Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Jim Prock, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Langwell was born in Welty, Okla., and raised in Hemphill County. She married Johnnie Langwell in 1933 at Woodward, Okla. They moved to Perryton in 1948 where they owned and operated Ray's Cafe. Mrs. Langwell moved to Pampa in 1953 with her husband. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include four sons, J.B. Langwell of Littlefield, Eddie Langwell and Gary Don Langwell, both of Amarillo, and Lawrence Langwell of The Colony; two sisters, Louise Noel of Duncanville and Loretta Edwards of Houston; a brother, Clay Reames of Perryton; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. J.A. Hall SUNRAY - J.A. "Peete" Hall, 90, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrisons Funeral Directors. Mr. Hall was born in Gorman and had been a Sunray resident since the 1920s. He was a farmer and drilled the first irrigation well in Moore County. He was one of the first Moore County committeemen elected to the North Plains Water District where he served from 1956 until 1996. He was a member of Sunray Baptist Church. He married Mary Lorraine Crume in 1930 at Tierra Amarilla, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Jane Walker of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 310 East Fifth in Sunray. They request memorials be to Sunray Baptist Church, Box 550, Sunray, Texas, 79086. Mary Bula Martindale Hiett SHAMROCK - Mary Bula Martindale Hiett, 95, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Norman Jones, pastor of Primitive Baptist Church in Snyder, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hiett was born in Sommerville County and moved to Shamrock in a covered wagon in 1919 with her family. She worked in the Shamrock community until her retirement at age 82. She had been a member of the Lone Mound Primitive Baptist Church since 1928. She married George "Jack" Hiett in 1920 at Dozier. Survivors include two sons, J.B. Hiett of Shamrock and Bill Hiett of Tulia; a daughter, Ruby Smith of Clovis, N.M.; two brothers, Buck Martindale of Dozier and Bart Martindale of Shamrock; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Gladys R. Mason PLAINVIEW - Gladys R. Mason, 88, of Paradise, Calif., and a native of Plainview, died Saturday, July 18, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Plainview Cemetery with Dell Kline, Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, Plainview Chapter, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Mason was born of Hale County pioneers and graduated from Plainview High School in 1927. She attended Southern Methodist University and Texas Tech University. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she was choir director and church organist. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star where she was Past Matron, Avihk Temple No. 70 Daughters of the Nile, American Guild of Organists, a local art guild and Hale County Historical Society. She married Otis Mason Sr., in 1928. He preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include a son, Otis Mason Jr., of Paradise; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Anna Belle Lewis CHILDRESS - Anna Belle Lewis, 89, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery with Tom Lewis and the Rev. Alan Egerton officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Lewis was born in De Queen, Ark. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher, in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, June Cast of Childress; a stepson, Tom Lewis of Wellington; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. Juan Delgado FLOYDADA - Juan Delgado, 85, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Rick Vasquez, deacon, officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Delgado was born in Martindale where he attended school. He moved to Floydada in 1948. He was a farmer and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He married Catalina Quiroz in 1934 at San Marcos. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jesus Delgado, in 1944, and Antonio Delgado, in 1967. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Juan Delgado Jr., of Crosell, Mich., Mata Delgado of Floydada, Juan Delgado III of Lubbock and Francisco Delgado of Plainview; five daughters, Nieves Hernandez, Manuela Mendoza, Benita Martinez, Lupita Mendoza and Bonnie Flores, all of Floydada; two sisters, Maria Murillo of Lubbock and Porfiria Duran of Floydada; 35 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Bill Estes WELLINGTON - Bill Estes, 52, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in South Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Martin officiating. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Estes was born in McAllen. He attended school and was a longtime resident of Wellington. He was employed as an auto mechanic and was formerly a farmer. He married Louise Glover in 1962 at Quail. Survivors include his wife; a son, William Estes of Wellington; a half-brother, Eddie Joe Estes of Borger; a half-sister, Kathy Himbree of McLean; an adopted brother, Richard Prescott of Cedar Park; his stepmother, Carolyn Estes of Pampa; and a grandson. Verona Keller Walker Cole CANADIAN - Verona Keller Walker Cole, 93, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church in Canadian with the Rev. Gary Jahnel, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie, and the Rev. Bob Meller, pastor of Gem Baptist Church of Gem community, officiating. Burial will be in Eller Flat/Prairie Dell Cemetery, Gem community, Hemphill County, by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cole was born and raised in Durham, Okla., where she attended school. She attended nursing school at Oklahoma A&M. She assisted the teacher and prepared meals at the Blue Ridge School, a one-room school in the Gem community. Mrs. Cole was a Methodist and attended the Gem Community Church. She was a member of the Tri-C Home Demonstration Club in Hemphill County. With her first husband, she farmed in the Durham community. She moved to the Gem community with her second husband. She married Feo Doyle Walker in Cheyenne, Okla. He died in 1940. Her second marriage was in 1942 to Lloyd Cole, who died in 1992. Survivors include four children, Glen William Walker of Canadian, Zelda Mae Pendergrass of Amarillo, Ronald Wayne Cole of Dallas, and Joanne Easdon of Groveland, Ill.; three sisters, Winnie Estes of Canadian, Ruby Montgomery of Colusa, Calif., and Jean Baker of Beaver, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren. Eugene "Gene" Stock, 67, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. Stock was born in Toronto, Kan., and graduated from Texhoma High School in Texhoma, Okla. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. In 1965, he moved to Canadian from Lamar, Colo. In 1970, Mr. Stock opened Gene's Auto Repair, which later became Canadian Tire Center. He retired in 1995. He coached Little League baseball and was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board, was in the Hustler Sunday School Class and cooked at Men's Breakfast. He married Judy Yarnold in 1962 at Canadian. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bradley Stock of Paris and Christopher Stock of Austin; a daughter, Trisha Butler of Austin; two brothers, Paul Stock of Cushing and Bill Stock of Birmingham, Ala.; and a sister, Dorothy Griffey of Carthage, Mo. The family requests memorials be to Hemphill County Hospice or the building fund of First United Methodist Church of Canadian. Frances Alberta Moynihan MIAMI - Frances Alberta Moynihan, 79, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in Pampa. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Miami with the Rev. Wes Wellborn, pastor, and the Rev. Dale Dunn, pastor of Lamont Street Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by StickleyHill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Moynihan was born in Garden City, Mo., where she graduated from high school. She lived in Casper, Wyo., where she was a housekeeper for Catholic sisters. In 1977, she moved to Miami from Casper. She was self-employed as a seamstress and did alterations for a dry cleaners. After moving to Miami, Mrs. Moynihan was the owner and operator of H&M Cafe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Miami and the TEL Sunday School Class. She married Henry William Moynihan who preceded her in death in 1968. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Huff of Miami; a son, Henry Moynihan of Miami; five grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Carl V. English PAMPA - Carl V. English, 87, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. English was born in Walnut Grove, Mo. In 1926 he moved from Owasso, Okla., to Pampa, where he graduated from high school in 1931. He attended college for two years in Stillwater, Okla. Mr. English was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Pampa in 1939. In 1971, he became postmaster. He retired in 1974 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Pampa Lions Club for 35 years, serving as secretary-treasurer for some 30 years. He was a Methodist. He married Doris Katharine Hays in 1937 at Santa Rosa, N.M. She died in 1981. Survivors include a son, John English of Amarillo; a daughter, Jowannah Ellis of Santa Fe, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Victor Basaldua Sr. TULIA - Victor Basaldua Sr., 52, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Church of the Holy Spirit by the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez, pastor. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Basaldua was born in Edinburg. In 1953 he moved to Tulia, where he attended school. For several years he worked for Cooper Electric as an apprentice electrician. He had been a licensed self-employed electrician since 1976. He was a past president of the Pan-American Golf Association in Plainview. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Sandoval of Booker and Judy Rodriguez of Tulia; a son, Victor Basaldua Jr. of Arlington; three sisters, Eva Flores and Marie Soto, both of Houston, and Elida Serna of Tulia; two brothers, Seferino Basaldua Jr. of Houston, George Basaldua of Nacona and Arturo Aguirre of Raymondville; and six grandchildren. Lloyd F. Luck CHILDRESS - Lloyd F. Luck, 78, of Brownwood and formerly of Childress, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. Hoyt Ellis of Hollis, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Dryden Cemetery at Hollis under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mr. Luck was born in Hollis. During World War II he had served in the South Pacific with the Navy Air Transport Division. A resident of the Lake Brownwood area for the last five years, he retired as fire chief of the Childress Fire Department, serving in that capacity for 13 of the 32 years he was employed there. Mr. Luck was a member of the Childress Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Childress Riders Club and served as a president of the Panhandle Firemen's Association. For 13 years he taught fire safety at Texas A&M University. He was a Red Cross volunteer for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Childress. He married Janice Wegner in 1981 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Dove of Albuquerque, N.M., Judy Palmer of Forney and Vickie Clark of Kaufman; two stepdaughters, Crystal Miller of Killeen and Julie Johnson of Leesville, La.; a sister, Pauline Tiner of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Donnie M. Deahl FRITCH - Donnie M. Deahl, 67, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger with D.C. Lindley of Fritch officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mrs. Deahl was born in West Virginia. She moved from Borger to Fritch in 1951. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist. She married Tom Deahl in 1951 at Tucumcari, N.M. He died in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Morrison of Fritch and Patsy Lamp of Verona, Mo.; a brother, Guy Osborne Jr. of Romulus, Mich.; two sisters, Lillie Mae Masters of Austin and Katie McQuary of Fritch; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will be at 123 Broadway in Fritch. Travis Chilton Harris MEMPHIS - Travis Chilton Harris, 84, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Posey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Harris was born in Tyler. He moved to Hall County with his family in 1915. He married Thola Catherine Henson in 1932. She died in 1974. Survivors include a son, Herman D. Harris of Clinton, Ark.; five daughters, Myrtle Helm of Memphis, Fern Swindell of Lewisville, Elizabeth Ivy of Liberty, Jimmie Howe of Lakeport, Calif., and Sue Baldwin of Seymour; a brother, Bo Harris of Van Horn; four sisters, Dorothy Brown and Johnnie Brooks of Dearing, Ga., Ruth Wintters of Tyler and Lola Mae Gerrald of Bella Vista, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Jimmie Eldon Nance CLARENDON - Jimmie Eldon Nance, 66, died Friday, July 31, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Martin Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. Mr. Nance was born in Lockney. He received a bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University and a master's degree from West Texas State University. He was an Army veteran. In 1982 he moved from Denton to Krum. For more than 30 years Mr. Nance was a teacher in the public schools, having taught at Krum, Muenster, Clarendon, Kress, Stamford and Floydada. He had been employed for the past 10 years at Emily Fowler Public Library. He was a member of Krum Baptist Church. He married Nelda Joy Tims in 1958 at Lockney. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karla Burrow of Midland and Kay Nance of Euless; a son, Kelly Nance of Euless; two sisters, Mayme Harp of Livermore, Calif., and Bobbie Nance of Aurora, Colo.; four brothers, Wiley Nance of San Angelo, Tom Nance and Joe Nance, both of Plainview, and Mike Nance of Midland; and three grandchildren.
