Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Aiken, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Mr. Martin was born in Jacksboro. He graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1929 and attended Texas Christian University, where he played football. He moved to Knoxville in 1997 from Dumas, where he had lived since 1952. Mr. Martin retired from Colorado Interstate Gas Co. in 1976 as plant superintendent. He was a Navy Seabee during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Martin; a daughter, Velta Hall of Sweetwater, Tenn.; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Lyndon Glaesman, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Brownwood and moved to Pampa in 1937. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for many years. She married Raymond Ray Hawkins in 1937 in Canon City, Colo. He died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1939. Survivors include a daughter, Lena Pearl Grantham of Garland; three brothers, Richard Rogers of Amarillo, C.B. Rogers of Pampa and R.W. Rogers of Vallejo, Calif.; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. They request memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church. Sister M. Goretti McKinnon PANHANDLE - Sister M. Goretti McKinnon, 66, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in Sancta Maria Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday in Sancta Maria by the Rev. John W. Yanta, bishop of Amarillo, and the priests of the diocese of Amarillo will act as his concelebrants. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Sister McKinnon was born in Bridgeport, Canada. She entered the convent on Jan. 6, 1950, and was received Aug. 12, 1950. Her first vows were Aug. 12, 1952, and her perpetual vows were Aug. 12, 1957. Sister McKinnon taught school at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School at Dumas from 1959 until 1961. She also taught in Borger at St. John's Catholic School from 1961 until 1972. Survivors include sisters, Sister Mary Josita of Panhandle, Teresa Tittley, Jessie Bennett and Margaret Somerton, all of Ontario, Canada, Frances McDonald of Dominion, Canada, and Alexius McDonald and Valerie Gouthro, both of Nova Scotia, Canada; and brothers, Fabian Farrell of Nova Scotia, and Daniel Farrell, Kenny Farrell and Danny Farrell, all of Ontario. Sam Houston Thompson WELLINGTON - Sam Houston Thompson, 89, a former Wellington resident, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in Gig Harbor, Wash. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wheeler, and the Rev. Brian Adams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born in Grayson County. He attended North Texas Teachers College at Denton and Edmond State Teachers College in Oklahoma before moving to Collingsworth County. In 1931 he began teaching at Dodsonville School No. 10. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served in the 21st U.S. Naval Construction Seabees Battalion as chief carpenter's mate. At the end of World War II, he returned to Wellington and worked as a farmer. From 1952 to 1972, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Thompson married Syble Camp in 1933 at Dodson. He moved to Gig Harbor in 1988. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sammie Davis and E. Jane Fraser, both of Gig Harbor; two half sisters, Evelyn Thompson of Stockdale and Bessie Thompson of Palestine; and two grandchildren. Kirby L. Hyman OLTON - Kirby L. Hyman, 87, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Olton Cemetery with the Rev. Norman Patton, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Hyman was born in Gainesville. He lived in Amarillo before moving to Runningwater Draw Care Center in Olton in 1992. He worked in the oil fields until retiring. He served with the Army during World War II as a medical technician and truck driver. He was Baptist. Mr. Hyman married Alleane Maylen in 1955 at Seminole. She died in 1990. Burial will be in Muleshoe Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Whitt, Parker County. She married Tom Smith in 1914 at Parker County. He died in 1973. Mrs. Smith moved to Hale County in 1918 and to Muleshoe in 1922. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Joe L. Smith of Cochise, Ariz.; three daughters, Marie M. Mr. Louthan was preceded in death by a daughter, Patrica L. Williams, in 1983; and by a son, Dean Louthan, this year. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mrs. McCurley was born in Elida, Roosevelt County, N.M. She moved with her family in 1927 to Foard County. She married C.H. "Hack" McCurley in 1929 at Altus, Okla. In 1930, they moved to McLean, where they farmed until Mr. McCurley's death in 1970. Mrs. McCurley worked for the McLean school district and Marie Foundations before retiring in 1975. She was active in the Wesley Adult Bible Class at United Methodist Church. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a son, Charles McCurley. Survivors include a son, Paul McCurley of Kingston, Okla.; four daughters, Texetta Tarbet of Shamrock, Martha Bailey of McLean, Lynda Butt of Clayton, N.M., and Barbara Schneider of Canyon; a sister, Jewell McCurley of McLean; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Becky Gene Walker PLAINVIEW - Becky Gene Walker, 40, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998. Ms. Walker was born in Friona and graduated from Friona High School. She attended Levelland College and San Angelo College. She moved to Plainview in 1987. She worked in the child-care industry. Mr. Ricketts was born in Greensburg, Kan. He had lived in the Spearman area for 37 years, moving from Hugoton, Kan. He served with the 32nd Infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He attended Frank Phillips College in Borger. He was a plant technician for Enron from 1955 until retiring in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Ricketts married Alma Huffmaster in 1946 at Sublette. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Gibner was born in Hansford and had been a lifetime Hansford area resident. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Lois Pryor in 1939 at Shawnee, Okla. Mr. Gibner was vice president of First State Bank in Spearman for 43 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Spearman Lions Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Hansford Lodge No. 1040 AF&AM. He was preceded in death by a son, George Thomas Gibner. Survivors include his wife; a son, Lynn Gibner of Portland, Ore; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps and taught instrument flying during World War II. He was a registered Hereford breeder in Texas and Colorado. He also was a Realtor in Kansas, Missouri and Texas. He was Catholic. Mr. Cain married Elizabeth Hagen in 1945 at Everett, Wash. She married Samuel S. Rutledge in 1940 at Floydada. Mrs. Rutledge lived in Amarillo until 1968, when she moved to Garland. Elsewhere Robert Harry Osborne Sr. WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - Robert Harry Osborne Sr., 80, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998. Cremation arrangements were by Beacon's National Cremation Society. Services were in Antigo, Wis. Mr. Osborne was born in Plaza, Ohio, and was raised in Oklahoma and Ohio. After graduating from high school, he attended trade school for two years in Chicago. He served during World War II in India. He married Agnes Wyrwas in 1941. Mr. Osborne worked for IBM for 20 years before he and his wife purchased and operated Spence's Motel in Madison, Wis., for 17 years. They retired to Lake Mills, Wis., for a few years before moving to Florida. His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Robert H. Osborne Jr. of Lake Mills; three daughters, Carol Adams of Kirksville, Mo., Jeanne Novotny of Amarillo and Karen Franks of Orlando; a sister, Helen Freeland of Corona, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. New Mexico Roy T. Lovin CLAYTON, N.M. - Roy T. Lovin, 93, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Lovin was born in Josephine, Texas. He moved to New Mexico with his family in 1916. They homesteaded 30 miles north of Clayton. Mr. Lovin farmed and ranched in the Clayton area and then in Maxwell for four years before moving back to Clayton in 1929. He married Louise Swords in 1941 at Clayton. They lived in Dalhart, Texas, and Albuquerque, where Mr. Lovin worked as a butcher. Several years before retiring in 1965, he worked for Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque. In 1972, he and his wife moved back to Clayton and have been residents of Salida del Sol Nursing Home since 1996. Mr. Lovin was a member of First Baptist Church of Clayton. Oklahoma Harold M. Wright GUYMON, Okla. - Harold M. "General" Wright, 87, died Monday, March 9, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Chaffin and the Rev. Shannon Davis of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. in Haviland Cemetery in Haviland, Kan. Mr. Wright was born in Haviland. He married Amy Patton in 1935 at Haviland. They lived in Pratt, Kan., for 20 years. Mr. Wright was associated with Woolwine Supply Co. in Pratt and was a member of the Pratt Volunteer Fire Department. In 1960, they moved to Guymon, where Mr. Wright was manager of the Woolwine's Supply Store. Since retiring, the Wrights have been active in the Panhandle Sam's Club. Mr. Wright was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and No Man's Land Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis O'Brien of Nashville, Tenn., and Peggy Carr of Tombstone, Ariz.; a son, Bruce Wright of the Sacramento, Calif., area; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
