in 1984. Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Felton Hilliard of Ballinger and Kelly Hilliard of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Sandra Boydston of Amarillo and Betty Ellis of Fort Worth; his mother, Mary Helen Martin of Carbon, Ind.; a sister, Marilyn Smith of Hereford; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Lunch will be provided at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Bolton Street Baptist Church for family and friends. Wilma Pearce Wilma Pearce, 56, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998. She married Floyd Eugene Pearce in 1964. She was a retired corporate executive secretary. Burial will be in Natchez Trace Cemetery at Madison, Miss., by Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson, 1525 Beasley Road. Mr. Holleman was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He and his wife, Martha, taught in the Amarillo public school system until retiring and moving to Jackson. He had taught at Palo Duro High School. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Odell Holleman of Denver; and a sister, Curley Black of Buffalo, N.Y. Kenneth F. Magina SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Kenneth F. Magina, 58, a former resident of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel in Georgia with the Rev. Varon Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. Emma Faye Benton LIBERAL, Kan. - Emma Faye Benton, 91, a former resident of Borger, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, in Borger. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Church of the Nazarene in Liberal with the Rev. Don Patrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cherryvale Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kan. Local arrangements are by Brown's Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Benton was a native of Elk City and had been a Liberal resident for 30 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of the Nazarene in Liberal. Mrs. Benton lived in Borger from 1937 until 1964. She owned and operated Borger's first Dairy Queen in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Clay Benton, in 1974, and a son, Derrell Benton, in 1940. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co., where he was an operator. He was a Baptist church member. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Fay; a daughter, Brenda Faye Dorman; and a son, Benjamin Shawn Dorman. Georgia Estes TULIA - Georgia Estes, 90, of Burleson and a former resident of Tulia, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with James Pope of Colonial Baptist Church of Plainview officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mrs. Estes was born and raised in Brock, Okla., where she attended schools. She moved to Tulia in 1951. She was employed in several cafes and was active in the Senior Citizens and the Satellite Center. Mrs. Estes was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. She moved to Burleson in 1993. She married Lon Estes in 1925 at Brock. He preceded her in death in 1960. Survivors include a daughter, Mae Jean Smith of Eugene, Ore.; three sons, Jerry Don Estes of Burleson, Glen Arnold Estes of Amarillo and Kenneth Deen Estes of Plainview; a sister, Millie Mapp of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. The family will be at the home of Deen Estes, 2308 Norma in Plainview. They suggest memorials be to the Satellite Center of Tulia. Juan Sigala MULESHOE - Juan Sigala, 74, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998. Mr. Sigala was born in Redford. He moved to Muleshoe from Presidio in 1975. He was employed as a farm laborer and was a member of Primera Iglesia Baptista. He married Maria Gonzales in 1976 at Muleshoe. Groves Burum PANHANDLE - Groves Burum, 94, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Panhandle Cemetery with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Panhandle, and the Rev. Doug Harvey, pastor of First Christian Church of Panhandle, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mr. Burum was born in Le High, Okla. He moved to Panhandle in 1911 and to Arkansas in the 1960s. He returned to Panhandle in 1985. He was a farmer and a Methodist. He owned and piloted the first airplane in Carson County. He married Jerusha Gripp in 1925. She died in 1995. Survivors include a son, Earl Burum of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Billie Poteet of Panhandle; a brother, Kenneth Burum of Tempe, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was a member of the Bluegrass Association of Amarillo and the Country Western Association of Nashville. Survivors include two sons, Harvey DeWayne Dodson of Farmington, N.M., and Archie Ray Campbell of Lawton, Okla.; two daughters, Kathleen Johnson of Yellow Jacket, Colo., and LaWana Dodson of Mesa; a brother, Junior Key of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Aline Ash of Canyon and Peggy Moss of Dallas; and 14 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Charlie Galloway Weir MEMPHIS - Charlie Galloway Weir, 98, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Anderson, minister of Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Weir was born in Okolona, Ark. He moved to Memphis in 1928 from Fort Worth. In 1966, he retired as a route driver for Coca-Cola. He married Alma Hodge in 1932 at Memphis. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a stepson, Curtis Castro of Lubbock; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Ruth Smith Roberson HEREFORD - Ruth Smith Roberson, 80, of El Paso, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Methodist Church in Hereford. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home West of El Paso. Mrs. Roberson had been an El Paso resident for five years. She lived in Truth or Consequences, N.M., from 1984 until 1993. She had been employed as a sales clerk in a clothing store. She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.J. "Jack" Wilson. Survivors include her husband, Deward B. Roberson; two sons, Tunny Wilson and Mike Wilson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Gabino Castillo DUMAS - Gabino Castillo, 24, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Castillo was born in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico and had lived in Dumas for six years. He was a Catholic and supervisor for New Way Pork. He married Marcela Holguin in 1993 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jaime Castillo and Lorenzo Castillo, both of the home; his parents, Jose and Martina Castillo of Dumas; three brothers, Manuel Castillo, Gabriel Castillo and Federico Castillo, all of Dumas; and a sister, Virginia Rodriquez of Dumas. The family will be at home seven miles southwest of Dumas.
