Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Moorewood Baptist Church, Moorewood, Okla., with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church of Shamrock, officiating. Cremation was by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Patton was a homemaker. She retired as a restaurant cook and a convenience store manager. She married J.C. Patton in 1942. The couple lived in Moorewood for 13 years and then in Kiowa, Kan. In 1978 they moved to Woodward, Okla. Since December 1996 Mrs. Patton had been a resident of Wheeler Care Center. Her husband died in 1997. Survivors include three sons, Ron Patton of Shamrock, Bob Patton of Cheney, Kan., and J.C. Patton Jr. of Woodward; three daughters, Hazel Hendricks of Hutchinson, Kan., Virginia Saldana of Austin and Patti Hager of The Woodlands; four sisters, Lou Hanson of Bakersfield, Calif., June Shaull of Gilroy, Calif., Alberta Cravens of Medicine Lodge, Kan., and Eylene Ray of Clinton, Okla.; three brothers, Lawrence Ramsey of Byron, Okla., Don Ramsey of Mulvane, Kan., and Junior Ramsey of Watonga, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Howard J. Price PAMPA - Howard J. Price, 69, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Prock, pastor, and the Rev. John Glover, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Price was born in Bonham, where he graduated from high school in 1947. He attended Hardin-Simmons University. In 1950 he moved to Pampa. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Air Force. He was an operator for Getty Oil in Pampa for 25 years. Mr. Price was a member of First Baptist Church and of Everyman's Bible Class. He was a dual member of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF & AM and Top O' Texas Masonic Lodge No. 1381 AF & AM. He was a member of the El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory, Khiva Temple of Amarillo, and of the Pampa Shrine Club. For 10 years he served as scoutmaster for Troop 22. He married Johnnie McCollar in 1949 at Bonham. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Majana Price, in 1993. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Price of Pampa; three sisters, Betty Brown and Jeanie Jones, both of Garland, and Fay Piland of Sherman; a brother, Bobby Price of Lewisville; and four grandchildren. Doris Mae Russ PANHANDLE - Doris Mae "Doree" Russ, 75, of Eufaula, Okla., a former Panhandle resident, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Methodist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Les Hall and the Rev. Doug Harvey assisting. Burial will be in Panhandle City Cemetery by Gregg Funeral Home of Eufaula. Mrs. Russ was born in Lockwood Corners, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a retired secretary. About 18 months ago she moved from Panhandle to Eufaula. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Panhandle. Her first husband, James Harold Hayes, died in 1956. Later that year she married Dellis Russ at Tucumcari, N.M. He also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Keith Hayes of Tucumcari and Gerald Hayes of Sahuarita, Ariz.; a daughter, Beverly Bichsel of Checotah, Okla.; a stepson, Mike Russ of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Sue Martin of Claude; a brother, Lloyd Hare of Panhandle; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Bernice Jean Hartzog FARWELL - Bernice Jean Hartzog, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church of Bovina with the Rev. J.B. Fowler, retired minister from Irving, and the Rev. Don McNerlin of Bovina, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by EllisBlackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Hartzog was born in Groom, where she graduated from high school in 1933. She attended West Texas State College for three years. In 1949 Mrs. Hartzog moved from Floydada to Parmer County. She was a farmer and rancher and a member of the American Angus Association for 47 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Methodist Church in Bovina for 49 years. She also belonged to the Bovina Women's Study Club and the Bridge Clubs of Bovina and of Clovis, N.M. She married Arlin Leroy Hartzog in 1936 at Amarillo. He died in 1986. Survivors include a son, Arlin "Roy" Leroy Hartzog Jr. of Farwell; three daughters, Helen Arline Estlack of Clarendon, Sharon Kay Strawn of Panhandle and Dixi Jean Jones of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Lucille Smith of Mesquite and Mabel Beardsley of New Castle, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Edith M. Eddy CHILDRESS - Edith M. Eddy, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Bratton of Paducah; and two granddaughters. Willie Scruggs Wells WELLINGTON - Willie Scruggs Wells, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Adams, pastor, and the Rev. Larry White, pastor of Quail Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Wells was born in 1905. In 1918 her family moved to Clarendon, where she attended Clarendon High School and Clarendon College. The family moved to Wellington in 1925. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Texas Technological College and a masters degree in musicology from West Texas State College. Mrs. Wells taught for 37 years in rural schools. She was principal for seven years at Loco Consolidated School. For 17 years she taught at Quail Consolidated School, where she organized the Quail Girls Choir, which has toured nationally. Mrs. Wells was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Loyalty Sunday School Class. She also was a member of Texas Retired Teachers, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Order of the Eastern Star, National Federated Music Club and several Wellington study clubs. She married Lowell Wynn Wells in 1932 at Shamrock. He died in 1961. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Nell Holton and Mildred Faye Starr, both of Wellington; and nine nieces and nephews. She had been employed as an administrator for companies in Colorado and Texas. A Pampa resident since 1944, she worked for 20 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Highland General Hospital. For seven years she was employed as an LVN by Coronado Nursing Home, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Briarwood Full Gospel Church. She married John Claunch in 1930 at Altus, Okla. He died in 1975. She also was preceded in death by a son, James Claunch, in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Welch and Charlotte Hall, both of Pampa; a son, Johnny Claunch of Pampa; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Waldo T. Galan TULIA - Waldo T. Galan, 64, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wallace Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Holy Spirit by the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez, pastor. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Galan was born in Ojiniga, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he attended school. He received a teaching certificate in Mexico and taught school for two years. Mr. Galan was employed as warehouse foreman by Taylor Evans Seed Co. in Tulia for 14 years. He also was a farm laborer contractor. For 30 years he and his wife, Isabel Galan, performed as a duet, El Dueto Los Galan. They recorded several records. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia Longoria and Hila Galan, both of San Antonio, and Leticia Ana Caraveo of Tulia; a son, Eugene Galan of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, Jubentino Galan of McCamey; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Linda Charlotte Bodey SPEARMAN - Linda Charlotte Rogers Bodey, 58, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998. He died in 1994. Mr. McMinn was born in Pittsburg, Texas. A Navy veteran, he served in World War II. He retired from Kroger Co. Warehouse in Kanawha City. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in St. Albans. He also belonged to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local No. 175. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. McMinn; three daughters, Janiece Mack, Phyllis Mace and Evelyn Bailey, all of Charleston; a son, Charles E. In 1916 his family moved to Dodson, where he attended school. He was a farmer and rancher. He had served on the Dodson Coop Gin Board and the Farmers Union Board. He was a Mason. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Dorthea Gray in 1957 at Memphis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Connell. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Barry Farris of Midland and Tom Akins of Austin; a daughter, Sherrye Harris of Buchanan; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
