Mrs. Collins was born in Shamrock and had lived in Moore County since 1947. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for Mission American Placement Service, was a member of Gideons Ladies Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and also was involved with the Welcome Wagon. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church where she had been church secretary and a Sunday school teacher for the primary department. She married Bob Collins in 1946 in Pampa. She was preceded in death by a son, David Collins, in 1993. Mrs. Fisher was born in Tupelo, Miss., and lived in Quanah for most of her life. She was a retired nurse and member of First Baptist Church. She married Ruben E. Fisher in 1919 at Avery. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Eugene. Survivors include a son, Alvin Fisher of Quanah; six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Mrs. Vanpool was born in Kelton and was a resident of Wheeler County all of her life. She graduated from Kelton High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University. In 1939, she graduated from West Texas State University. Mrs. Vanpool taught at Sandy Basin School, Twitty School and Magic City School. She taught in the Wheeler School system for 18 years and retired in 1973. Mrs. Vanpool was a member of Business Women's Club, Progressive Study Club, the Retired Teachers Association and the Texas State Teachers Association. She was a member of the Country Chapel Church. She married A.O. "Bud" Vanpool in 1942 at Wheeler. He died in 1983. Aurelia Childs Anderson CANYON - Aurelia Childs Anderson, 88, of Canyon, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Bales, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Anderson was born in St. Paul, Minn. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1932. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Anderson Contracting Co. in Longmont, Colo., from 1949 to 1962. She was active with many local and national organizations and attended the organizational meeting of the American Association of University Women, serving as president of the local branch from 1974 to 1976. Beginning as a Girl Scouts of America member in high school, Mrs. Anderson held many offices in that organization, including founder and first president of the Mountain Prairie Girl Scout Council from 1952 to 1955. From 1963 to 1971 she was part-time district director of the council. She received the Juliet Lowe World Friendship Award, which is GSA's highest honor. After 41 years of service, she was awarded a Lifetime Girl Scout membership in 1983. Mrs. Anderson also was active in other local organizations, including the Parent Teacher Association and the boards of the Longmont Symphony, Longmont Hospital and Longmont Museum. She served on the Governing Council of the Denver Area Community Colleges from 1973 to 1985. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Longmont First United Methodist Church, serving the local and national church in various capacities. In later years she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon. In 1968 Mrs. Anderson was selected as Colorado Mother of the Year. She married Harold Anderson in 1934 in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Sherwood Anderson of Huntsville; two daughters, Aurelia Colette of Canyon and Virginia Womack of Austin; a sister, Virginia Tollefson of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Henry Councilman of Carlton, Minn.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. New Mexico Marla Jo Demaline CLOVIS, N.M. - Marla Jo Demaline, 56, of Lawrence, Kan., a former Clovis resident, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Muffley Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis with the Rev. J.M. Barnard officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Demaline was born in Chickasha, Okla., and had lived in Clovis until moving to Kansas in 1984. She had been employed by Echols Realty in Clovis. In Lawrence, she was co-manager of a mobile home park. She married C.L. "Butch" Demaline in 1972 at Clovis. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jason Moore of Clovis, Shawn Demaline of Lawrence and Jody Demaline of Edgerton, Kan.; a daughter, Lisa Fickling of Farwell, Texas; and six grandchildren. Felix Miguel Gutierrez TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Felix Miguel Gutierrez, 34, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Gutierrez was born in Tucumcari. A member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, he served as president of the student senate at Mesa Technological College. He was a lifelong Tucumcari resident. Survivors include two sisters, Adela Vazquez of Tucumcari and Georgia Rios of Farmington; and four brothers, Jimmy Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez and Sammy Gutierrez, all of Albuquerque, and Johnny Gutierrez of San Jose, Calif. Anthony Suellentrop officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Sharon by Fisher Funeral Home of Kiowa. Mrs. Parks was born in Sharon and moved to Kiowa in 1950. She was employed as a clerk and a care giver. She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She married Alvin H. Parks in 1957 at Kiowa. She was preceded in death by two stepsons, Alvin Lee and Jerry Parks, and a stepdaughter, Patricia. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Anita Patterson of Pampa, Texas; two stepdaughters, Kay Woods of Sherman, Texas, and Neva Hammock of Alvin, Texas; three sisters, Agnes Norwood of Perryton, Texas, Leona Blurton of Medicine Lodge and Elizabeth Blurton of Sharon; two granddaughters; seven stepgrandchildren; and 16 stepgreatgrandchildren. Kent Evans Copeland SHALLOWATER - Kent Evans Copeland, 53, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Cremation services were by Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Copeland was born in Biloxi, Miss. He graduated from Panhandle High School and studied at Texas Tech University. For 30 years, he was in the aviation business in Lubbock and owned Wes-Tex Aircraft. Survivors include a son, Chris K. Copeland of Austin; and a daughter, Cara A. Copeland of New York City. The family requests memorials be to St. Mary's Hospital Chemical Dependency Unit. Henry Newman Wilke EL CAMPO - Henry Newman Wilke, 43, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Lane officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery by Triska Funeral Home. Mr. Wilke was born in Victoria. He was a 1973 graduate of El Campo High School where he was a member of the Ricebird football team. He was a former Boy Scout leader and was co-owner of Wilke Tire Service. Survivors include two daughters, Kristina Wilke and Katie Wilke, both of Amarillo; a son, Robert Henry Wilke of El Campo; his mother, Plama Harwell Wilke of El Campo; four sisters, Terri Wilke Hogan, Dianne Wilke Valcik and Karen Joyce Belcolore, all of El Campo, and Jennifer Wilke Perkins of New Braunfels; and his fiancee, Sandra Neely of El Campo. The family requests memorials be to Memorial Baptist Church. Merle S. Knight LUBBOCK - Merle S. Knight, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at City of Lubbock Cemetery with Horace Coffman officiating. Burial will be by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Knight was born in Grayson County. She graduated from Floydada High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Tech University. After teaching elementary school for several years, she was employed by the Department of Public Safety for five years and then by the Texas Employment Commission, retiring after 10 years of service. Mrs. Knight was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lubbock Genealogy Society. She married Stuart B. Knight in 1945. He died in 1963. Survivors include two sons, Royce Knight of Neenah, Wis., and Thomas Knight of Wichita Falls; a brother, John H. Scoggin of Lubbock; and two sisters, Lou Hansen of Amarillo and Charlotte Nahigan of Newport Beach, Calif. Constance Smith SEDONA, Ariz. - Constance "Heidi" Smith, 41, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998. Private family services were held on Friday. Arrangements were by Sedona Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Libertyville, Ill. She had been a resident of Sedona for 16 years. Survivors include a stepson, A.J. Smith; a daughter, Sedona Cassevah of Sacramento, Calif.; her parents, William "Mike" and Maurine Foy of Amarillo; four sisters, Betty Funk of White Lake, Mich., Margaret Fellabaum, Diana Ricenbaw and JoAnn McKillip, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Fred Foy of Ingleside, Ill., Billy Foy and Henry "Hank" Foy, both of Amarillo; and three grandchildren.
