Miss Story was born in Amarillo and had lived here for the past 20 years. She worked as a salad girl at Furr's Cafeteria. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. Survivors include her father, Wesley Story of Woodward, Okla.; her mother, Bonnie Brown of Woodward; three brothers, Gene Karn, Tracy Karn and Jimmy Brown, all of Woodward; three sisters, Stephenie McDonald of Oklahoma City, Dawn Scheuerman of Great Bend, Kan., and Eva Smith of Woodward; and grandmother, Velma Luetta Frank of Amarillo. Ardith Elma MacMillian Ardith Elma MacMillian, 84, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field of Southeast Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mrs. MacMillian was born in Denison, Iowa. She lived in Omaha before moving to Fremont, Neb. She moved to Amarillo in 1952. Mrs. MacMillian was a dietitian at the original Northwest Texas Hospital. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Romona M. Heizer of Amarillo; two sons, Gary MacMillian and Robert MacMillian, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4430 Lipscomb. McWright Jolley TECUMSEH, Okla. - Irma L. McWright Jolley, 88, a former resident of Amarillo, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Brent Tevebaugh officiating. Arrangements are by Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla. Mrs. Jolley was born in Kirkland, Texas. She worked at Smith's Shoe Store in Pampa and at Kline's in Amarillo. She retired in 1969 and moved to Tecumseh seven years ago. She was a member of First Christian Church in Shawnee and the Order of Eastern Star. Her first husband, William McWright, died in 1965. Her second husband, John Jolley, died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Irma Jean Amerson of Tecumseh; two sisters, Bivian Hager and Grace Sweeney, both of Odessa; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Kathryn Helen Quinlan Hughes BOISE CITY, Okla. - Kathryn Helen Quinlan Hughes, 92, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. today in Kenton Cemetery with the Rev. David George officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Hughes was born in No Man's Land, Beaver County, Oklahoma Territory. Her family members were pioneers in the area. In 1911, she moved with her family to Peacock Canyon, west of Kenton, in wagons. Mrs. Hughes and her husband lived on various ranches along the Cimarron for several years. In 1943, they purchased the Wade Burnett Ranch near Boise City where they lived until 1979. She had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1983 and was a member of a canasta group. She married Virgil Hughes in 1932. Mr. Hughes died in 1979. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Hood of Boise City; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials, which may be left in care of the mortuary, be to Camp Billy Joe. Elsewhere Ralph B. House UNION, S.C. - Ralph B. House, 77, died Friday, June 5, 1998 in Las Vegas. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Grace United Methodist Church with military rites. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home of Union, S.C. Mr. House was born in Akron, Ohio. He was a Marine veteran of World War II, having served in the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a retired cattle rancher. He married Mary Leona Eldridge, who preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Joan Martin of Union, Jane Miller of Foster City, Calif., and Carol Kidd of Alma, Ark.; a son, Torin House of Las Vegas; a sister, Ruby Smith of Mitchell, Neb.; two brothers, Rollen House of Berwyn, Ill., and Floyd House of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Betty Joan Martin at 104 W. South St., Union, S.C., 29379. Hallie Roberts LUBBOCK - Hallie Roberts, 86, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Sutton and the Rev. Clarence Caywood officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock. Mrs. Roberts was born in Frisco. With her husband, she operated Coins of Cactus Alley and coin shows. She was a member of South Plains Numismatic Society and Calvary Baptist Church. She married John A. Roberts in 1929 at Shallowater. He died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Brown of Lubbock; two sons, Dan Roberts of Meadow and Jerry Roberts of Hereford; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Building Fund or the Remodeling Fund. Area Ollie Vaughan BORGER - Ollie Vaughan, 90, of Borger, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery at Quanah with the Rev. Jimmy Pugh, retired Baptist minister of Wichita Falls, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Searcy, Ark. She was a longtime resident of Hardeman County and had been a Borger resident since 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Quanah. She married James Bennie Vaughan in 1924 at Hardeman County. He died in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Avis Smith of Dumas; four grandsons; and several great-grandchildren. The family will be at the Avis Smith home, four miles north of Dumas. Ralph H. Baxter Sr. PAMPA - Ralph H. Baxter Sr., 75, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Central Baptist Church with Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Baxter was born in Texola, Okla., and moved to Pampa in 1939 from Lefors. He had been a building contractor in Pampa for 51 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Jimmie Enloe in 1941 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sherryl Ryan of Houston; three sons, Jerry Baxter of Garland, Kenneth Baxter of Vernon and Ralph Baxter Jr. of The Colony; a sister, Alene Stroup of Mineola; four brothers, George Baxter of Borger, Ruel Baxter of Stillwater, Okla., Floyd Baxter of Pampa and Boyd Baxter of Lelia Lake; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Central Baptist Church Building Fund. Eldon Dee Walker PLAINVIEW - Eldon Dee Walker, 91, died Sunday, June 7, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glendell Smith, chaplain for Baptist St. Anthony's Health System of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah. Mr. Walker was born in Cross Plains. He began the life of a cowboy at age 13 and for the next 22 years worked on area ranches and competed in rodeos. After his marriage, he lived on the PK Ranch near Dumont and the Double U Ranch at Post. In 1948, Mr. Walker moved to Guthrie where he was a heavy equipment operator for the state of Texas. He moved to Floydada in the early 1950s and to Plainview in 1958. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Hale County Precinct 1. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He married Gladys Opal Thompson in 1941 at Dumont. She died in February. Survivors include a daughter, Jerry Estes of Bay City; three sons, Jackie Walker of Bradley, Ark., Coy Walker of Plainview and Troy Walker of Dumas; two brothers, Elbert Walker of Jayton and Loyd Walker of Abilene; a sister, Aleta Moore of Abilene; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Z.R. Sinks PAMPA - Z.R. "Buddy" Sinks, 68, a former resident of Amarillo, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Sinks was born in Vernon. He moved to Pampa in 1989. He was a truck driver and a former member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include two sons, Michael Hugh Sinks of Pampa and Jackie Dale Sinks of Wichita Falls; a sister, Zola Tipton of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Spud Murphy PLAINVIEW - Spud Murphy, 80, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church with Aubrey Chapman and John Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Murphy was born and raised in Quanah. He graduated from Quanah High School. He moved to Plainview in 1950 where he managed three movie theaters, the Granada, Fair and Twin-View. Mr. Murphy moved to Lubbock in 1970 and was employed by Holland Gardens. In 1972, he returned to Plainview and was a deputy sheriff. He worked as a bailiff for the 64th District Court from 1980 until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Murphy was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 709. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Mona Faye Burch in 1938 at Plainview. She died in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Laurent of Denver and Kaye Phillips of Plainview; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mary Margaret Ooley SPEARMAN - Mary Margaret Ooley, 79, died Monday, June 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m Thursday in Union Church with the Rev. Steve Rogers of Plainview officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Ooley was born in Plainview and had lived in Spearman for 65 years. She was a homemaker and member of Spearman Union Church. She married Hershel Ooley in 1935 at Perryton. He died in 1995. Survivors include three sons, Jim Ooley and Richard Ooley, both of Spearman, and Pat Ooley of Atascadero, Calif.; three daughters, Edith Cage of Bowie, Hershelene Turner of Gruver and Marilee Bulls of Carrollton; a sister, Adalyn Barnes of Spearman; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
