Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Chapel at Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Garrett, senior pastor, and the Rev. Bill Wade, associate pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Garrett and the Rev. Wade officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Harrison was born in Hood and moved to Amarillo in 1917. She graduated from North Texas State University and earned her master's degree from West Texas State University. She taught at public schools in Amarillo and Borger. She was a volunteer for the Wesleyan Barrio, where she taught sewing. She was a Greek and Roman history scholar and had traveled to Europe nine times. Mrs. Harrison was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Co-Workers Sunday School class and the first youth group at the church. She also was a member of the Athenean Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Harrison, in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Janie Sue Harrison of Mannheim, Germany; and two sisters, Louise Halsey of Borger and Doris Conner of Amarillo. Pattye Jackson Uhrig Pattye Jackson Uhrig, 89, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with Bill Wadley officiating. Burial will be in Claude. Mrs. Uhrig was born in Clinton, Ky. She moved to Amarillo in 1910 from Washburn. She was employed as a licensed vocational nurse. She was a member of the Emblem Club and Federated Home Arts Club. She married David Henry Uhrig in 1929 at Sayre, Okla. He died in 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Divie Pravettone of California and Carol Clark and Donne Oliver, both of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Barbara Sue Hert McCune Barbara Sue Hert McCune, 48, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 5, 1998. Private services are planned at a later date. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. McCune was born in Louisville, Ky., and was a longtime Amarillo resident. She was a homemaker. She married Robert Lee McCune in 1974 at Louisville. Survivors include two brothers, Jack Hert and Robert Hert, both of Louisville; and a sister, Martha Finerty of Louisville. Ernest Breeding Ernest Breeding, 67, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 6, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Breeding was born in Quanah and had been an Amarillo resident since 1957. He retired after 35 years as a carpenter for Mason & Hanger Pantex Plant. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He married Ruth Reed in 1958 at Las Vegas, N.M. She preceded him in death in May. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Byars of Amarillo; two sons, Randy Breeding of Tuttle, Okla., and Russell Breeding of Frisco; two sisters, Betty Zanchettin of Amarillo and Marie Youngblood of Weatherford; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Hazel Marie Allsup Hazel Marie Allsup, 75, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Garden Mausoleum with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Cemetery Garden Mausoleum by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Allsup was born in Wood County and raised in towns in East and West Texas. She moved to Amarillo in 1942 from Lubbock. She owned and operated her own beauty shop. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Sterling R. Allsup in 1942 at San Diego. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ronnie Allsup of Austin and Rick Allsup of Amarillo; two sisters, Billie Raines of Atlanta and Darline Virden of Tyler; and a granddaughter. Oklahoma Amanda DeHarde Farris EL RENO, Okla. - Amanda DeHarde Farris, 93, a former Hooker resident, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Liberal, Kan. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hooker Cemetery with Elder Milton Rice officiating. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Farris was born in Marion County, Kan. She moved with her family to Tyrone and later to Hooker. She married John Henry Farris in 1938 at Dalhart, Texas. They lived in Dalhart before moving to Liberal, Kan., and in 1965, they moved to El Reno, where they retired. Mr. Farris died in 1990. In 1994, she moved to the Good Samaritan home at Liberal, Kan. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also of the Rebekah's Lodge 4 in El Reno. Survivors include a brother, Edward DeHarde of Scotts Bluff, Neb. Elsewhere George Irvin Neel SAN ANGELO - George Irvin Neel, 83, died Saturday, July 4, 1998. Services were Monday, July 6, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Miller of Park Heights Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Neel was born in Gustine and moved to Big Spring where he graduated from Big Spring High School. He worked for Big Spring State Bank. He enlisted in the Air Force during World War II as a physical training instructor. After the war, he moved to San Angelo, where he worked for the Texas Employment Commission for 32 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Park Heights Baptist Church and the Civitan organization. Survivors include his wife, Charline; two daughters, Lisa Goetz of San Angelo and Judy Lanzafame of Irving; a son, Randy Lichnovsky of Arlington; two sisters, Virginia Wright of Muskogee, Okla., and Wanda Wiley of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Cecil Neel of Keller and Julius Neel of Memphis, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hospice of San Angelo or a favorite charity. New Mexico Mary Budz CONCHAS DAM, N.M. - Mary Budz, 74, died Monday, July 6, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. John Mikow, minister of United Presbyterian Church of Tucumcari, officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Budz was born in Akron, Ohio and had been a Conchas Dam resident for the past 18 years. She was an Army veteran having served in the Korean conflict. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving Mrs. Budz is her husband, Edward, of Conchas Dam. The casket will not be open for viewing. Area Al Hunt DALHART - Al Hunt, 69, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Denver. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Hein, deacon of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church by the Rev. Dale Guidry, pastor. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart. Mr. Hunt was born in Tablerock, Neb. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1947 and farmed and ranched in the Rehm community for many years. In 1963, he joined the Papal Volunteers and served in British Honduras. After his service time, he began working for the Texas State Highway Department as a maintenance engineer, retiring in 1990. In 1992 he moved to Denver after being paralyzed in an accident. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include three sisters, Ann Hunt and Theresa Hein, both of Denver and Loretto Long of Jacksonville, Fla. The family will be at the home of Ron and Terri Hien, 921 Ash. Rudolph Sanchez FARWELL - Rudolph Sanchez, 68, died Sunday, July 5, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Church of Christ with Dennis Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace Cemetery at Farwell by Steed-Todd Funeral Directors of Clovis, N.M. Mr. Sanchez was born in Cuero. He married Benita Castillo in 1952 at Lamesa. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jane Morales of The Colony, Irene Edwards of Red Rock, Ariz., and Ruby Sanchez of Farwell; three sons, Rudolph Sanchez Jr. of Fort Irwin, Calif., Mike Sanchez of Red Rock and Sammy Sanchez of Germany; four brothers, Manuel Sanchez, Benito Sanchez and Fred Sanchez, all of Lamesa and Eqesipo Sanchez of Lubbock; five sisters, Edwina Sanchez and Maria Sanchez, both of Lamesa, Eloisa Salazar and Juana Vidales, both of Lubbock and Emma Villereal of Abilene; and 11 grandchildren. Marie K. Stewart PAMPA - Marie K. Stewart, a former Erick, Okla., resident, died Monday, July 6, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Texola Baptist Church with Charlie Floyd and Paul Nachtgall officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery in Mayfield, Okla., by Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home of Erick, Okla. Mrs. Stewart was born and raised in Mayfield. Her family moved to Erick where she graduated valedictorian of her high school class in 1932. She received her teaching certificate from Southwestern State University. After returning to Mayfield, she taught fifth and sixth grades. Mrs. Stewart moved to Stillwater in 1938 where she taught school while working on her master's degree at Oklahoma State University. At OSU, she received her master of science degree and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. She then taught school at Gould, Sweetwater and Saguache, Colo. Mrs. Stewart retired in 1985 after 31 years as a teacher in Saguache. She did postgraduate work, including in journalism, at Adams State College, the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley and New Mexico Highlands University of Las Vegas. After retirement, Mrs. Stewart and her husband returned to Erick in 1993. She was a member of Texola Baptist Church. They recently moved to Pampa. She married Orville Stewart in 1934 at Erick. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe E. Stewart of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Irene Reed of Erick and Celia Miller of Burwick, Pa.; and two grandchildren. Annie Mae Bright-Taylor DIMMITT - Annie Mae Bright-Taylor, 97, died Monday, July 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ with Harry Riggs, minister, and Dean Wiseman, assistant minister, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Homes of Dimmitt. Mrs. Bright-Taylor was born in Palo Pinto. She lived in Dimmitt from 1944 until 1993 when she moved to Trent. She was a member of Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ and Castro County Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin J. Bright, in 1967, and by her second husband, Amzy H. Taylor, in 1980. Survivors include a brother, Sherman Driggers of Trent; two sisters, Willie Hoffman of Brady and Myrtle Perkins of Abilene; and many nieces and nephews. Maria Martinez HALE CENTER - Maria Martinez, 95, a former resident of Cotton, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Center Plains Chapel with the Rev. Mel Gomez, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hale Center, officiating. Burial will be in Center Plains Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Martinez was born in Del Rio. She lived in Cotton for 35 years before moving to Hale Center in 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cotton Center. She married Juan Martinez in 1924 at Del Rio. He died in 1978. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Louisa, in 1926, and a son, Lois, in 1957. Survivors include three sons, Willie Martinez and Augustine Martinez, both of Hale Center, and Samuel Martinez of Plainview; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Jay Rippy PERRYTON - Jay Rippy, 86, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Latham officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Rippy was born in Denton and moved to Perryton from Enid, Okla., 37 years ago. He built and was owner of the Cattlemen's Livestock Auction in Dalhart and was owner of Hedley Feedlot in Hedley. He was a Mason and member of the Petroleum Lodge in Tulsa. He married Verdie Lee in 1935 at Tulsa. She died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Daniel of Perryton; a brother, John Rippy of Whittier, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2705 Grinnell in Perryton.
