Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery at Floydada by MyersLong Funeral Directors of Silverton. Mr. McClure was a farmer and had owned and operated Pioneers Steak House in Plainview for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Earnestene in 1937. She died in 1953. He married Opal Brannon Hill in 1970 in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Fay Paschal of Plainview; two sons, Garland McClure of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Carroll McClure of Huntsville, Ala.; two stepsons, Walter Hill of Silverton and Freddy Hill of Canyon; a brother, Weaver McClure of Kress; two sisters, Vera Crain of Childress and Connie Lee Tomme of Birmingham, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hospice Hands in Lockney. Cindy Stuart PAMPA - Cindy Stuart, 30, of El Reno, Okla., died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Stuart was born in Memphis, Tenn. She was a 1986 graduate of Pampa High School and a 1990 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in computer information systems. Since 1993, she was a graphic designer for The Michael Group in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Stuart moved to Oklahoma City in 1990 and to El Reno a year ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Robert Stuart in 1990 at Pampa. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Alexis Stuart of the home; her parents, Tom and Neoma Turner of Pampa; her grandparents, Ray and Jackie Collins of Dumas; and a brother, Art Turner of Pampa. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born in Paris and had lived in Paducah for the past 44 years. He was a farm laborer. Nelda Fay Crutchfield Smith STINNETT - Nelda Fay Crutchfield Smith, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist church in Stinnett with the Rev. Billy Holland, pastor of First Christian Church of Stinnett, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Stinnett by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Smith was a native of Borger and a lifetime resident of Stinnett. She was a secretary and member of First Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Troy Smith of Stinnett and Dale Smith of Maui, Hawaii; a daughter, Chante' Sims of Stinnett; a brother, Roy Crutchfield of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Blanche Tolbert Osborne MIAMI - Blanche Tolbert Osborne, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church of Miami with George Lundberg, minister of Church of Christ of Miami, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Osborne was born in Miami, and married Lowell "Scoops" Osborne in 1938 at Pampa. From 1938 until 1953, they farmed and ranched in Roberts and Gray Counties then moved to South Dakota. With her husband, Mrs. Osborne continued to farm and ranch until returning to Miami in 1975. She was on the board of directors of the Roberts County Museum and attended the First Christian Church of Miami. Her husband died in 1989. Survivors include three brothers, Bill Tolbert and Jimmy Tolbert, both of Miami, and George Tolbert of Hamilton; and three sisters, Ina Seuhs of Miami, Lola Simpson of Tyler and Mary Wold of Arlington, Wash. The family suggests memorials be to the Roberts County Museum of First Christian Church of Miami. Clyde Newton Soapes Sr. GRUVER - Clyde Newton Soapes Sr., 84, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gruver Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Gumfory officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Inc., Spearman. Mr. Soapes was born in Elbert and lived in Gruver for 48 years. He was a carpenter and member of First Christian Church. He married Ina Hulcy in 1933 at Olney. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Norman Soapes, and a daughter, Debra Lynn Soapes. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jessie Soapes of Mountain Home, Ark.; two daughters, Alice Peddy of Gruver and Brenda Crowley of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; more than 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church of Gruver. Dorothy Stansell LOCKNEY - Dorothy Stansell, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Lockney with the Rev. Harold Abernathy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney. Mrs. Stansell was born in Monument, N.M., where she graduated from high school. She attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock and moved to Lockney from Floydada in 1956. Mrs. Stansell was Justice of the Peace for Floyd County Precincts No. 2 and No. 3. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Justice of the Peace Association and former member of the Lockney Business and Professional Women's Organization. She married John Harold "Pat" Stansell in 1943 at St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her husband in September and by a daughter, Patricia Sue Rigby, in 1991. Survivors include three sons, Jon Steve Stansell and William Scott Stansell, both of Shallowater, and Craig Tim Stansell of Lubbock; a sister, Gwynell Fleming of Snyder; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Bertha Lea Faulkner Bertha Lea Faulkner, 92, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Faulkner was born in Mounds, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1907. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1923 with the first class to graduate from the then-new high school building on Polk Street. She had been an office manager of Pinkney Packing Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1953. Mrs. Faulkner began volunteer work with the Amarillo Council of Garden Clubs Inc. in 1966. She also served as a member of the executive board and was a director for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She married Harry M. Faulkner in 1942. He died in 1996. Survivors include two nieces, Marian Clark of Tulsa and Rue Nelle McCullah of Tacoma, Wash.; two nephews, David Steele of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jim Lea of Riesel. Virginia Hemphill Virginia Hemphill, 85, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Restland Memorial Park at Dallas with Dr. David Zacarias officiating. Arrangements are by Restland Funeral Home of Dallas. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hemphill was a member and an elder of Northpark Presbyterian Church before moving to Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew James Hemphill. Survivors include her children, David Hemphill of Amarillo, Ann Roehrig of Fort Collins, Colo., and Andy Hemphill of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Mildred Lacy and Connie May, both of Dallas and Gerry Brinkerhoff of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Northpark Presbyterian Church or Amarillo Community Center. Charles Ward Charles "Gene" Ward, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage with the Rev. Windell Taylor, chaplain of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Cremation will follow services. Mr. Ward was born in Ogallala, Neb., and moved to Amarillo two years ago from Leavenworth, Kan. He served in the Army 20 years and was in the Vietnam War, retiring in 1976 as a sergeant. He made Native American jewelry and was a Methodist. He married Marilyn Northcott in 1996 at Leavenworth. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cassie Ward of Leavenworth, Terry LaManna of Alameda, Calif., and Jeanette Aguero of Amarillo; a son, Elliott Ward of Leavenworth; a sister, Glenda Patrick of Lamar, Colo.; a brother, Larry Ford of La Habra, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. New Mexico Joe Montoya TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Joe Montoya, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Montoya was born in Mosquero and moved to Tucumcari in 1948 from Mosquero. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. For many years, he worked with the ICX Freight Co. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2528. Survivors include his wife, Helen E.; a son, Joe Montoya of Denver; two daughters, Brenda Montoya of Denver and Lisa Barreras of Tucumcari; three sisters, Emily Montoya and Sheila Dominguez, both of Tucumcari, and Mary Garcia of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until Mass time. Olan Brown CLOVIS, N.M. - Olan Brown, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ed Abla officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born in Snyder, Texas. He retired from a career in pest control. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and Clovis Senior Citizens. There are no known survivors. Elsewhere J.W. Poole DENVER - J.W. "Jimmie" Poole, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998. Services were Tuesday at Chapel Hills Funeral Chapel at Littleton with Dr. Andy Hicks of Dumas, Texas, officiating. Eulogies were spoken by Dr. Hicks and Captain George Hollmann. Burial was in Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Poole was born in Avery, Okla., and raised in Haskell, Okla. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. in Okmulgee, Okla., from 1936 until joining the Army in 1942. Mr. Poole served in the Service Company of the 358th Regiment of the 90th Infantry Division. He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and participated in five major battles including the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from the military, he continued working for Phillips at Okmulgee and transferred to Cactus, Texas, in 1949. While at Cactus, Mr. Poole helped build First Baptist Church of Etter, Texas, where he also was a member. He moved to Dumas in 1965 and retired as plant safety supervisor from Phillips in 1978 after 42 years. He was a member and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Dumas. He moved to Denver in 1997. He married Marguerite Susan Justice in 1942 in Abilene, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda Hollmann of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Susan Sutton of Lubbock, Texas; a sister, Muriel Pack of Haskell, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Lindsey N. Beck ANTHONY, Kan. - Lindsey N. Beck, 14, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Christian Church in Anthony with John Schnelle, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery by Elliott Mortuary of Anthony. Miss Beck was born in Amarillo and lived in Mansfield, Texas, before moving to Anthony. She was a ninth-grade student at Chaparral High School where she was a member of Chaparral Key Club. She attended the Anthony Christian Church Youth Group. Survivors include her parents, Ronald Beck of Burleson, Texas, and Lydia Beck of Anthony; and a brother, Chris Beck of Anthony. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today.
