Mr. O'Dell was the retired owner and operator of J.W. Frame and Front End Service. After his retirement, he was a shuttle driver for Westgate Chevrolet. James Monroe Bobbitt James Monroe Bobbitt, 83, of Eads, Colo., formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998. Price Funeral Directors of Levelland. Mr. Huffman was born in Jean. He moved to Maple in 1946 from Young County and moved to Sundown in 1953. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served with the coast artillery of the Fourth Army. Mr. Huffman was a retired pumper for Texico. He served two terms on the Sundown City Council and was a member of the Sundown Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Sundown Senior Golfers and First Baptist Church. He married Adean Nicholson in 1942 at Newcastle. Survivors include his wife; a son, Don Huffman of Lufkin; three daughters, Glinda Rusk of Amarillo, Linda Stafford of Temple and Nancy Gunn of Levelland; a brother, Ray Huffman of Alvin; a sister, Shirley Hartsell of Watauga; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was a supervisor for GATX Logistics in Dallas. He married Norma Thomas in 1979 in Abernathy. New Mexico William Romus Flowers Jr. CLOVIS, N.M. - William Romus Flowers Jr., infant son of William and Virginia Fallis Flowers, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998. Miss Munoz was born in Muleshoe, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Clovis. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1987. A member of Parkland Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher for third and fourth grades. Survivors include her parents, Fidencio and Lillie Cardenas of Clovis; a brother, Jesus Cardenas of Santa Fe; and a sister, Gloria Olp of Clovis. Nita Ball TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Nita Ball, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Fred Caton officiating. Burial will follow in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Ball was born in Clayton. She was raised in Dalhart, Texas, and had lived in Tucumcari since 1945. She and her husband, Paul, owned and operated the Ball Blossom Floral Shop and Photography Studio for many years. Mrs. Ball was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990. Survivors include a son, Howard Ball of Clovis; a daughter, Sarah Sue Schmidt of Kearny, Neb.; a sister, Fern Orbison of Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Stella Garza CLOVIS, N.M. - Stella Garza, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Garza was born in Fort Sumner. She married Catarino J. Garza in 1940 in Fort Sumner. They moved to Clovis in 1964. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Garza was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 25 and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; a son, Loy Garza in 1997; a daughter, Gloria Garcia; and four grandchildren. Oklahoma Mildred Raines EDMOND, Okla. - Mildred Raines, 87, of Edmond, a former Hooker resident, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church at Hooker with the Rev. Irvin Stanke officiating. Burial was in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Raines was born in Iuka, Kan. She attended school in Hooker and was raised on the family farm. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Hooker and worked in the nursery at the church for many years. She worked as a cook and baker for the Hooker Public School lunch room for 25 years. She married George A. Raines in 1932 at Beaver. He died in 1960. Survivors include two sons, Gary Raines of Grapeland, Texas and Verlan Raines of Edmond; five daughters, Georgiana Brown of Edmond, Donna Yocum of Alice, Texas, Barbara Feist of Willis, Texas, Linda Connell of Topeka, Kan., and Dottie Higdon of Amarillo; three sisters, Cleo Hammonds of Coats, Kan., Mary Myers and Francis Light, both of Liberal, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. "Joe" Casey, 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery in Muleshoe, Texas, with the Rev. Gene Hawkins, interim pastor of First Baptist Church of Ralls, Texas, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Casey was born in Abilene, Texas, and graduated from Haskell High School. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He farmed in the Muleshoe area and was a painter and carpenter in Dimmitt, Texas, for many years. He moved to Tecumseh after retiring. He married Rae Catoe in Dimmitt in 1979. Survivors include four sons, Grady Casey of Bethel Acres, Richard Catoe of Dimmitt, Paul Catoe of Eastland, Texas, and Alex Catoe of Hamilton, Texas; three daughters, Rhea Lyn Newton of Ralls, Marty Catoe of Albuquerque, N.M., and Patti Lohn of The Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Beverly Page of Clovis, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Area Jerry M. Tucker TULIA - Jerry M. Tucker, 69, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ernie McGaughey, a retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. James Willborn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Tucker was born and raised in Tulia. He graduated from Tulia High School. He married Flo Billington in 1947 at Tulia. After their marriage, they moved to Amarillo. He worked for International Harvester, Forrester Truck Co. and King Trailer more than 10 years, where he was a parts manager. He and his wife returned to Tulia and he was the owner of J&L Auto Parts Store from 1972-1990. He also farmed for Daryl Tucker after his retirement in 1992. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ruthie Tucker of Amarillo; a son, Walter Tucker of Tulia; two sisters, Ludene Grush of Moreland, Okla., and Jeanette Poole of Amarillo; four brothers, Ted Tucker of Mesa, Ariz., Valton Tucker of Vivian, La., Jan Tucker of Winlock, Wash., and Tem Tucker of Amarillo. Carl Caperton HEREFORD - Carl "Pee Wee" Caperton, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock. Mr. Caperton was born in Woodson and was a longtime resident of Hereford. He married Elizabeth Burrell in 1937. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had owned and operated Caperton Paving Co. in Hereford for many years. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1984, and by a daughter, Carla, in 1987. Survivors include three sons, Philip Caperton of Lubbock, Doug Caperton of Hereford and Sam Caperton of South Bend; two daughters, Carlette Gray of Graham and Wiletha Bell of Kimball, Neb.; a sister, Fan Treadwell of Red Oak, La.; 19 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. Grady Scott CANYON - Grady Scott, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the southern Philippines, New Guinea and Papua. He married Wanda Louis Pierson in 1951 in Abilene. Mr. Scott retired from the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5681. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Orcutt was born in Bowlzora. She married Elam Orcutt in 1934 in Lakeview. She was a cook for the Memphis Lions Club and Memphis Rotary Club for many years. Mrs. Orcutt was a member of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Gus Orcutt, in 1992. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bettye Ferrel of Memphis; two sisters, Estell Davidson of Quitaque and Murell Shackleford of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Nadine Bobbitt CLARENDON - Nadine Laramore Bobbitt, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Bobbitt was born in Hedley and had lived in Clarendon since 1938. She married Hardy Graham Bobbitt in 1932 in Claude. She was retired, having worked as a cashier at Tunnell Pharmacy, which later became Bivens Pharmacy, for 30 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Clarendon Church of Christ. Mrs. Bobbitt was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Putman of Clarendon; two sons, Buddy Bobbitt of Memphis and Emmett Bobbitt of Hobbs, N.M.; two sisters, Maciel Knierim of Fort Worth and Opal Willis of Claude; eight grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Horton was born in Stephenville and grew up in Sylvester and Merkel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview. She married Vernon Horton in 1930 in Clayton, N.M. Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Stanley Barrow. Survivors include two daughters, Choice Yvonne Barrow of Dalhart and Tommye Sue Allen of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Billy Graham Crusade. Jack Phillips DARROUZETT - Jack Herschel Phillips, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Darrouzett Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Phillips was born in Logan, Okla. He graduated from Booker High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Phillips operated a movie theater in Boise City, Okla., and later farmed in Darrouzett. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the American Legion Post 635 and Shriners. Survivors include a niece, Donna Jean Howard of Amarillo; and three nephews, Wade Phillips of Woodward, Okla., Randy Phillips of Booker and Houston Phillips of Albuquerque, N.M. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Franklin Roosevelt Bryan BOOKER - Franklin Roosevelt "Pooter" Bryan, 65, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church of Booker with the Rev. Monte Kreis officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Bryan was born in Gray, Okla., and attended school in Balko. A Marine Corps veteran, he served aboard the USS Rochester during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and the China Service Medal. After his discharge, Mr. Bryan moved to the northeastern Panhandle area where he was a truck driver for the Permian Corp. He also was a farmer. He married Barbara Peery in 1969 at Perryton. She died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Wilson of Booker and Tressa Bryan of Houston; five sisters, LaVada Adams and Dessie Lee Donaldson, both of Tucson, Ariz., Etta Mae Jones of Riverside, Calif., Louise Eastham of California and Nola Williams of Bull Head City, Ariz.; and three Grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
