Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dale Pearson and Paul Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Pierce was born in Tarrant County. She had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 55 years. She married "Lum" Pierce in 1920 at Wheeler. He died in 1938. She also was preceded in death by a son, J.C. Pierce, in 1963. Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker and a volunteer for many years at Amarillo Senior Citizens. She was a member of Northridge Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, L.C. Pierce of Amarillo and Arthur Leroy Pierce of Kennewick, Wash.; a daughter, Mary Waggoner of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. The family requests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home or the Gideons. Forrest V. Barnes Forrest V. Barnes, 74, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Garrett of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Barnes was born in San Antonio and had been a resident of Amarillo since the early 1960s. He was a manager for a wholesale beverage company in Amarillo for many years. He was a Mason, a Baptist and a member of the Khiva Temple of the Shrine. He also was a member of Tascosa Country Club. Survivors include a daughter, Lyn Barnes Like of San Antonio; a stepson, Larry Rackley of Downey, Calif.; a brother, William "Bill" Barnes of San Antonio; and a grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Oklahoma Viva Margie Voyles GUYMON, Okla. - Viva Margie Voyles, 75, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Panhandle Bible Center with Fred Edmiston officiating. Burial be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Voyles was born in Hardesty. She attended Hardesty schools and graduated in 1943. She was a member of Panhandle Bible Center. She worked at GTE Telephone as a operator for more than 40 years before retiring in 1986. She was preceded in death by two husbands, John D. Voyles and Jim Korshund. Survivors include a son, Mike Voyles of Hardesty; three sisters, Reida Mae Puttroff of Kansas City, Mo., June Carter of Oklahoma City and Cloanna McKean of Warren, Ohio; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-granddaughter. New Mexico Gene Oglesby TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Gene Oglesby, 71, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. John Scholz officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Oglesby was born in Dalhart, Texas, and had been a longtime resident of the Tucumcari area. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad, where he worked several years as a conductor. He was a lifetime member of Tucumcari Elks Lodge No. 1172. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; four sons, Gene Oglesby of Tucson, Ariz., Joe Baker of Las Vegas, N.M., Ernie Baker of Tucumcari and Craig Oglesby; a daughter, Eddith Aguilar of Santa Fe; a son, Jim Oglesby of Farmington; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The body will be available at the funeral home until service time. Jacobo Jaramillo TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Jacobo Jaramillo, 83, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dunn Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery, north of Tucumcari on State Highway 104. Mr. Jaramillo was born in Trementina and had been a resident of the Tucumcari community since 1951. He was a retired rancher and farmer. He was a member of the Spanish Presbyterian Church at Trementina before moving to Tucumcari. He was preceded in death by his wife, Perfecta, in 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Marcia Blea and Lucille Andrada, both of Tucumcari, and Rose Jaramillo of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Ruben Jaramillo of Tucumcari; a brother, Jose Jaramillo of Ogden, Utah; two sisters, Cordellia Sanchez and Serbana Sanchez, both of Las Vegas, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time Wednesday. Elsewhere Barbara June Chapman Caldwell MIDLAND - Barbara June Chapman Caldwell, 62, a former resident of Shamrock and McLean, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church at Watonga, Okla. Burial will be in Watonga. Mrs. Caldwell retired from the Midland Independent School District in 1995 after several years of teaching. Survivors include her husband, Russell L.; two sons, Mark C. Caldwell of Shamrock and Michael K. of Meeker, Okla.; and six grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702. Jose S. Fajardo PUEBLO, Colo. - Dr. Joseph Sena Fajardo, 56, a former Amarillo resident, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph by Robert Carden, celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors. Mr. Fajardo was born in Santa Rosa, N.M., and moved to Amarillo in 1959, after serving in the Army. He moved to Colorado in 1962. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in Spanish communications and Hispanic culture. He earned a doctor's degree in anthropology in 1996 also from the University of Colorado. He taught at Aims Community College at Greeley, Colo., for 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann; a son, Jeff Fajardo of Denver; two daughters, Anna Fajardo and Ramona Sandoval, both of Denver; his mother, Alice F. Romero of Amarillo; stepfather, Richard Romero of Amarillo; four sisters, Esther Contreras, Frances Gutierrez, Julie Guerra and Patricia Olvera, all of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. S.S. Prichard LUBBOCK - S.S. Prichard, 100, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon with the Rev. Gale Bowen officiating. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Prichard was born in DeKalb County, Tenn., and moved to Lubbock in 1922. He graduated from Sunset High School and Bowie Commercial College. He married Carrie Scott in 1936 at Amarillo. She died in 1993. Mr. Prichard was the owner of Prichard Furniture Store in Friona until retiring. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was one of the first members of the Horn Bible Class there. Survivors include a son, Sterling Prichard of Lubbock; a daughter, Lecia Foust of Decatur, Ala.; and four grandchildren. Lanita Hawkins VERNON - Lanita Hawkins, 67, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Derrell Patterson and Jenifer Renfro officiating. Arrangements are by Sullivan Funeral Home. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Peniel. She moved to Chillicothe in 1947 and to Vernon in 1948. She retired from Waggoner National Bank as a public relations representative in 1994. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Red River Valley Museum Guild and the Yamparika Club. She married Dean Raines in 1950. He died in 1977. She married Paul Hawkins in 1979. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Paula Golden of College Station; a son, Steve Raines of Denton; her stepmother, Jane McBride of Celeste; a stepdaughter, D'Yon Butler of Lubbock; a stepson, David Hawkins of Lubbock; a sister, Norma Coker of Panorama Village; and nine grandchildren. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to First United Methodist Church of Vernon, Red River Valley Museum or the VRJC scholarship fund. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Area Babe Leach WELLINGTON - Lena Mae "Babe" Leach, 93, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James McLeod, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Leach was born in Johnson County and had lived in Wellington since 1911. She had been employed as an operator for the telephone company for 10 years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and First Baptist Church. She married Hubert Leach in 1941 at Childress. He died in 1980. Survivors include four nieces and three nephews. The family requests memorials be to Wellington Cemetery Association. Lopez Hauck MCLEAN - Lopez Hauck, 88, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Lamb Funeral Home. Mrs. Hauck was born in Grand Saline. She moved to McLean from Clarendon in 1951. She received a bachelor's degree from what is now West Texas A&M University. She retired as a teacher for the Alanreed school district. She married Lawrence F. Hauck in 1940 at Alice. He died in 1993. Mrs. Hauck was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Goodman of Fort Worth; two sons, Don Hauck and David Hauck, both of McLean; a sister, Charlsey Scribner of Olton; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Angie Freeman PAMPA - Angie Freeman, 76, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, in Amarillo, with the Rev. Leif Hasskarl of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Freeman was born in Paris, Ark. She moved from Illinois to Amarillo in the early 1970s. She moved to Pampa in 1993. She married James Freeman in 1941 near Paris. He died in 1993. Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pampa. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Shipman and Jamee McCarty, both of Pampa; a sister, Bernice Haddox of Victorville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 417 Red Deer in Pampa. They request memorials be to Zion Lutheran Church. Leona Pearl Yancey SILVERTON - Leona Pearl Yancey, 71, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jess Little and Ted Kingery, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Yancey was born in Kerens. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Elzie Yancey in 1941 at Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death. She married Willard Vardell in 1975 at Clovis. Mrs. Yancey also was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Archer in 1984 and Marsha Green in 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Masey of Slaton, and Dorothy Martin and Brenda Jasper, both of Silverton; two brothers, Homer Ragland of Lockney and Jack Ragland of Odessa; three sisters, Melba Austin of Plainview, Betty Morrison of Kress and Billie Schacher of Lockney; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a friend, Willard Vardell of Silverton.
