Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church in Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. Mrs. McConnell was born in Clarendon and moved to Amarillo in 1951 from Perryton. She attended Clarendon College and the University of Texas and was a retired teacher. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. McConnell, in 1969. Survivors include six nieces and four nephews. Nellie E. Spiker Nellie E. Spiker, 88, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bowlin of Bushland Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Spiker was born in Libertyville, Iowa, and had lived in Amarillo since 1940. She was a retired seamstress for Troy Clothes Rental. She married Elmer Grant Spiker in 1929 in Williamson, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961 and a son, Billy Grant Spiker, in 1988. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Ray Spiker of Amarillo; a daughter, Pat Bishop of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Harold Wayne Greear Harold Wayne Greear, 49, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in Sanford. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Webb, associate pastor, and Joel Wolfson, friend, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery with military rites by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Greear was born in Livingston, Mont., and had lived in Amarillo most of his life. He was an Eagle Scout and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by Texaco for six years until the Amarillo plant closed. He then worked for Multiple Systems. In 1992, Mr. Greear opened Wayne's Welding and Repair. A member of the HOGs, he had ridden in several toy runs and was a Make A Wish volunteer. Survivors include his parents, George and Ursula Greear of Amarillo; a sister, Linda Miller of Amarillo; and a brother, Kenny Greear of Amarillo. The family will be at 4326 S. Polk. They suggest memorials be to the Make A Wish Foundation, 2324 Lakeview Dr., Amarillo, TX 79109. H.S. Buckley H.S. "Buck" Buckley, 88, of Amarillo and formerly of Borger, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with Dick Marcear, minister of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Buckley was a native of Doniphan, Mo., and was a Borger resident from 1938 until 1983 when he moved to Amarillo. He retired as owner of Buckley Shoe Store in Borger. He was former president of the Borger Chamber of Commerce, a former Borger City Commissioner, a 45-year member of Borger Noon Lions Club, a member of the Knife and Fork Club and the Central Church of Christ of Amarillo. He married Ruby Anderson in 1933 at Seminole, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Stewart Buckley of Amarillo; a daughter, Norma Sallee of Amarillo; two sisters, Eunice Snyder of Jenks, Okla., and Avanelle Schuessler of Nocona; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret E. Stroud Margaret E. Stroud, 78, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Wynn officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Stroud was born in Fairview, Okla., and was an Amarillo resident for 40 years. She retired after 31 years of teaching at Alice Landergin and Lamar elementary schools. She was an active member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. An avid oil painter, Mrs. Stroud was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, Amarillo Retired Teachers Association and Association of Texas Professional Educators. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 787 and was a past matron. She married Foy Lee Stroud in 1936 at Oklahoma. He died in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Engler of San Antonio and Elizabeth McKee of Houston; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Monty Gene Stingley Monty Gene "Rod" Stingley, 44, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Stingley was born in Guymon, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1967. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Gerri Riley of the home; three brothers, Benefield Stingley of Harlingen and Jerry Stingley and Laddy Stingley, both of Amarillo; and two sisters, Patricia Inman and Mary Bradshaw, both of Amarillo. Interstate 40 with the Rev. Jim Powell and Joe Emerson, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Ladehoff was born in Alva, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1924. She was a homemaker and member of First Church of the Nazarene. She married Harold Henry Ladehoff in 1936 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a son, Orville Ladehoff of Amarillo; a daughter, Harolena Powell of Panhandle; a brother, Melvin Wagner of Amarillo; a sister, Alvine Frazier of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. New Mexico Rena Willis PORTALES, N.M. - Rena Willis, 48, of Portales, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Ms. Willis was born in 1950 in Modesto, Calif., and had lived in Portales since 1978. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in small business and had worked for several years at Bishop Printing. Survivors include a son, Harold Willis of Portales; a daughter, Carrie Kaufman of Lubbock; her mother, Elizabeth Gaines of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, William Gaines Jr. of Yuma, Ariz.; three sisters, Mary Berry of Sacramento, Calif., Janet Smith of Spokane and Elizabeth Murphy of Gresham, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Area Henry Walter Morgan SHAMROCK - Henry Walter Morgan, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Shamrock Cemetery with the Rev. Don Conner of Shamrock officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mr. Morgan was born in Paducah and moved to Wheeler County as a child. For most of his life, he farmed in Wheeler and Collingsworth Counties. He was a member of the Lone Mound Baptist Church and later Samnorwood Baptist Church when the two merged. He married Vera Maye Williams in 1934 at Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his wife of Amarillo; three daughters, Rosalyn Pruitt and Emma Kay Davis, both of Amarillo, and June Anderson of Crawford; a brother, Bryan Morgan of Houston; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Alzheimer's Panhandle Chapter, 2200 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. Henry Kromer DALHART - Henry "Hank" Kromer, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Kromer was born in Texoma, Okla., and was raised in the Texas Panhandle. He attended schools in White Deer and Pampa and moved to Dalhart in the early 1940s. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a truck driver for Phillip's Petroleum for more than 30 years. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department for more than 32 years and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He married Helen Kibby in 1983 in Dalhart. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jack Stewart. Survivors include his wife; three stepchildren, Terry Kibby and June Kibby, both of Dalhart, and Patricia Hammons of Crowley; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will be at 803 Rock Island. Joyce Dobberstein HALE CENTER - Joyce Dobberstein, 56, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, in Plainview. Cremation was by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Dobberstein was born in Paris, Texas, and had lived in Plainview since 1955. She was a homemaker and a caretaker for the elderly. She married Roger Dobberstein in 1989. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Box, in 1992. Survivors include her husband; a stepdaughter, Redawna Benge of Amarillo; two stepsons, Roger Dobberstein Jr. of Amarillo and Robert Dobberstein of Peoria, Ill.; three brothers, Bobby Gipson of Plainview, Clyde Gipson of Tipton, Okla., and Herbert Gipson of New Mexico; two sisters, Rebecca Phillips of Fredrick, Okla., and Agnes Jones of Lockney; and 11 grandchildren. Bettie Phipps Craig SUNRAY - Bettie Phipps Craig, 63, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sunray Baptist Church with Kim Norwood, chaplain at Fort Hood, Philip Hilton, pastor of Sunray Baptist Church, and Bruce Broxson, minister of music at Sunray Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Craig was born in Clarksburg, Calif., and had been a Sunray resident for 40 years. She was a homemaker and member of Sunray Baptist Church where she was Sunday School teacher for the Bykota Class. She was instrumental in the development of 20th Century Study Club Endowment Scholarship Fund for Sunray High School graduates. She married Wood Burton Craig in 1954 at California. Survivors include her husband; three sons, James Burton Craig of Lawton, Okla., Daniel Wood Craig of Amarillo and Charles Frank Craig of Sunray; two daughters, Dianne Rose Monroe of Sunray and Tamera Denise Burum of Amarillo; two sisters, Thelma Beesley of Orangeville, Calif., and Ann Norris of Silverton; a brother, Charles Phipps of Jackson, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. James Cube Loveless Jr. QUANAH - James Cube "Toar" Loveless Jr., 73, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park. Mr. Loveless was born in Chillicothe and was a lifetime Hardeman County resident. A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Battle of the Bulge and at Normandy Beach. He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Eldorado, Okla. He married Pauline Knowles in 1973 at Quanah. Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, David Knowles of Quanah and John L. Knowles of Amarillo; four brothers, O.W. Loveless of Wichita Falls, Frank Loveless of Clinton, Okla., Gerald Loveless of Little Elms and D.A. Loveless of Quanah; three sisters, Mary Lyde of Dallas, Chrys Foster of Strasburg, Va., and Fairris Taylor of Sallisaw, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Wanda Barnard SUNRAY - Wanda Barnard, 56, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Mrs. Barnard was born in Soper, Okla., and was a longtime Sunray resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Sunray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Barnard, in 1986, by a daughter, Doris Troutman, in 1996, and by a son, Jimmie Martin Ray. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Dean Barnard of Elk City, Okla.; a daughter, Mary Anderson of Dumas; five sisters, Joyce Lawrence of Rockwall, Francis Long, Jimmie Chapman and LaQuita Chapman, all of Soper, and Anne O'Riley of Schertz; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 200 N. Bliss in Dumas. Ethel Mae Daniels TULIA - Ethel Mae Daniels, 88, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Church of God in Christ- Jackson Chapel with the Rev. Henry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mrs. Daniels was born and raised in Roxton where she attended schools. She moved to Vernon in 1946 and to Tulia in 1952. She had been employed by Warner Reed, by Tulia Day Nursery and retired in 1974. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ-Jackson Chapel in Tulia where she taught Sunday School and was a church mother. She married R.L. Daniels in 1934 at Nolan County. He preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include three daughters, Irene Daniels, Ann Jo Perkins and Jean Berry, all of Tulia; a son, George Daniels of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; 30 greatgrandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. George Fielding Weir CHILDRESS - George Fielding Weir, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Simms officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Weir was born in Windom and had lived in Tell and the Shores Creek community. He was a farmer and member of Co-op Gin and Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Tell Methodist Church. He married Elba Loveta McClure in 1926. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Loveta Rose of Lake Kemp; three sons, Billy Wayne Weir of Plainview and Donald Dean Weir and Ronald Weir, both of Childress; 17 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Emery Kauffman PERRYTON - Emery Kauffman, 90, of Hesston, Kan., and a former Perryton resident, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Perryton Mennonite Church with the Rev. Darwin Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Kauffman was born in Cass County, Mo. He lived in Guymon, Okla., and then lived in Perryton from 1940 until 1994 when he moved to Hesston. He was employed as a cement contractor. Mr. Kauffman was a member of the Mennonite Church in Hesston. He was on the church board and was a deacon for many years. He also was the Mennonite disaster chairman. He married Sadie Oswald in 1983. He was preceded in death in 1982 by his first wife, Mary Oswald, who he married in 1933. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Clifford Kauffman of Harrah, Okla., Joe Kauffman of Jackson, Minn., Jim Kauffman of Newton, Kan., Paul Kauffman of Lewisville and Dan Kauffman of Marble Falls; three brothers, Edward Kauffman of Phoenix, Sam Kauffman of Enid, Okla., and John Kauffman of Guymon; four sisters, Effie Sweigart of Booker, Ruth Rhodes of Guymon, Mabel Reith of Woodward, Okla., and Lulu Johnson of Perryton; 13 grandchildren; and 25 greatgrandchildren.
