Alexander Birdie Mae Alexander, 67, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998. John M. Alexander, 78, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998. Joint services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Grover Neal, pastor, and the Rev. James Mims officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes. Mrs. Alexander was born and raised in Dodge City, Kan. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 and married John Alexander. She was a retired housekeeper and attended Jan Werner Adult Day Care Center. She was a member of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Alexander was born and raised in Meridian. He moved to West Texas in 1936. He retired from Mesa Petroleum Co. in 1985 and was employed by T. Boone Pickens Jr. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He married Armentha "Mickey" Henry in 1946. He later married Birdie Mae Ryines in 1954. Survivors include four sons, David Alexander of Amarillo, Ronald Alexander of Moreno Valley, Calif., Joey Alexander of Hondo and Jerome Alexander of Kenedy; six daughters, Donna Hughes and Kim Alexander, both of Amarillo, Billie Darty and Linda Mims, both of Dallas, Wanda Williams of Natchez, Miss., and Marcia Robinson of Denver, Colo. Mrs. Alexander was also survived by a sister, Daisy Mayberry of San Bernardino, Calif., three brothers, Roy Roberts of Amarillo, Leonard "Jr." Ryines of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Glenn Boydston of Beloit, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Alexander was also survived by two sisters, Josephine Oliver of Meridian and Earnestine Davenport of Lubbock. The family will be at 1918 N.W. 20th Ave. James W. Kimbrough James W. Kimbrough, 68, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Kimbrough was born in Ballinger. He was retired as a medic in the Air Force and moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Japan. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Moose Lodge No. 1361 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Sue Sato in 1961 at Japan. Survivors include his wife and three sisters, Ann Weston of Carlsbad, N.M., Roberta Frye of Dalton, Ohio, and Cleta Dunigan of Cisco. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. New Mexico Floyd W. Mosier CLAYTON, N.M. - Floyd W. Mosier, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, in Clayton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Mosier was born in Frances, Okla. He graduated from high school in Ada, Okla., and received his degree in industrial arts and education from East Central State College in Ada. He served in the Army during World War II and began teaching industrial arts in 1948 in Sedan, N.M. He retired in 1979, having taught school in Sedan, Clayton, Folsom, Springer, Floyd and Deming. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church of Clayton. He married Frances Louise Castillo in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1962. He married Maxine Krause in 1963. She preceded him in death in July. Survivors include a son, Floyd Wayne Mosier of Clayton; two daughters, Lynda Mosier of Clayton and Nancy Naranjo of Roswell, N.M.; a stepson, Billy Krause of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Cindy Krause of Amarillo and Linda Krause Zaretsky of Los Angeles; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Rinestine TUCUMCARI, N.M. - W.H. "William" Rinestine, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Wednesday in Nara Visa Community Center Auditorium with John Wegter and Richard May officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Nara Visa Cemetery in Nara Visa by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Rinestine was born in Calhoun County, W.Va. He was a longtime Quay County resident as his family homesteaded in the Nara Visa area. He attended school in Nara Visa and finished the last two years of his formal education in Las Cruces. He married Lela Wilson in 1930 at Nara Visa. Survivors include his wife, of Clayton; two daughters, Alice Garner of Dalhart and Ruby Sandlin of Amarillo; three sons, Bill Rinestine of Dumas, Texas, John Rinestine of Amarillo and James Rinestine of Nara Visa; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Nara Visa Community Center in memory of W.H. "William" Rinestine. Elsewhere Gene A. Johnson ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Gene Arthur Johnson, 62, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Messiah Lutheran Church. Private burial will follow. Arrangements are by Paul Funeral Homes. Mr. Johnson was born in Minneapolis and had lived in the Amarillo area for many years. He was a retired electrical engineer for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co. and had served as treasurer and alderman of the city of Weldon Springs, Mo. He was a member of the Ambassadors of Harmony, St. Charles Amateur Radio Club, St. Charles Emergency Management Agency and Messiah Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Judith Speer Johnson of St. Charles; three sons, Christopher Lee Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., Anthony Gene Johnson of Shrewsbury, and Mitchell Julian Johnson of St. Louis; a sister, Delores Ankele of Richardson, Texas; and three grandchildren. Ruby Meek Strain GULF BREEZE, Fla. - Ruby Meek Strain, 83, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. No services are planned. Entombment will be in Llano Mausoleum in Amarillo. Arrangements were by Martin Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. Mrs. Strain was born in Childress and moved to Gulf Breeze 18 years ago from Shallowater. She also had lived in Amarillo and Canyon for many years. She had served with the 36th Division of the National Guard in Canyon. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Her husband, Bill Strain, preceded her in death in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Strain of Florida; a sister, Jo Don Cash of Post; and a grandson. John W. Yantis SHERMAN - John William Yantis, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in West Sherman Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Wood officiating. The family requests memorials be to West Sherman Baptist Church Building Fund. Area Emma B. Wiist TEXLINE - Emma B. Wiist, 83, of Texline, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. (CDT) today in Texline United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hestand, pastor, and the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clayton, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Wisst was born in Little Rock, Ark. She married Oscar R. Wiist in 1935 in Henrietta. She and her husband moved to the Texline area in 1947, where they farmed until 1975. She sold Avon from 1975 until 1993. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Draper Community Home Demonstration Club, Texline Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988. Survivors include two sons, Bob Wiist of Amarillo and Bill Wiist of Lakewood, Colo.; three brothers, John Hussey of Long Beach, Calif., Elmer Hussey of Benton, Ark., and William Hussey of Eureka, Calif.; a sister, Velma Wilson of Porterville, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Texline Cemetery Fund. Lidia Monarrez de Nevarez DUMAS - Lidia Monarrez de Nevarez, 65, of Dumas, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in Amarillo. Service will be at 11 a.m. today in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church celebrated by the Rev. Patrick Hoffman of St. Laurence Cathedral of Amarillo. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Home. Mrs. Nevarez was born in Pas Neves, Durango, Mexico, and had lived in Dumas for 18 months. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Nicolas Nevarez of Dumas, Alejandro Nevarez of El Paso and Ricardo Nevarez of San Antonio; three daughters, Margarita Nevarez of Los Angeles, Olga Nevarez of El Paso and Blanca Tovar of Dumas; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 801 Durrett in Dumas. Lester Leon O'Daniel BORGER - Lester Leon "Bill" O'Daniel, 78, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, in Lubbock. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gateway Baptist Church of Borger with the Rev. Tunis Schuurman of the church officiating. Cremation is by Memorial Park Crematory with arrangements by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. O'Daniel was born in Ardmore, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Okmulgee, Okla. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy. In 1982, he retired as operator for Phillips Petroleum. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. He married Modean Yocham in 1946 at Okmulgee. Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne O'Daniel of Fritch; two daughters, Kathy Miller and Kay Mills, both of Lubbock; a sister, Clara Gibson of Morris, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Herbert Olney Womack Jr. PLAINVIEW - Herbert Olney "Bud" Womack Jr., 68, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church of Plainview with Drew Travis, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Womack was born in Delhi, La. He graduated from Amarillo High School and moved to Plainview in the early 1950s. For many years, he was manager of Automotive Parts and Supply Store. He was a member of the Plainview Country Club and past member of Plainview Noon Optimist Club. He married Gwen Janice Lloyd in 1994 at Plainview. His first marriage was in 1976 to Jane Brooks Harder, who died in 1990. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tim Womack of Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepsons, Ray Harder of Amarillo and B.J. Lloyd of Marble Falls; two daughters, Juli Ann Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla., and D'Lynn McCarthy of Robbinsville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Page Trotter of Lubbock and Lisa Kersh of Plainview; three sisters, Anita Breen of Stillwater, Okla., Sara Swift of Benbrook and Linda Mulherm of Monroe, La.; a brother, Jim Womack of Monroe; three grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Presbyterian Church of Plainview. Sammie Ann Price WELLINGTON - Sammie Ann Price, 59, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. James McLeod, pastor, and the Rev. Derwin Comer, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lipscomb Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. Price was born in Lipscomb County. She moved to Wellington in 1994 from Brady where she had lived since 1971. She had been employed as a waitress and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married John Theison in 1964 at Higgins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and by a son, Wallace Brumley Jr., in 1958. Survivors include three sons, Terry Brumley and Gene Price, both of Wellington, and Silton Joe Brumley of Milton, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki Brown of Dodson and Sheri Hillis of Hollis, Okla.; two sisters, Rosie Eason of Huntsville and Elsie Russell of Midland; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church. Christine Akemon WELLINGTON - Christine "Christy" Akemon, 17, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Cantu, pastor of the Temple of the God of Hollis, Okla., and Joe Martin officiating. Burial will be in South Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Miss Akemon was born in Shamrock. She was a sophomore at Wellington High School where she was a member of the Rocket Regiment. She attended New Abundant Life Fellowship. Survivors include her parents, Garrett and Jeniva Akemon of Wellington; and two brothers, Buck Ray Akemon and Joseph Edward Miles Akemon, both of Wellington.
