Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Gumfory officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Inc., Spearman. Mr. Soapes was born in Elbert and lived in Gruver for 48 years. He was a carpenter and a member of First Christian Church. He married Ina Hulcy in 1933 at Olney. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Norman Soapes, and a daughter, Debra Lynn Soapes. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jessie Soapes of Mountain Home, Ark.; two daughters, Alice Peddy of Gruver and Brenda Crowley of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; more than 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church of Gruver. Royal L. Scott PAMPA - Royal L. Scott, 87, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Wheeler. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Scott was born in Chelsea, Okla. He graduated from Chelsea High School and attended Oklahoma State University. He worked for Wiser Oil Co. for 26 years before retiring. He was a member of the Barbershoppers Quartet and was a longtime assistant Boy Scout master. He was a Methodist and a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Gladys Marie Moore in 1940 at Clinton, Okla. She died in 1993. Survivors include three nephews, Walter E. Moore and Leslie Moore, both of Miami, and Billy Frank Blake of Shamrock. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Carmen Cofer Johnson PERRYTON - Carmen Cofer Johnson, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Latham officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mrs. Johnson was born in Ochiltree and had lived in the area all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Steve Johnson of Branson, Colo.; a sister, Doris Kennedy of Franklin; a brother, C.A. "Tex" Cofer of Greensboro; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Ophelia Ellen Hughes QUANAH - Ophelia Ellen Hughes, 85, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Fort Worth. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with J.D. Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park. Mrs. Hughes was born in Tishomingo, Okla., and moved to Quanah at age 9. In 1974, she retired after 23 years with Quanah Independent School District. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She married Walter Hughes in 1938 at Quanah. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and by a son, James Owen Hughes, in 1961. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Rumbo of Arlington and Mary Ellen Oman of Mineral Wells; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will be available for visitation from 6 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. They suggest memorials be to Universal Hospice and Health Services of Fort Worth. Harry Dolney BORGER - Harry "Jack" Dolney, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. No services are planned at this time. Cremation and arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Dolney was born in Aitkin, Minn., and had been a Borger resident since 1947. He was a retired mechanic for DACO and was a Lutheran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He married Charlsie Probert in 1963 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Dorothy McPherson of St. Cloud, Minn.; five nephews; and a niece. Ella Mae Hodge BORGER - Ella Mae "Jackie" Hodge, 69, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. James Berry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Hodge was born in Hall County and had been a resident of the area since 1946 when she moved here from Crowell. She was a homemaker and member of Southside Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for many years. She married Cecil Hodge in 1944 at Altus, Okla. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Cecil Kerry Hodge and Thomas Robert Hodge, both of Borger, and Lanise Dale Hodge of Gruver; three daughters, Peggy Jean White of Fritch and Pamela White and Kathleen Berry, both of Borger; a brother, Arthur Jones of Canadian; a sister, Myrtle Gray of Tulia; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1605 Takewell in Borger. Jewell LaNelle Donnell PAMPA - Jewell LaNelle Donnell, 77, of Brownsville, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Donnell was born in Wichita Falls. A former longtime Pampa resident, she lived in Brownsville for the past 23 years. She was a homemaker and member of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville. She married W.T. "Buck" Donnell in 1961 at Pampa. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Coenetta Kay Mecher. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim McDaniel of Lincolnton, N.C., and DeWayne Mecher of Tulsa; a brother, Don Emmons of Pampa; two sisters, Billie Harvey of Pampa and Edna Parks of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A former bus driver, she was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married James H. "Red" Renfro in 1937. He died in 1976. Survivors include two sons, Charlie and James C. Clifton of El Paso and Pete Clifton of Plainview; two sisters, Florence Rainbolt of Nocona and Dean Bartley of Tahoka; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. For 25 years, she was employed as a sales clerk at Levines. She was a member of the West Amarillo Church of Christ. She married Hugh Day Roberson in 1924 at Lockney. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1952 and by a daughter, Joyce Sanders, in 1996. Survivors include two granddaughters, Cindy Johnson and Suzie Giles, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Paul Hays of Kress, Harvey Hays of Plainview and Elmer "Jiggs" Hays of Canyon; four sisters, Jewel Wakefield of Amarillo, Ada Richardson of Dalhart, Rae Ragle of Plainview and Pauline Barrett of Kress; three great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mr. Bradfield was born in Shidler, Okla. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Twenty years ago, he moved to Amarillo from Roswell, N.M. He married Janey Raymer in 1968 at Roswell. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Timothy Bradfield of Midway; a daughter, Terry Lynn Ortega of Amarillo; and a sister, Ruth Bradfield of Canyon. Rozell R. Jennings Rozell R. Jennings, 89, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth, with Glen Walton officiating. Mrs. Jennings was born in Granite, Okla. She was a Baptist. She married M.D. Jennings in 1964 at Vega. He died in 1980. Survivors include two brothers, Jim Randell of Anaheim, Calif., and Donald R. Randall of Santa Anna, Calif.; and two sisters, Freeda Tolliver of Hedley and Sue Neel of Oklahoma City. Lenna E. Vickers Lenna E. Vickers, 81, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998. For many years, she was employed by Blackburn Clothing Stores. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Vickers, in 1953. Survivors include two nieces, Senora Fansler of Amarillo and Sharon Kenen of Wrightstown, N.J.; five great-nieces; two great-nephews; three great-great-nephews; and a great-great-niece. The body will not be available for viewing. Canyon Dr. Wendell Cain Dr. Wendell Cain, 83, of Canyon, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Don McDonald, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Dr. Cain was born in Quanah and was a Marine veteran of World War II. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State University. He received his doctorate from the University of Denver. Dr. Cain retired as a professor in the speech department from West Texas State University. For many years, he bred, trained and showed his Schipperkes to championships. He also conducted training classes. Dr. Cain was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, West Texas ExTeachers Association and was a lifetime member of the Panhandle Kennel Club. He married Scotty Scott in 1964 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Claborn of Naperville, Ill.; two sisters, Wanda Faville of Clovis and Linnette McElroy of Vallejo, Calif.; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ed Abla officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Cannon Air Force Base will do a ceremonial flight. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Rucker was born in Anton, Texas. He worked in education from 1959 until retiring in 1988. He was a principal at Yucca Junior High School from 1970 to 1988. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He married Joyce Lake in 1979 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a son, James Ronald Rucker of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Jona D'Ann Hathorn of Grants; a son, the Rev. Brian Deryl Smith of Hutchinson, Kan.; a daughter, Becky Denise Worrell of Lakenheath AFB, England; a sister, Yvonne Crump of Lubbock; a brother, Cecil Rucker of Lubbock; and six grandchildren. Mr. Perez was born in Hereford, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1972. For the past 15 years, he was employed by Sandhill Potato Co. He was Catholic. Survivors include two sons, Sammy Perez Jr., and Frankie Perez, both of Clovis; his mother, Vivian Perez of Clovis; two brothers, Ernesto Perez of Dalhart and David Perez Jr., of Clovis; six sisters, Yolanda Lopez of Foley, Ala., Emma Garza, Irma Garcia and Margie Garcia, all of Clovis, Esmeralda Baltazar of Fort Sumner and Marlcela Lopez of Goodland, Texas; and his fiancee, Guadalupe Venegas of Muleshoe, Texas. Oklahoma Nona Marie Hass TEXOMA, Okla. - Nona Marie Hass, 84, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Stratford, Texas. Mrs. Hass was born in Bethesda, Ark. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She married Hugh Manuel Hass in 1939 at Hooker. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967 and by a son, Bill, in 1980. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Harland of Texhoma; a stepson, Hugh Hass Jr., of Tulsa; two sisters, Emma Loid Clancy of Liberal, Kan., and Verna Eale of Garland, Texas; a brother, Robert McSpadden of Sayreville, N.J.; and nine grandchildren. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery by BellCypert-Seale Funeral Home. Mr. Landrum was a lifetime resident of Fluvanna. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and real estate broker. He was a member of the Fluvanna Methodist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Scottish Rite Consistory. He married Ella Pauline Jobe in 1954 at Lovington, N.M. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Mike Landrum of Round Rock and the Rev. Neely Landrum of Memphis, Texas; a sister, Geraldine Pudlo of Midland; and four grandchildren.
