Webster Ruth E. Webster, 85, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. John B. Bridwell, minister emeritus of First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Webster was born in Indian Territory. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1937. She was a Realtor and had been an office manager for Hugo Loewenstern Co. for more than 50 years. She played the violin in the 1940s with the Amarillo Symphony. She was a member of the Amarillo Symphony Guild. She was Presbyterian. Mrs. Webster was preceded in death by her husband, Van Webster, in 1958. There are no known survivors. Ora Wayne Yocom Ora Wayne Yocom, 80, of Westminster, Colo., a former Amarillo resident, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Claud Tugwell, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Yocom was born in St. Jo. She was a longtime Amarillo resident. She worked for Bivins Nursing Home for more than 20 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Yocom. Survivors include two sons, Jim Yocom of Thornton, Colo., and David Yocom; four grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Ruth Arzetta Williams Ruth Arzetta Williams, 85, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Canadian. She was a homemaker. She married Carl F. Williams in 1952 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1996. Survivors include a son, Jim Rowley of Henderson, Nev.; two daughters, Wanda Arledge of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Betty Hoyne of Mexia; a brother, Sam Vandiver of Amarillo; two sisters, Modell Andrews of Canadian and Jo Westbrook of Hobbs, N.M.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, Texas 79101. New Mexico Ray O. Hill CLOVIS, N.M - Ray O. Hill, 80, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Chapel with Frank Poynor and Marlin Poynor officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mr. Hill was born in Rising Star, Texas, and was raised near Levelland, Texas. He attended schools at Center, Texas, where he played basketball in high school. He worked at Hughes Aircraft in California before moving to Portales and working at Portales Valley Mills. In 1951, he and John Burroughs, owner of the peanut mill, formed a partnership and purchased a cotton gin in LaVernia, Texas, which they converted to process peanuts. Mr. Hill moved there to run the plant and soon bought Mr. Burroughs' interest in the operation. He also purchased several peanut farms in the area. While living in LaVernia, Mr. Hill was active in the community, serving on the school board and working with the local chamber of commerce and the Boy Scouts. In 1958, he sold his holdings and moved back to Portales. For several years, he was an independent peanut broker. He and Lex Williams owned and operated a peanut mill in the Bethel community for a number of years. In about 1974, he became a farm management instructor at the Community College in Tucumcari. In 1977, he moved to Clovis, where he taught farm management at the Eastern New Mexico University Clovis campus until his retirement. Mr. Hill was an active member of the Church of Christ. He also was active in the Clovis Senior Citizens. He married Juanita Townsend in 1941 at Yuma, Ariz. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by a son, Michael James Hill, in 1981. Survivors include a son, Larry Hill of Amarillo; two daughters, Betty Kizer of Clovis and Suzy Ray of Midland, Texas; a sister, Ruby Davis of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing until service time. Sybil G. Klimek CLOVIS, N.M. - Sybil G. Klimek, 75, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Mrs. Kilmek was born in Coln Street Aldwyn, England, and had lived in Clovis since 1960. She married Marion J. Klimek in 1952 at Coln Street Aldwyn. She was a member of Kingswood Methodist Church, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She also was a life member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association Auxiliary. Survivors include several nephews and nieces all of England. Lawana Hill McCarter TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Lawana Hill McCarter, 60, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Ketterling officiating. Mrs. McCarter was raised in the Progress, Texas, area and had been a resident of Tucumcari for several years. She was a Methodist. Survivors include three children, James McCarter of Kerens, Texas, Misty Norman of Alva, Okla., and Melissa Watkins of San Angelo, Texas; a brother, Martin Hill of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Garden Grove, Calif., and Jody Miller of Farmington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Loyd Webb Thatcher CLOVIS, N.M. - Loyd Webb Thatcher, 80, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Texico Cemetery at Texico with the Rev. Warren McKibben officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Thatcher was born in Wetumka, Okla., and had been a Clovis resident since 1984. Martha Ann Perryman CLAYTON, N.M. - Martha Ann Perryman, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dido Cemetery in Tarrant County, Texas, with Dr. Charles H. Sanders, associate minister of University Christian Church in Fort Worth, Texas, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Perryman was born in Dido. She attended public school in Dido and Fort Worth. She also attended the College of Industrial Arts, which is now Texas Woman's University. She worked for Sinclair Oil Co. in Fort Worth. At the time of her retirement, she worked for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mrs. Perryman was active in University Christian Church and the All Saints Hospital Auxiliary in Fort Worth, where she was a longtime resident before moving to Clayton in 1997. She married C.W. "Jack" Perryman in 1950 at Fort Worth. He died in 1954. Survivors include a nephew, W.H. Cantrell of Clayton. The family requests memorials be to Union County General Hospital or a favorite charity. Oklahoma Miona Vemeda Clift REYDON, Okla. - Miona Vemeda Clift, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Reydon Community Building with Randy Allen officiating. Burial will be in White Rose Cemetery by Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne. Mrs. Clift was born in Dixie, Ark., and attended school there. She married Elston Charles Clift in 1943 at Paragould, Ark. They moved to Reydon and later to Pampa, Texas. They returned to Reydon in 1957. Mrs. Clift was a member of Reydon Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include six daughters, Bobbie Sue Parker, Jeannette Lermon and Jean Adams, all of Amarillo, Charlotte Cooper of Wheeler, Texas, Peggy Gettle of Reydon and Helen Yandell of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Dorothy Wheeler of Elk City; two brothers, David Crockett of Joplin, Mo., and Billy Dan Crockett of St. Charles, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hammons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Wilson, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Amherst, officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor was born in Pearsell. She married Earl Taylor in 1936 at Clovis, N.M. They farmed and ranched in Causey, N.M., before moving to Dimmitt in 1955 and to Spearman in 1968. They moved to Littlefield in 1980 and to Austin in 1988. Mr. Taylor died in 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Austin. Survivors include a daughter, Earlyne Gee of Austin; three brothers, John Lippard of Knox City, Calvin Lippard of Iowa Park and Sam Lippard of Delta, Colo.; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Minnie M. Pennington WELLINGTON, Kan. - Minnie M. Pennington, 99, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Frank Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Pennington was born in Dyer County, Tenn. She moved to Amarillo in 1922 and married Bones Hooks, noted cowboy and Amarillo civic leader. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by another husband, Manzie Pennington. She lived in Amarillo from 1922 to 1937 and again from 1940 to 1950, when she moved to Wellington. Mrs. Pennington was a homemaker and a member of Friendly Second Baptist Church of Wellington. She had lived in the Cedar View Good Samaritan's Care Center since 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Georgia Fox of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Area Jess Douglas Burnam QUANAH - Jess Douglas Burnam, 79, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. John Spangler of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Burnam was born in Childress and raised in Chillicothe. He had lived in Hardeman County for many years. He married Sylva Dell Johnston in 1956. She died in 1994. Mr. Burnam was a retired mechanic and service station operator. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Douglas Burnam of Steger, Ill.; two daughters, Kathy Tippett of Homewood, Ill., and Betty Jo Burnam of California; two brothers, Earl Burnam of Fort Worth and Bill Burnam of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Edna Francis of Austin; and a stepdaughter, Anita Wooten of Quanah. Lucille Hutchins HEREFORD - Lucille Hutchins, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon. She moved to Deaf Smith County from Canyon. Survivors include two sons, John Ed Hutchins of Yuma, Ariz., and David Hutchins of Houston; a daughter, Barbra Mantooth of Houston; four brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Bill Carmichael of San Antonio and Kenneth Carmichael of Aurora, Mo.; a daughter, Shari Carmichael James of San Antonio; a sister, Robbie Griffin of Toledo Bend; a brother, D.L. Carmichael of Friona; nine grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Tomasa Cuellar HEREFORD - Tomasa Cuellar, 86, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Mitchell John Malouf Jr. PLAINVIEW - Mitchell John Malouf Jr., 66, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1997. He graduated from Post High School in 1949 and from Hardin-Simmons University in 1953. He coached football in Eunice, N.M., Kermit and Big Spring. He moved to Plainview in 1960. He was a retired farmer and was named Outstanding Young Farmer in 1964. He was a past member of the Plainview school board and a current member of the Hardin-Simmons University President's Club and the Cowboy Club. Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Riggs of Plainview, Melinda Mantooth of Lubbock and Melody Malouf of Amarillo; a son, Mitchell Malouf III of Midland; two brothers, John Malouf of Lubbock and Buddy J. Gladys Opal Walker PLAINVIEW - Gladys Opal Walker, 79, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe P. Weldon, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah. Mrs. Walker was born in Russellville, Ala., and moved to Dumont at an early age. She graduated from Dumont High School. She married Eldon Dee Walker in 1941 at Dumont. She lived on the PK Ranch near Dumont and on the W Ranch at Post. She was a cook for the cowboys on both ranches. Mrs. Walker moved to Guthrie and then to Floydada in the 1950s. She moved to Plainview in 1958 and worked for the Plainview school cafeteria for 14 years. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jerry Estes of Bay City; three sons, Jackie Walker of Bradley, Ark., Coy Walker of Plainview and Troy Walker of Dumas; four sisters, Annie Sue Hollar and Viola Slover, both of Paducah, Beatrice Smith of Matador and Bessie Lee Read of Graham; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. E.G. Carter DALHART - E.G. Carter, 79, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Everett Statler, pastor, and Dr. Steve McMeans, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Carter was born and raised in Dalhart. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1938. He married Geraldine Jones in 1941. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. He owned and operated Carter Motor Co. until 1960. In 1968, he became municipal judge and Dallam County Justice of the Peace. He retired from the municipal judge office in 1982 and from the justice of the peace office in 1987. He also had served on the city council. Mr. Carter was a 50-year Mason and a member of First Baptist Church and the Ambassador Club. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Ricketson of Dalhart and Julie White of Hartley; three sons, Don Carter of Midland, and David Carter and Eddie Carter, both of Dalhart; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mildred A. Miller Hamilton WHEELER - Mildred A. Miller Hamilton, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ with Bill Morrison, minister, and the Rev. Andy Taylor of Sayre, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Caddo, Okla. She married Novis Cecil Hamilton in 1933 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1952. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger R. Taylor, in 1950. She moved to Wheeler in 1952. She was a homemaker and a waitress. She also cleaned homes and pulled cotton. She had been a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ since 1952. Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Taylor of Wheeler, Shirley Wheatley of Leeton, Mo., and Cecil Bowers of Amarillo; two sons, Floyd Hamilton of Tucson, Ariz., and Herman Hamilton of Hamilton, Mont.; two sisters, Maurine Gilmer of Wheeler and Viola Blalock of Midland; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild.
