Burial will be in the city of Lubbock cemetery. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Vaughn was born in Memphis. He moved from Memphis to Lubbock in 1921. He was a salesman for Boyd Smith Auto Supply, Ferguson Auto Supply and Lubbock Auto Glass. He was a parking attendant in downtown Lubbock. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Vaughn married Edith Gann in 1935 at Lubbock. She died in 1989. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Vaughn of Lubbock; a daughter, Joyce Ann Allen of Amarillo; three brothers, A.L. Vaughn and Ernest Vaughn, both of Lubbock, and Floyd Vaughn of Portales, N.M.; and three grandchildren. New Mexico Steven Lee Bloss CLOVIS, N.M. - Steven Lee Bloss, 41, died Thursday, April 2, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Levi Louderback officiating. Mr. Bloss was born in Denison, Texas. He moved to Clovis in 1997 from Newport News, Va. While in Newport News, he worked for a cab company and was a cook at Red Lobster. Survivors include his mother, Delores Davis of the home; a sister, Pam Hoffman of Clovis; two brothers, Erwin Bloss Jr. and Richard Bloss, both of Odessa, Texas; and his fiancee, Susan Allums of Odessa. Joseph Alec Thomas CLOVIS, N.M. - Joseph Alec Thomas, 76, died Thursday, April 2, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. He was a master technician and service manager for Bender Honda Nissan. He also had worked for the city of Clovis and A to Z Tire in Clovis and Amarillo. Amarillo Elizabeth Korn Walvoord Elizabeth Korn Walvoord, 95, a former longtime Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, in Hereford. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor, and the Rev. J. Jeremy Grant, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hereford, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Walvoord was born in Abilene, Kan. In 1907, she moved with her family to Waukesha, Wis. She earned a bachelor of art degree in history at Carroll College at Waukesha, where she was a member of Theta Pi Delta sorority. She married Randall Henry Walvoord in 1927 at Waukesha. They lived in Racine, Wis., until moving to Amarillo after World War II. They were honored as Amarillo's Family of the Year in 1958, which was sponsored by the Amarillo GlobeNews. Mrs. Walvoord was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; and by a daughter, Joann, in 1958. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Dziuk of Hereford and Betty Jo Dillon of Marshall; four sons, David Walvoord of Amarillo, John Walvoord of Carrollton, Randy Walvoord of Coral Springs, Fla., and Gary Walvoord of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. She was a former resident of Cactus. She retired from Phillips Petroleum Co., where she did janitorial work. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Balfour, 81, of Amarillo, a former longtime Channing resident, died Thursday, April 2, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Channing Cemetery at Channing with the Rev. Bob Schroeder of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Balfour was born in Dalhart. He attended public school at old Tascosa, Channing and Vega. He was a heavy equipment operator before serving in World War II. He served with the Navy in Hawaii. After the war, he worked for the Greyhound Bus Co. He retired from Greyhound in 1955. He then took over the farming operation in Channing and farmed and ranched there until retiring. Mr. Balfour attended First Baptist Church of Channing. He was a director of the REA in Dalhart for more than 22 years. He married Mary Hughes in 1937 at Colorado. She died in 1993. He also was preceded in death by a son, Jim Balfour, in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Glenn of Amarillo; a half brother, Leonard Pardue of Wilsonville, Ore.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He had been involved in Big Brothers and was a Kiwanis sponsor of the AHS Key Club. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Amarillo South and served on the board of Camp Alphie. Mr. Austin was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He married Jamie Pittman in 1987. He was employed with the Air Force as a personnel technician before retiring. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475 and Order of the Eastern Star Amarillo Chapter No. 787. He was a member and past Master of Tascosa Masonic Lodge No. 1375. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. Morton, of Amarillo, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, on her 90th birthday. She married Elmo Morton in 1926 at Strong City, Okla. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Williams, in 1958. She was a nurse's aide at Coronado Hospital and a waitress at the Black Gold Restaurant, Dyer's Bar-B-Que and Sonic Drive-in. She also managed the Brown Street Kerr-McGee station. Mrs. Walker was Baptist. She married Joe Walker in 1992 at Greenridge, Mo. She graduated from West Texas State College in 1936. She taught school for 41 years in the Elkins community, the Valley View community and the Tulia schools. She married Carl W. Rose in 1927 at Hillsboro. He died in 1960. Mrs. Rose moved to California in 1988. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Juanelva Rose of Tai Chung, Taiwan, and LaVelda Clock of Lompoc, Calif.; two sisters, Jimmie Frank Waller of Hillsboro and Lunar V. In 1977, he built Westridge Manor, which he owned and operated. Mr. Turner was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Eula M. Jarrell CHILDRESS - Eula M. Jarrell, 96, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998. Mrs. Jarrell was born in Royce City. She graduated from Childress High School and attended West Texas College, graduating in 1956. She was a supervisor at the Childress Air Force Base, and she taught school at High Point and Community Center. She retired from the Texas State Department of Welfare in 1966. Mrs. Jarrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was the Relief Society president and a teacher for an adult Sunday school class. She also was active in the Childress County Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Cope; her second husband, Hardy C. Jarrell; and a son, James Cope. Survivors include three daughters, Edwina Henderson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Evelyn Speed and Joan Wyatt, both of Childress; three stepdaughters, Kathy Lofstrom of Beaverton, Ore., Helen Ray of Shreveport, La., and Lonnie Ward of St. George, Utah; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren. Burial will be in Muleshoe Cemetery. Mr. Price was born in Roswell, N.M. He married Gladys Head in 1939 at Roswell. He was a farmer in Roswell. He also delivered milk for Clardys Milk Co. for 30 years. Mr. Price married Glenda Frazier in 1980 at Perryton. He moved from Roswell to Muleshoe in 1984. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Price of Grangerville, Idaho, and Kenneth Price of Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Barbara Jean Moore of Roswell and Carol Darlene Hill of Las Vegas; three sisters, Ester Mae Jasper of McLean, June Bolin of Roswell and Grace Jasper of Ontario, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Florence Willis DALHART - Florence Willis, 100, died Thursday, April 2, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Peery, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Willis was born near Vernon. In 1898, they homesteaded to Indian Territory, to what is now the Sayre, Okla., area. She moved to Sayre in 1908 and attended school there. She graduated from Sayre High School in 1915 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1927. She married Asa Willis in 1933 at Erick, Okla. They moved to Texline in 1942 and developed land for irrigation. Mr. Willis died in 1971. Mrs. Willis was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, the Gleemer Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women's, the McDowell Music Club and the Altrusa Club. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Angel and Othella Sherrill, both of Dalhart. He then attended the University of Texas. He lived in the Houston area most of his life before moving to Childress in 1997. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a waiter. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Becky Sims of Childress, and Alfred Lee Waddill, James Rayford "Chubby" Waddill and Boyce Waddill, all of Memphis.
