Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church by the Rev. Hector Madrigal. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Jurado was born in Durango, Mexico. He moved to Plainview two years ago from Amarillo, where he lived for three years. He was a farmer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Plainview. He married Estela Manriquez April 25 in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ariana Jurado of the home; his parents, Pedro and Luz Maria Jurado of Durango; five sisters, Guadalupe Flores and Lucy Jurado, both of Seattle, Martina Olivas of Lovelock, Nev., and Lorena Luna and Ramona Jurado, both of Durango; and two brothers, Tobias Samuel Jurado of Durango and Rafael Jurado of Dumas. Charlene S. Epps Charlene S. Epps, 67, of Amarillo, died Thursday, April 30, 1998. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. James Mims of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Epps was born in Vernon. She was a presser at The Laundromat. She was Baptist. Survivors include several daughters and sons; a stepdaughter; and nine grandchildren. Gene Hornsby Gene Hornsby, 72, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Garrett officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hornsby was born in Goodlett and had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married H.R. Hornsby in 1947 at Amarillo. He died in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Randy Hornsby of Amarillo and Teddy Hornsby of Sterling, Va.; two daughters, Kathy Kennedy of Carrollton and Connie Schlegel of Burleson; four brothers, C.C. Mitchell of Amarillo, W.D. Mitchell of Wheeler, Jack Mitchell of Pampa and Joe Mitchell of White Deer; a sister, Barbara Meadows of Briscoe; and three grandchildren. George Kennith Tomlinson George Kennith Tomlinson, 74, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 4, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Dr. Dana Moore of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Mr. Tomlinson had been a lifetime resident of Amarillo. He served during World War II in the Philippines with the 11th Airborne Division. He was in Lone Star National Guard for 32 years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982. He was a past state president of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a past state president of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He married Mary Humphrey Garner in 1987 at Claude. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Tomlinson, in 1987. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Raymond Tomlinson of Las Vegas; a stepson, Kelly Garner of Amarillo; and a daughter, Lynne Tomlinson of Lubbock. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Eunice Catherine Dwight of Amarillo. New Mexico Steven Cruz PORTALES, N.M. - Steven Cruz, 74, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Helen Catholic Church by the Rev. Anthony Martinez. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mr. Cruz was born in Gainesville, Texas. He grew up in Texas and lived there until 1959, when he moved his family to Portales. He worked for several years on local farms until retiring. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martina, in 1994 and also by a daughter, Mary Cruz. Survivors include seven sons, Roy Cruz of Portales, Jesse Cruz of Haynes City, Fla., Steve Cruz Jr. of Manila, Ark., Johnny Cruz of Tyler, Texas, Ray Cruz of Van Nuys, Calif., Joe Carisales of Brownfield, Texas, and Angel Cruz of Amarillo; a daughter, Nancy Sanchez of Portales; a sister; 43 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Eula M. Ethridge CLOVIS, N.M. - Eula M. Ethridge, 94, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mission Garden of Memories with the Rev. Doug Brooks of Parkland Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Ethridge moved to Texico in 1908 from Amarillo. She married Albert E. Ethridge in 1922 and moved to Clovis. He died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Alta Lee Ethridge in 1934 and Margaret Irene Nesselrode in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Delva Rhodes of Clovis and Julia Burford of Forest Grove, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Lawrence was born in Matador and graduated from high school there. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired as a driver for Central Freight Lines and moved from Wichita Falls to Matador in 1988. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Baptist church. Mr. Lawrence married Elva Rhea Willis in 1938 at Paducah. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Lawrence, in 1996. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Jewell Lawrence of Roaring Springs; a sister, Lorene Lancaster of Matador; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Lavina Howton Gililland OXNARD, Calif. - Lavina Howton Gililland, 101, a former Hereford, Texas, resident, died Sunday, May 3, 1998. Memorial services will be at a later date. Mrs. Gililland was born in Wise County, Texas. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1915 from Bellevue, Texas. She married Pinkney Hart Gililland in 1920 at Hereford. He died in 1975. Mrs. Gililland moved to California in 1975. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She operated Gililland Dairy in Hereford until 1955 and the Texa Lou Motel in Amarillo from 1955 to 1975. Survivors include a son, Bob Gililland of Ventura; a grandchild; and two greatgrandchildren. Mary Lee Hurt GUTHRIE - Mary Lee Hurt, 58, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Guthrie Community Center with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in Guthrie Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mrs. Hurt was born in Anson. She was the King County treasurer and a member of the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, the King County Lions Club and the King County Extension Club. She also was involved with youth organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hurt, in 1993. Survivors include a son, Jay Hurt of Guthrie; a daughter, Jan Sicard of Manhattan, Kan.; a brother, Billy Creel of New York City; and two grandchildren. Area Richard Ray Outlaw QUANAH - Richard Ray Outlaw, 89, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. John Spangler, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Outlaw was born in Orange and had lived in Quanah for 47 years. He worked as a welder for many years before retiring in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 as a technician fourth grade in Company B, 26th Tank Battalion. He served in Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France, Central Europe and Ardennes. He was decorated with five Bronze Stars and the Bronze Arrowhead Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Iris Outlaw of Quanah. Roy Thomason WELLINGTON - Roy Thomason, 94, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Christ with Tom Anderson, minister of the Memphis Church of Christ, and Kevin Rhodes, minister, officiating. Burial will be in O.M. Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Thomason was born in Indian Territory. He moved to the Kelly community of Collingsworth County in the early 1920s and to Wellington in 1960. He was a farmer and rancher and he managed the Mill Iron Ranch for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Ava Jenkins in 1924 at Wellington. She died in 1983. He married Evelyn Tarver in 1986. She died in 1987. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Dean Thomason, and Melvin Curtis Thomason. Survivors include a son, Troy Gene Thomason of Wellington; a brother, D.C. Thomason of Wellington; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Lorene A. Kenner PAMPA - Lorene A. Kenner, 92, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Kenner was born in Sayre, Okla. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1929. She moved to Guymon in 1949 and returned to Pampa in 1982. She was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ. She married Hugh Lance Kenner in 1923 at Arapaho, Okla. He died in 1978. Survivors include four sons, Bill Kenner of Pampa, Lance Kenner of Houston, Jack Kenner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jimmy Kenner of Kenai, Alaska; a daughter, Tampa Dougless of Pampa; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Jerry Trammell of First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers was born in Lufkin and had been a Dumas resident since 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church. She married Jewell Huson Chambers in 1928 at Huntington. He died in 1984. Jesse Hodge, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Behrends was born and raised in Ludlow, Ill., and attended school there. She graduated from high school in Rantoul, Ill. She worked for Paxton Electronics in Paxton, Ill. She worked as a home health aide in Tulia and for 5-Minute Mart in Tulia. She was a location manager for Olan Mills Photography from 1991 to 1992. She and her brother helped start the hospice programs in Houston and Lake Charles, La., before moving to Tulia in 1983. She married Ronald Oscar Benson in 1955. He died in 1964. She married William Franklin Hensley Sr. in 1964. He died in 1984. She married Eddie Behrends in 1991 at Tulia. Survivors include her husband; children, Ronald "Tubby" Benson and Lori Tomblin, both of Tulia, Sissy Tomblin of Happy, Anna Wooden of Perry, Kan., Mary Love Smithee of Canadian, William Franklin "Bo" Hensley Jr. of Sunray and David Brannon of Palm City, Fla.; a sister, Francis Merritt of Pennfield, Ill.; a brother, Fred Walker of Ludlow; 24 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She married Truett Wiseman in 1938 at Abilene. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Shirin Finley of Hereford and Stella Jo Dudley of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, James Hinkle of Idalou; a sister, Josephine Robinson of Fallon, Nev.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
