Bradley Homer P. Bradley, 69, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Jim Smith, pastor of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Bradley was born and raised in Tulia and moved to Amarillo in 1972 from Tulia. He owned and operated Amarillo Pest Control. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. He married Shirley Vaughan in 1954 at Happy. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Malia Whitman of Amarillo; a son, Danny Bradley of Amarillo; two brothers, Melvin Bradley of Amarillo and Carl Bradley of Ruidoso, N.M.; a sister, Ada Riley of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Paul Francis Kaplan Paul Francis Kaplan, 64, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel in Borger. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Catholic Church in Borger with Monsignor Norbert Keuhler, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Field of Honor in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Kaplan was born in Rockwell, Iowa. He graduated from Borger High School in 1951. He moved to Amarillo in 1997 from Albuquerque, N.M. Mr. Kaplan served in the Air Force for 26 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He was employed for 15 years as property manager for Bio Medical Research. He was Catholic. He married Helen Newsham in 1967 at Albuquerque. Survivors include his wife; four sons, David Kaplan, Paul Kaplan and Michael Kaplan, all of Amarillo, and Steven Kaplan of Dallas; a stepson, Thomas Lautieri of Albuquerque; a stepdaughter, Eugenia Mazei of Michigan; his mother, Ann Kaplan of Borger; three brothers, Jack Kaplan of Borger, Dick Kaplan of Littleton, Colo., and Larry Kaplan of Longview; a sister, Mary Bond of Odessa; and 12 grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Effie Louise Bell Hicks Effie Louise Bell Hicks, 89, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. She was a former Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, C.G. Bell Sr. Survivors include her husband, W.C. Hicks; two daughters, Sadie Lee Brown of Canyon and Rebecca Timmens of Amarillo; two sons, Arthur Bell of Walls, Miss., and John Bell of Horn Lake, Wis.; a sister, Goldie England of Welch, W.Va.; 29 grandchildren; more than 77 great-grandchildren; and more than 100 great-great grandchildren. Beulah Rodgers Beulah "Pinkie" Rodgers, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Copeville and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She was employed for 15 years as credit manager for Hub Clothiers and was a secretary for Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She married Lawrence W. Rodgers in 1943 at Cheyenne, Wyo. He died in 1997. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys Hazel Hardage Gladys Hazel Hardage, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell. Mrs. Hardage was born in Minden, La., and had been a resident of Amarillo for 16 years. She was Baptist. She married Billy F. Hardage in 1967 at Greenville. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Kenneth Hardage, in 1997. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Fred Hardage of Amarillo and Vernon L. Hardage of Wills Point; two stepsons, Donnie and Ray Hardage, both of Dallas; three siblings, Lillian Connell of Bryan, Edgar Clingan of Shreveport, La., and T.E. He died in 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Dora Jane Green; four sons, James H. Whiteley of Amarillo, Wayne Whiteley of Fontana, Calif., John Robert Whiteley of San Antonio and George W. She graduated from Tucumcari High School and was working as an accountant. New Mexico Jessie Russell Keim LOGAN, N.M. - Jessie Russell "J.R." Keim, 76, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Tucumcari with the Rev. Bob Brown, minister of First Baptist Church of Texico, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. (CDT) in the family plot at Hanson Cemetery just west of Spearman. Mr. Keim was born in Ochiltree County, Texas, and moved to the Logan area in 1977 from Spearman, Texas. While living in Spearman, he farmed and ranched. He also farmed and ranched about 15 years in the Logan area before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Dr. Glenn Keim of Clovis; a sister, Jane Lackey of Anson, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. The body will be available for viewing until service time today at the funeral home. Oklahoma Myrtle Belle Smith ELK CITY, Okla. - Myrtle Belle Smith, 90, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Cox officiating. Arrangements are by Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Mrs. Smith was born near Port. She was a member of the first graduating class of Foss High School in 1925. She received a bachelor's and a master's degree from Southwestern State College at Weatherford. She taught school for 33 years at Crawford, Spring Creek, Fort Carson, Colo., and Elk City. She had been a member of Elk City First Presbyterian Church for many years. For the last seven years, she had lived at the Bell Avenue Nursing Center at Elk City. She married Arthur Leland Smith in 1926 at Foss. He died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, M. Irene Unger of Amarillo; two sons, Clarence Smith of Elk City and Ronald Smith of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, Clayton Hall of Livermore, Calif.; a sister, Naomi Tyler of Elk City; three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. Canyon Rebecca Chapman Rebecca "Becky" Chapman, 39, of Canyon, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. She graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1983. She had worked for Tulia Hospital and Palo Duro Hospital as a charge nurse and was a home health nurse. She was employed by Dr. Pedro Hernandez in Amarillo. She attended First United Methodist Church and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She married David Chapman in 1985. Mrs. Akers was born in Matador and grew up in south Texas. She lived in Wichita Falls during her first marriage to Floyd Langford. She moved to Perryton in 1960. She had been an employee of the Ochiltree General Hospital. Her husband, Otto Akers, died in 1973. She also was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Langford, in 1989. Survivors include a son, Robert Langford of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Fay Dawson Christian STINNETT - Fay Dawson Christian, 84, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Mrs. Christian was born in Hickory, N.C., and had lived in Stinnett for 51 years. She was a food technician at a Spearman nursing home and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Fred Dawson of Amarillo, Larry Dawson of Arnett, Okla., and Rooster Dawson of Stinnett; a daughter, Harriett Watson of Milano; a stepson, L.B. Allison of Wickett; a brother, Glen Mackie of Spearman; four sisters, Elsie Womble of Amarillo, Willie Clement of Spearman, Geneva Ogle of Borger and Joan Roberts of Norman, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sloan was born in Hedley and had been a resident of Clarendon most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church. Ollie Vaughn DUMAS - Ollie Vaughn, 90, of Borger, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery in Quanah with the Rev. Jimmy Pugh, retired Baptist minister of Wichita Falls, officiating. Arrangements are by Morris Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Vaughn was born in Searcy, Ark. She was a longtime resident of Hardeman County and a Borger resident since 1983. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church Sunday school class in Quanah. She married James Bennie Vaughn in 1924 at Hardeman County. He died in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Avis Smith of Dumas; four grandsons; and several great-grandchildren. The family will be at the Avis Smith home, four miles north of Dumas. Georgia Crutchfield HEREFORD - Georgia Crutchfield, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., and a former resident of the Panhandle area, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. Private family services will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with arrangements by Parkside Chapel of Hereford. Ms. Crutchfield was born in White Deer of pioneer parents. She graduated from White Deer High School and West Texas State Teachers College. Ms. Crutchfield moved to Pampa in 1970 and to Tucson in 1970. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pampa. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Peggy Higgins of Hereford. Vernon Ward BOVINA - Vernon "Hoss" Ward, 88, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Bovina with the Rev. Gary Morgan, pastor, and Cecil Bunch of Clovis, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by EllisBlackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Ward was born and raised in Florence. He moved to Bovina in 1932. He was self-employed as a mechanic on automobile and irrigation motors. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Dottie Denney in 1933 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Billie Harrison of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
