He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Bon Homme Richard as a gunner's mate first class. He moved to the Dalhart area in 1958 and farmed until 1993. Mr. Herring married Nelda Poe in 1947 at San Angelo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Becky Parker of Dalhart; four sisters, Mrs. Francis Allison of Dalhart, Mrs. Elza Blue of Stephenville, Mrs. Earl Smith of Denton and Mrs. Warren Sallee of Austin; and three granddaughters. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School class. She married Weldon Lane in 1933 at Memphis. He died in 1984. She also was preceded in death by a son, Claude Lane, in 1996. Survivors include five sons, Daniel Lane and Jerry Lane, both of Cedar Hill, David Lane of Claude, Joe Lane of Lakewood, Colo., and Ted Lane of Irving; a sister, Esther Watts of Wellington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Jewel Naugle STRATFORD - Jewel Naugle, 86, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor, officiating. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hub Crawford, in 1962. They worked on the Wagoner Ranch in Vernon for more than 20 years. They also were associated with the J.A. Ranch. She married Basil Naugle in 1964 at Stratford. He was a farmer for 46 years. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He married Annie Marie Campbell in 1941 at Waco. Mr. Calvert was a member of 4th and Bedford Street Church of Dimmitt. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stanton Calvert of Austin, Michael Calvert of Houston and Gregory Calvert of Dallas; a daughter, Carlanne Calvert Flynt of Amarillo; two brothers, Milus Calvert and Royce Calvert, both of Waco; three sisters, Myrtle Calvert Dodd of Waco, Lillian Calvert Spinks of Houston and Nadine Calvert Ward of San Diego; and 11 grandchildren. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Abbott was born and raised in Anson, Jones County. She moved to Rule after marrying Jordan Henry Abbott in 1927. They moved to Anson in 1941, to Floydada in 1948, to Hale County in September 1948 and to Plainview in 1954. She worked for Home Beautiful from 1949 to 1954. She owned and operated Abbott's Decorator, where she made draperies from 1954 until closing the business in 1990. She was a charter member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Mr. Abbott died in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Abbott Davis of Plainview; a son, Charles M. Abbott of Plainview; three brothers, Austin Barrett of Kress, E.M. Barrett of Dallas and Bill Barrett of Plainview; seven grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Janie Ethel Warren FLOYDADA - Janie Ethel Warren, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelly Warren, grandson of the deceased and pastor of First Baptist Church in Claytonville, and the Rev. Mike Garman, pastor of Pullman Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Warren was born in Collin County. She attended school in Mayshaw and Ramsey. She moved to Floyd County in 1910 from Oklahoma. She retired from the Floydada Independent School District cafeterias after many years of service. She married Elmer Warren in 1923 at Floyd County. Survivors include three sons, Elvis Warren of Floydada, Billy Warren of Amarillo and John Warren of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was a current member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Mobeetie. He married Ina Mae Vise in 1928 at Anson. They moved to Hemphill County and then to Wheeler County in 1961. Survivors include his wife; a son, C.B. Brotherton of Wheeler; two daughters, Dorothy Honath of Amarillo and Doris Finsterwald of Mobeetie; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. de Regules was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He had been a Dumas resident for 18 months. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Maria de Jesus Marquez; a daughter, Denia Deyanira de Regules of the home; and two sons, Marco Tulio de Regules and Hiram de Regules, both of the home. The family will be at 504 2nd Place. Pauline Evelyn Haydon PLAINVIEW - Pauline Evelyn "Polly" Haydon, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Max Browning, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Haydon was born in Hammond, Okla., and moved to the Plainview area when she was a child. She operated Haydon Shoes in downtown Plainview for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Lavelle Haydon in 1941 at Plainview. He died in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a son, Larry E. Haydon; and by a daughter, Gayle Ann Haydon. She moved to Clovis, N.M., in 1981. She worked as a foster parent in the Grandparent and Handicapped Children program with the Clovis public schools. She returned to Plainview in 1991. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Hair of Olton; and a granddaughter. Ephriam Ernest Sisemore SHAMROCK - Ephriam Ernest Sisemore, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Sisemore was born in Dutton, Ark. He had lived most of his life in Shamrock. He worked as a grocer in Shamrock for many years. He served with the Army at Normandy during World War II. He received the Victory Ribbon and the American Theater Campaign Medal as well as the EAME Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and a bronze arrowhead. He also received the Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. His wife, Coral Clynch Sisemore, died in 1996. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1986 and attended Amarillo College. She worked as an accounting clerk for Sam's Wholesale Warehouse for 13 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Breseia College in Frankfort, Ky., and her master's degree from New York University in Albany, N.Y. She was a teacher of the Catholic religion and taught at Our Lady of Guadalupe School. She previously taught in Kansas, Alaska, Oklahoma, Washington, Wisconsin, New York and Quebec, Canada. Miss Borowski was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include friends, Sister Barbara Kulas, Lea Reynolds, Leslie Fowler and Mary Gibney, all of Amarillo. Edward Bellett Edward Bellett, 89, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church by Monsignor Francis A. Smyer of the church. He was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army from 1945 to 1949. He married Edith Zelley in 1942. She died in 1995. She was a member of Wildrose Lodge No. 312 for 60 years and the Order of the Eastern Star for 75 years. She also was a member of the Pioneer Sod House Organization in Kansas. She married Ray Walker in 1915 at Thomas County, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband and by a son, Raymond Walker. Survivors include a son, Lloyd J. Walker of Amarillo; a daughter, Neva Ward of Amarillo; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven greatgreat-grandchildren; and two great-greatgreat-grandchildren. New Mexico David Walker ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - David Walker, 13, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Hoffmantown Church with Rob Mahon, pastor, and the Rev. Ken Moore officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park by French Mortuary. David was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and a member of Hoffmantown Church. He loved hot-air ballooning. Pelton, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Chapel with Frank Poynor and Marlin Poynor officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mr. Pelton was born in Lamesa, Texas. When he was young, he moved with his family between Tatum and Roswell. In 1939, they moved to the Floyd area, where he graduated from high school in 1943. In 1945, he joined the Army and served in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he returned to Floyd and farmed there for a number of years. Since 1960, he had owned a farm on Air Base Road at the edge of Portales. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9515. Mr. Pelton married Margie Bulls in 1973. Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Jace Bulls of Portales, Shane Bulls of Lubbock, Texas, and Roc Bulls of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Melody Hodges of Portales and Harmony Hardin of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Clovis Tillman Balch CLOVIS, N.M. - Clovis Tillman "Cody" Balch, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Balch was born in Boyd, Texas. He worked at the Clovis Livestock Sales Barn and later for Clovis Municipal Schools. He served in the Army during World War II at Fort Sill, Okla. He married Rosie Isham in 1945. Survivors include his wife; a son, Leon Balch of Albuquerque; a brother, Joe Balch of Los Lunas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Maude H. Dyer LOGAN, N.M. - Maude H. Dyer, 98, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque with the Rev. John Mikow, minister of First Presbyterian Church of Tucumcari, officiating. Following the services, her remains will be placed in a crypt at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Dyer was born in Greenville, Texas. She moved to New Mexico in a covered wagon with her parents in 1907. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque before retiring to Logan in 1970. She married Clarence M. Dyer in 1916 at Albuquerque. They owned and operated a ranch in Santa Fe County. They also owned and operated cafes in Albuquerque. Mr. Dyer died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Jack Dyer of Logan; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Canyon Bill J. Jackson Bill J. Jackson, 74, of Canyon, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Jackson was born in Paris, Texas. He married Margaret Elizabeth Haynes in 1946 at Paris and moved to West Texas shortly afterward. He had been a resident of the Panhandle and Amarillo areas for 50 years. He retired from Southwestern Public Service Co. in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was involved in farming and ranching activities in the Randall County area before and after retiring. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife in 1997, and by a daughter, Linda Jackson Nolen. Survivors include a son, Joe R. Jackson of Alvin; a sister, Kathryn Dunmon of Powderly; two brothers, J. Travis Jackson of Mount Pleasant and Tom Jackson of Greenville; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O.
