Burial will be in Sunset Terrace by SteedTodd Funeral Home of Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Walling was born in Hillsboro and raised in Forrest, N.M. She married Milton "Mitz" Walling in 1942 at Clovis. During World War II, they lived in Wichita Falls, where Mrs. Walling worked as a secretary. They then moved to Farwell to farm. Mrs. Walling was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and helped start the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority Sisters in 1951. She was a member of First Baptist Church at Farwell. She also did volunteer work for Texas Boy's Ranch of Lubbock. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Edith Ann Walling Bradley of Clovis; a son, Milton Lee Walling of Amarillo; a brother, Pete "Jr." Gunn of Logan, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the church until service time. Myrtle Sutton Taylor LOCKNEY - Myrtle Sutton Taylor, 93, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, in Hale Center. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Taylor was born in Cado Hill and attended school in Floyd. She married Luther Milton Sutton in 1922 at De Queen, Ark. He died in 1947. She moved to Lockney in 1949 from Pittsburg. She married Thomas E. Taylor in 1972 at Lockney. He died in 1977. Mrs. Taylor retired as a cook in 1969. She was a member of Lockney Senior Citizens. She was Baptist. Survivors include a son, Milton Sutton of Plainview; three daughters, Hazel Young of Plainview, and Geneva Barclay and Gene Newton, both of Lockney; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Gonzales married Eloisa Guzman in 1980 at Hart. Walter Forrest CANADIAN - Walter Forrest, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998. He was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of the Oddfellows. Mr. Forrest married Lucille Walker in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1955. He married Ruth Fite in 1994 at Canadian. He graduated from Borger High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army for four years as an artillery captain. He landed with the 35th Division on Omaha Beach and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Mr. Fahle returned to Borger and became an independent oil producer. He retired in 1985. He was a member of First Christian Church and a past president of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Fahle married Dorothy Sawyers in 1951 at Clayton, N.M. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1962 and from West Texas State University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1974. He was a computer programmer in Dallas until retiring in 1987. She also was a home demonstration agent for Cottle, Ford and King counties. Mrs. Wall was a former member of Valley View Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Paducah. She was a member of Bolton Street Baptist Church. She married Marvin Wall in 1932 at Paducah. He died in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ted Wall, in 1977. Mrs. Ehly was a past Regent and past District Deputy of the Catholic Daughters and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Private burial will be before the services. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney. Mr. Smith was born in Floyd County, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1941 and entered the Army Air Corps, serving until 1945. He married Lucile Weast in 1943 at Tampa, Fla. He farmed in the Sterley community most of his life until retiring and moving to Ruidoso 15 years ago. Mr. Smith was the founding president of the Floyd County Historical Museum. He was a longtime elder of Main Street Church of Christ at Lockney. He was on the board of directors of Lubbock Christian University and was active in promoting the Children's Home of Lubbock. He was a former president of the Lockney school board and a past president of the Floyd County Farm Bureau. He also was a Republican National Committeeman in Texas. Sarah Mahill Allen TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Sarah Mahill Allen, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Dunn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in James Canyon Cemetery on U.S. Highway 82 about 10 miles west of Mayhill. Mrs. Allen was born in Mayhill. She graduated from Alamogordo High School and taught school at the now abandoned Russia logging camp south of Cloudcroft. In 1933, she earned a bachelor of science degree in home economics at New Mexico State University. She worked for the Farm Security Administration at Portales. She married James Loren Allen in 1937 at Clovis. In 1942, they moved to California, where she continued her education and teaching career. They lived in the Beverly Hills, Burbank and Sunland areas. They moved to Burney, Calif., in 1972. In 1982, they returned to Mayhill. They moved to Alamogordo in 1991 and to Tucumcari in 1993. Richardson EL PASO - Carl D. Richardson, 60, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2:30 (MST) today in Angus Cemetery at Ruidoso, N.M., with the Rev. Charles Hail, pastor of Angus Church of the Nazarene in Ruidoso, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Richardson was born in Muleshoe. He moved to Austin from Muleshoe in 1951. He had spent the last few years in El Paso. Survivors include a sister, Arlene Jones of Capitan, N.M. John C. Robertson HALE CENTER - John C. Robertson, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Silas Short, minister of the Church of Christ in O'Donnell, and Scott Jimenez, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Robertson was born in Gainesville. He graduated from school in Marietta, Okla. He married Venda Young in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. He had lived in Hale Center since 1950, moving from Sudan. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World. He also was a Boy Scouts of America Master. Mr. Robertson had been a Mason since 1948. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a past Master of the Lemond Lodge. He served as Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Texas District No. 96. He was a past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and received the Golden Trowel in 1992. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Johnnie Ashley of Dallas, Shirley Anderson of Garland, Jane Drake of Carrollton and Sue Dunn of Falls Church, W.Va.; four brothers, Tup Robertson, Fred Robertson and Gene Robertson, all of Marietta, and Opp Robertson of Washington; two sisters, Mary Beeler of Marietta and Dorothy London of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Ada Rose Phelps FORGAN, Okla. - Ada Rose Phelps, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forgan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Fox officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Holt Cemetery in Hutchinson County, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman, Texas. Mrs. Phelps was born in Hutchinson County. She had lived in the Forgan area since 1958, moving from Beaver. She married Robert B. Phelps in 1946 at Amarillo. He died in 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of Forgan United Methodist Church. She was an antique collector and dealer and a member of the Beaver County Historical Society. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Packard of Medicine Lodge, Kan.; two sons, Bruce Phelps of Aurora, Colo., and Derek Phelps of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Ruth Chisum of Stinnett, Texas; a brother, Doyle Jackson of Spearman; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
