Mrs. Wood was born in Greenville. She had lived in Childress and Clovis, N.M., before moving to Amarillo in 1949. She married Paul V. "Tommy" Wood in 1938 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1959. She retired from Kirby Sales and Service after 30 years. She was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include two brothers, Pete Nisbett of Rogers, Ark., and Bob Nisbett of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews. Francies Ann Bostick Francies Ann Bostick, 60, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Dickerson, Baptist minister, officiating. Private committal services will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Bostick was born in Dallas and had lived in Amarillo for 59 years. She married T V. Bostick in 1954 at Clovis, N.M. She majored in art at West Texas State University and earned a bachelor of arts degree. She taught school for 21 years at San Jacinto Elementary and Wolflin Elementary. She was a member of the Amarillo Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association and National Education Association. Mrs. Bostick was a member of Temple Baptist Church and of the church's 50s department. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Curtis Van Bostick of Cedar City, Utah, and Kenneth Andrew Bostick of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathy Lee Ann Bostick of Lubbock; and five grandchildren. Canyon Andrew Maurice Bunch Andrew Maurice "Smokey" Bunch, 79, of Canyon, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in LaGrone Funeral Chapel at Roswell, N.M. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, and LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Mr. Bunch was born in Walters, Okla., and lived in Roswell for many years before moving to Canyon two years ago. He had served as a fire chief at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell and also had been a deputy sheriff and brand inspector for Chaves County, N.M. He was a past president of the Chaves County Sheriff's Posse and Pecos Valley Horsemen. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Marine Corps in Okinawa from 1944 until 1945. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War post in Roswell. Mr. Bunch married Dortha Gleghorn in 1946 at Artesia, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Britten of Canyon and Kay Hauer of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. New Mexico Quentin Ham CLOVIS, N.M. - Quentin "Buster" Ham, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Ham was born in Farwell, Texas. He graduated from Farwell High School. He married Priscilla Vandiver in 1956 at Fort Sumner. He was a self-employed housing contractor. Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig Ham of Clovis; five sisters, Ruby Meeks and Leona Ham, both of Farwell, Barbara Watford of Clovis, Sybil Alexander of Midland, Texas, and Shirley Sandvick of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Lawrence Ham of Roswell and Howard Ham of Calera, Okla.; and two grandsons. Elsewhere Edwin Lee Berry SEAGRAVES - Edwin Lee "Ed" Berry, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Brownfield. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Christ with Homer Jones, retired minister from Wellman, officiating. Burial will be in the Seagraves Cemetery by Head Family Funeral Home. Mr. Berry was born in Rule and moved to Seagraves in 1921. He was a lifelong Texan and a retired farmer and paint contractor. He married Dollie Mae King in 1932 at Lovington, N.M. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edwin Dwane Berry of Maitland, Fla., and Otis Don Berry of Amarillo; two sisters, Marie Crabtree of Andrews and Dorothy Olinger of Alamogordo, N.M.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Area Verla Shields Muse HEREFORD - Verla Shields Muse, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Mrs. Muse was born in Tupelo, Miss. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Norris Shields, in 1967, and Milton Muse in 1987; by a son, Cecil Morrison; and by a daughter, Gloria Comeau. Survivors include a son, Travis Shields of Hereford; and two stepdaughters, Rose Letion of Friona and Joe Bob Johnson of Friona. Leonard Forsythe of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Colins was born in Pampa and later moved to Borger, where she lived 58 years. She was a Baptist and had served as senior vice president of the Lady's Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include her husband, Orville Collins; her mother, Grace Ivey of Borger; two sons, Bobby Joe Lee Jr. and Charles Edward Lee, both of Borger; two sisters, Mary Ward and Cynthia LaGrone, both of Borger; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Bill Cantwell DALHART - Bill Cantwell, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Mr. Cantwell was born in Shawnee, Okla. He married Doris Johnson in 1936 at Holdenville, Okla. She died in 1986. He was a retired locomotive engineer and a Mason. He attended First Baptist Church. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Jack Johnson of Dalhart; a niece, Wanda May Kwarta of Chesterfield, Va.; and a nephew, Gene Cantrell of Dakota City, Neb. Ed Sherley DUMAS - Ed Sherley, 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bible Baptist Church with Jerry Clark, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery at Amarillo. Arrangement are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Sherley was born in Lakeview and had lived in Dumas since 1967. He was a World War II veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He married Norma Fagan in 1970 at Dumas. He retired from Plains Creamery as a milk distributor after 27 years. He owned and operated the 7 to 11 Convenience Store in Dumas from 1972 to 1979, and also owned and operated Ed's Bait and Grocery from 1979 until his retirement in 1995. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Judy Lee Fodor and Donna Edd Loukas, both of Amarillo, and Vickie Lynn Elliott and Denise Norma, both of Dumas; two sons, Allen Fagan of Irving and Darryl Fagan of Springfield, Ill.; his mother, Gladys Sherley of Littlefield; a brother, Jack Sherley of Littlefield; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Eugene Arthur Gordon MEMPHIS - Eugene Arthur Gordon, 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with Tom Anderson officiating. Arrangements are by Spicer Funeral Home. Mr. Gordon was born in Indian Territory. He married Mary Lowe in 1937 at Hayes, Kan. They owned and operated Gordon Auto Parts in Paducah for many years. Mrs. Gordon died on June 16. He was a hunter and a member of the Church of Christ in Paducah. Survivors include a brother-in-law, Jiggs Lowe of Memphis; and eight nieces and nephews, Sereta Sharp, Brenda Hughs, Sue Ryder, Cindy Phillips, Larry Robertson, Jimmy Lowe, Rodney Bounds and Cloyd Grant. Wynona Johnson TURKEY - Wynona Johnson, 69, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Christ with Delos Johnson and Earl McDonough officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by MyersLong Funeral Directors. Mrs. Johnson was born in Lockney. She attended Lone Star and Lockney schools. She married Eiland Johnson in 1945 at Lubbock. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the farm work. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on Aug. 22. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Hill of Silverton and Shirley Johnson of Turkey; a brother, Delton Jack of Lockney; two sisters, Nadine Bickley of Amarillo and Wanda House of Tulia; and a grandson. Kenneth E. Bryan HAPPY - Kenneth E. "Kenny" Bryan, 30, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Richard Bales and Darren Bryan officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors in Canyon. Mr. Bryan grew up in Happy. He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University. He married Ronay Payne in 1991 at Ceta Glen. He had managed Circle B Feed Yards from 1992 to 1996, and was a partner in the Bryan Brothers Cattle Co. He was a member of the Block and Bridle Club and Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kole of the home; his parents, Roy Bryan of Happy and Joy Moore of Canyon; two brothers, Todd Bryan and Dennis Bryan, both of Happy; a stepsister, Jonna Moore of Dalhart; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. David Tipton SILVERTON - David Tipton, 54, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Lubbock. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Tipton was born in Plainview. He married Reba Jo Maples in 1961 at Silverton. He was a retired bank officer and director. He had served on the Silverton City Council, on the Silverton Volunteer Fire Department and with the Silverton Volunteer Ambulance Service. He also had been on the board of the McKenzie Water Authority. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dwain Tipton of Lubbock; a daughter, Susie Younger of Abernathy; his mother, Annabelle Tipton of Silverton; a brother, Weldon Tipton of Colorado City; and three grandchildren.
