Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Quanah Church of Christ with J.B. Lamb of Hilltop Lakes officiating. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery by PriceJackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Richmond was born in Goodlett and had lived in Quanah most of her life. She was a teacher. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Bob Richmond in 1952 at McAllen. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Charles Richmond of Moore, Okla.; a daughter, Robyn Knight of Lubbock; four sisters, Billye McKaskle, Norma Fay Jackson, Dorothy Goss and Robbie Hurt, all of Quanah; a brother, Clifford Owen of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Clara Guerrero HEREFORD - Clara Guerrero, 80, of Albuquerque, N.M., and formerly of Hereford, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today at Templo El Calvario Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Templo El Calvario Assembly of God Church with Hector Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Guerrero was born in Geronimo. A Hereford resident from 1956 to 1977, she lived in Amarillo for several years before moving to Albuquerque. She married Hilario Guerrero. He died in 1977. Survivors include three sons, Catarino Guerrero and Joe Guerrero, both of Amarillo, and Alex Guerrero of Los Alamos, N.M.; four daughters, Eva Gonzales of Hereford, Dora Ramirez of Tulsa, Okla., and Maria Paiz and Lydia Guerrero, both of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. William Doran Stevens Sr. FRITCH - William Doran Stevens Sr., 79, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Westlawn Cemetery with Richard Kasko, minister of Fritch Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Stevens was born in Joplin, Mo. During World War II he served in the Army. He was a Fritch resident for 46 years. A member of Local No. 196 Pipe & Steamfitters Union, he was retired from petroleum refinery construction. Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Stevens, in 1971. Survivors include three sons, William D. Stevens Jr. of Monument, Colo., Michael Stevens of Fritch and Bobby Stevens of Layton, Utah; a daughter, Allida Ashley of Waco; a sister, Eunice Storey of Enid, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Fayetta Hudson DUMAS - Fayetta Hudson, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with Dr. Mike Weinman, pastor, officiating. Order of the Eastern Star rites will follow the church service. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Gypsum Cemetery, Salina, Kan. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hudson was born in Brazil, Ind., and grew up in Salina. A 60-year resident of Dumas, she was a co-owner of Magnolia Wholesale in the 1940s and a co-owner of Dumas Butane from 1953 to the early 1970s. Mrs. Hudson was a longtime member of First Christian Church and belonged to its Voyagers Sunday School Class. She was a member of Dilettante Study Club and Dumas Chapter No. 653, Order of the Eastern Star. She married Harold Bain in 1938 at Salina. He died in 1948. In 1952, she married Cecil Hudson in Dumas. He died in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Unlaub of Dumas; two grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. The family will be at 113 Chelsea. "Pot" Mesneak, 73, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Tunis Schuurman, pastor, and the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mesneak was born in Dewey, Okla. An Army veteran of World War II, he lived in the Borger area for 49 years. He was a retired stillman with Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. He married June Hines in 1947 at Sedan, Kan. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Mesneak of Fritch and Rodney Mesneak of Borger; a sister, Edith Crevier of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A.V. Lowrie WELLINGTON - A.V. Lowrie, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Adams officiating, assisted by Charley Uselton, Mr. Lowrie's nephew. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Lowrie was born in Wheeler County and attended school in Wheeler. A longtime resident of Wellington, he was a farmer. Mr. Lowrie was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Master Mason, Deputy Grand Master, a Royal Arch Mason, a Royal and Select Mason and a member of Commandery, of Knights Templar, and all of the York Rite. He belonged to First United Methodist Church and its Pinkston Sunday School Class. He married Erma Lee Gunstream in 1936 at Dodson. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Knight of Quanah; a sister, Alice Faye Wilkins of Amarillo; a brother, Joe Lowrie of Crosbyton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Evalena Maple FRITCH - Evalena Maple, 83, of Amarillo, formerly of Fritch, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fellowship Baptist Church in Borger with the Rev. Mike Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Maple was born in Aubrey and had lived in the Borger area since 1929. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She married Fred Maple. He died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Waudell Maple of Pueblo, Colo.; a daughter, Monnie Dillard of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Winnie Spears Bartley TULIA - Winnie Spears Bartley, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church with Ted Ray Bartley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Bartley was born in Boswell, Okla. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University. A teacher, she was employed by Wilson Independent School District for 22 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Newman N. Bartley in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley B. Rhoades of Tulia; two sons, Jerry O. Bartley of Lubbock and Ted J. Bartley of Tulia; a sister, Lois Jaynes of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Otis Spears of Roswell, N.M., and Wayne Spears of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Jewel Vise Holloman WHEELER - Jewel Vise Holloman, 96, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Wheeler. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Wellington by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Holloman was born in Henderson. A 26-year resident of Wheeler, she lived in Taylor from 1949 until 1972, where she was a hospital volunteer. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler. She married Jennings Bryan Holloman in 1920 at Wellington. He died in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Pollack of Glen Arm, Mich.; a sister, Opal Harper of Lubbock; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Wheeler Public Library. Amarillo Myrtle M. Maddox Myrtle M. Maddox, 75, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mrs. Maddox was born in Noble, Okla. In 1949, she moved from Mangum, Okla., to Amarillo. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist. She married Arn Lee Maddox in 1939. He died in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Smith and Mary Ann Bynum, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Shirley Beck and Carolyn Sue Pace, both of Indianapolis; four brothers, Leroy Taylor of Amarillo, Ed Taylor of Anacoco, La., Frank Taylor of Carrollton and Bobby Taylor of Columbus, Miss.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. R.L. Maxey R.L. Maxey, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Rosendo De Los Santos officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum East. Mr. Maxey was born in Detroit, Texas. He moved from Oklahoma to Amarillo in 1948. He retired after 30 years as a shipping clerk with Graham Plow. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He married Eloisa Elizondo in 1948 at Paris, Texas. Mr. Maxey was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Lee Maxey and Donald Maxey. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Roy Maxey of Palestine, Jimmy Maxey of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Albert Meyer of Muskogee, Okla.; two daughters, Judy Johnson of Panama City, Fla., and Terry De Los Santos of Lake Tanglewood; three sisters, Willie Mae Gouge of Redlands, Calif., Frankie Cornellson and Dorothy Beard, both of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Julie Denise Root Julie Denise Root, one-year-old daughter of Tabatha Ann Root and John Randy Butler of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Services and burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, Riverside, Calif. Julie was born in Barstow, Calif. She moved to Amarillo with her family in February. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in the Post Cemetery at Fort Sill. Mr. Ponder was born in Pasadena, Calif. A veteran of World War II, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1941, retiring from the renamed U.S. Air Force in 1964. During the mid-1960s, he worked for Amarillo's KGNC-TV. In 1968, Mr. Ponder moved to Lawton, where he worked for the civil service at Fort Sill as a film producer and director, designing Army training films. He was a member of the Wichita Wildlight Photographic Society and the Evening Optimist Club. He married Eleonore A. "Jerry" Zdrzalek in 1955 at Frankfurt, Germany. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Virginia Gell of San Diego, Calif. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wichita Wildlight Photographic Society or the Evening Optimist Club. Elsewhere Margaret C. Tuttle SAN MARCOS - Margaret C. "Peggy" Tuttle, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pennington Funeral Home. Private interment will follow at San Marcos City Cemetery. Mrs. Tuttle was born in Webb County. For more than 25 years, she worked for the San Marcos Daily Record and with her husband at Tuttle Lumber Co. She was active in the Episcopal Church. She married James C. "Jim" Tuttle. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Longest of Amarillo and San Marcos; a brother, Ruben Cook of Vienna, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity. Jimmie Dorman Johnson AMHERST - Jimmie Dorman Johnson, 63, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Johnson was born at Amherst. He was a Navy veteran. He was a deacon and an active member of Amherst Church of Christ. He married Minnie Peel in 1955 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Johnson of Amherst; two daughters, Lavonne Scroggins of Amherst and LaNita Silman of Amarillo; and six grandchildren.
