Mrs. Brazil graduated from Oklahoma Lane High School and then attended Benson's School of Commerce in Clovis, N.M. When she was 22, she moved to Canyon where she was employed on the switchboard of the telephone company. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1980 as a customer sales representative. She married Robert Marvin Brazil in 1954 at Clovis. He preceded her in death in 1985. Survivors include three daughters, Jeannie Lewis of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Judy Innes of Austin and Doris Brazil of Dallas; a sister, Vernell Campbell of Fritch; a brother, James Berry of Clovis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. New Mexico Nellie Mae Frances Wilson CLOVIS, N.M. - Nellie Mae Frances Wilson, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Rush officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Mrs. Wilson was born in Greenville, S.C., and had been a Clovis resident since 1951. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 3015. She was married to Arthur Eugene Wilson. Survivors include a son, Joe C. Wilson of Belen; a daughter, Linda Moore of Lancaster, Calif.; six granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Harold Jack Shores TEXHOMA, Okla. - Harold Jack Shores, 77, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Mike Dumler officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home of Texhoma. Mr. Shores was born in Eva and spent his life in Texas County. He was a custom harvester, farmer and rancher in Eva and Texhoma community. At one time, he was employed by Texas County. In 1943, Mr. Shores joined the Army and served in New Guinea and the South Pacific during World War II as a cook. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended First Christian Church. He married Kathy McLeod Hooper in 1971 at Boise City. His first marriage was to Bernice Norris Huddleston in 1951. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Galen Shores of Newcastle and Terry Shores of Goodwell; a daughter, Jeanne Lathrop of Boise City; four stepchildren, Linda McDaniel of Claremore, Darrel Huddleston of Texhoma, Charles Royall of San Angelo, Texas, and Robert Royall of Kodiak, Alaska; two sisters, Eunice Sexton of Guymon and Bossie Webb of Eva; 26 grandchildren; and 21 greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Texhoma Cemetery or Keenagers of Texhoma. Elsewhere Dicksie Maguire BRENHAM - Dicksie Maguire, 81, a former Amarillo resident, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998. Memorial services were at noon Wednesday at Kruse Memorial Village. Arrangements were by Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Maguire moved to Dallas around 1962 from Amarillo. She recently moved to Brenham. While living in Amarillo, she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She had been married to George W. "Mickey" Maguire for 58 years. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mike Maguire of the Houston area; two daughters, Sharon Brass and Pat Phillips, both of the Houston area; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Maguire Family, 350 Highway 290 No. 8, Hempstead, TX 77445. Area Albert Buren Reynolds DALHART - Albert Buren Reynolds, 95, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. No public services will be held. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Reynolds was born in Bowie. Following two homesteads in Oklahoma, the family moved to Dalhart in 1920, where he attended high school. He graduated in 1923. He married Vio Randel in 1926 in Dalhart. He farmed and became a golf professional. In 1934, he and his family moved to California, where he played in several tournaments. In 1937, they moved to Grants Pass, Ore., and later to Springfield, Ore. He worked for many years as a carpenter in Oregon. He continued playing in amateur golf tournaments wherever he lived. He also lived in Arizona, Colorado and Florida before returning to Dalhart last year. Survivors include a daughter, Edith Reynolds of McMinnville, Ore.; two sons, Carl Reynolds of Lincoln City, Ore., and Gayle Reynolds of Chico, Calif.; four brothers, Ramon Reynolds and Levi Reynolds, both of Dalhart, Ralph Reynolds of Gruver and Wayne Reynolds of Brea, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchildren. Johnny Wayne Worthan HEREFORD - Johnny Wayne Worthan, 43, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Sanders officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel of Hereford. Mr. Worthan was born in Muskegon, Mich. He was an aviation mechanic and machinist and had been employed by Fairchild Aviation in San Antonio. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hereford. He married Carol Edds in 1972 in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Chadrick Worthan of San Antonio; two daughters, Laray Worthan and Crystal McKay, both of Hereford; a sister, Linda Phillips of Gold Bar, Wash.; a brother, James Martin of Michigan; his stepmother, Gayle Worthan of Hereford; and four grandchildren. Lula Marie Walton DUMAS - Lula Marie Walton, 64, formerly of Dumas, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in Ontario, Calif. Mrs. Walton was born in Stinnett and moved to California three years ago from Dumas. She was a motel manager and a member of Hunt Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Walton, in 1984. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 211 Zauk, Dumas. They will be at 108 Carson. Evangeline Kotara WHITE DEER - Evangeline Kotara, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998. Vigil and rosary services will be at 7 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer with Monsignor Kevin Hand of the church officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in White Deer. Mrs. Kotara was born in Farwell, Neb., and moved to White Deer in 1914. With her husband, she farmed and ranched in Carson County. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was church organist for 66 years. Mrs. Kotara was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, White Deer Senior Citizens, White Deer Art Club and the Daughters of the Pioneers. She married Laddie Kotara in 1935 at White Deer. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, a son, Jerry Kotara, and a daughter, Kay Craig. Survivors include two sisters, Isabel Urbanczyk of White Deer and Jeri Wyatt of Panhandle; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Loraine Davis MULESHOE - Loraine "Lou" Davis, 88, of Farwell, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe with the Rev. Glenn Harlan of Odessa officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Oglesby and moved with her family to Muleshoe in 1947. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Muleshoe, Muleshoe Sewing Club and Order of the Eastern Star where she was past worthy matron. She was a homemaker. She married Clifford Green, who died in 1953. Her second marriage was to Floyd Henry Davis, who died in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Janell Crego of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Gwennie Lou Pendergrass WELLINGTON - Gwennie Lou Pendergrass, 84, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Quail Baptist Church with the Rev. Mrs. Pendergrass was born in Carrie and was a lifelong resident of Wellington. She was a homemaker and a member of The Faith Baptist Church. She married A.C. Pendergrass in 1929 at Wellington. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tommy Carl Pendergrass of Bridgeport; three daughters, Maud Minyard of Pampa, Dorothy Jean Parker of Wellington and Melba Nunnelley of Amarillo; a sister, Doris Fisher of Arlington; two brothers, Burl Long of Athens and Lawson Long of Mexia; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Berta Kitchens MULESHOE - Berta Kitchens, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Trinity Baptist Church of Muleshoe with the Rev. Jim Green of Lubbock and the Rev. Mike Goodwin of Festus, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Kitchens was born in Lamar County. She moved to Muleshoe from Sudan in 1938. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church. She married Ira Kitchens in 1940 at Muleshoe. He died in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Bunt Kitchens and Larry Kitchens, both of Muleshoe; three daughters, Glena Polson of Whorton, Charlie Lipke of Roby and Gail Goodwin of Festus, Mo.; a sister, Dode Misner of Slaton; a brother, Don Glenn of Benton, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe P. Weldon, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, and the Rev. Joe Johnson, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cate was born in Madill, Okla., and grew up in Littlefield. He was a farmer in Littlefield, Abernathy and Tucumcari, N.M., before moving to Plainview in 1960. He farmed until his retirement in 1971 when he moved to Lubbock. He returned to Plainview in 1997. He was a Baptist. He married Millie Elizabeth Perry in 1933 at Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990 by and a daughter, Bessie Nell Cate, in 1994. Survivors include four daughters, Thelma Rowlett of Amarillo, Vita Sherril of Lubbock, Nancy Greer of Plainview and Charlotte Martin of Abilene; six sons, Alvie Jo Jones of Forrest Hills, Calif.; Billy Ray Cate and Joe Cate, both of Lubbock, and James Cate, Charles Cate and Freddy Cate, all of Plainview; 42 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Gertrude Swindell MEMPHIS - Gertrude Swindell, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Posey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Mrs. Swindell was born in Cunningham. She moved to Memphis from Plaska in 1961 and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Dale Swindell, in 1983. Survivors include five sons, Bud Swindell of Runaway Bay, Tom Swindell of Amarillo, Maurice Swindell of Louisville, Darrell Swindell of Oklahoma City and D.L. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Blanche Hudson EARTH - Blanche Hudson, 89, of Farwell, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Earth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Reed-Ferris, pastor, and the Rev. Ron Brewer, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Clovis, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Earth Memorial Cemetery by ParsonsEllis Funeral Home. Mrs. Hudson was born in Carbon. She and her family moved their Ford dealership from Dimmitt to Earth in 1940. In 1992, she moved to Clovis and then to Farwell in 1994. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Earth United Methodist Church, charter member and past president of Town and County Study Club and of the Good Earth Garden Club. She wrote columns for the Sudan Beacon News and Earth Weekly Newspaper, "From the Scrapbook of Mrs. E.C. Hudson". On her 82nd birthday in 1991, the Earth United Methodist Church dedicated the Special Assembly Sunday School Room to her for her many years of service to the children and youth of the church and community. She was featured as "Sweetheart" on Channel Six Television, also in 1991. She married E.C. Hudson in 1926 at Plainview. He died in 1989. Survivors include a son, Hal Hudson of Amarillo; three daughters, Monte Smith of Plainview, Jonisue Cearley of Lovington, N.M., and Jeri Byrnes of Clovis; a sister, Mattie "JoJo" Chester of Olton; 10 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until noon today and from 2 until 5 p.m. Friday at the church. They suggest memorials be to a favorite charity.
