Woolsey Clinton M. Woolsey, 87, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Cliff Houghten of Fairview Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Woolsey was born in Henrietta and had lived in Amarillo since 1950. In 1973, he retired from Asarco as a mechanic. He was a member of Fairview Assembly of God. He married Anna Lesley in 1930 in Sentinel, Okla. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Ray Woolsey in 1937 and Leland Woolsey in 1990; and a daughter, Annell Gross in 1996. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Delton M. Woolsey and Mike Woolsey, both of Amarillo, Nathan Woolsey of Sullivan, Ill., and Pat Woolsey of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Kathy Hildreth of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; and 26 greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice or AGAPE Home Health Care. Nell Small Kromer Nell Small Kromer, 97, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Clifford Trotter, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Kromer was born in Aberdeen. She attended school in Shamrock and Dallas and had lived in Amarillo since 1945. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Co-Workers Sunday School Class. She married Earl Hix Kromer in 1925. He preceded her in death in 1969. Survivors include three children, Charlotte Risley of Fort Worth, Karen Harrison of Houston and Keith Kromer of Adrian; six grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Polk Street United Methodist Church, 1401 S. Polk, Amarillo, TX 79101. Frank J. Warren Frank J. Warren, 94, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Howard K. Batson of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Warren was born in Amarillo and was a lifetime resident. He was president of the Brumley Foundation and a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Warren, in 1988. Survivors include a brother, Clarence A. Gladys Nadine Kerr Gladys Nadine Kerr, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Kerr was born in Winsboro and had lived in Amarillo since 1943. She was a retired cook, having worked for the YWCO Children's Learning Center for 19 years and Hagman's Cafeteria for nine years. She was Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kerr, in 1975, and two daughters, Doris Morland and Veda Brazell. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Roach of Houston and Helen Herrera and June Kerr, both of Amarillo; a brother, Elvis Barber of Leesburg; a sister, Myrtle Alexander of Greenville; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Chrystal Cook Chrystal Cook, 90, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk, Neb. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Cook was born in Orchard, Neb., and moved to Amarillo from Omaha 19 years ago. She was a member of the Omaha Order of the Eastern Star and San Jacinto United Methodist Church in Amarillo. She married Raymond Cook in 1931 at Columbus, Neb. He died in 1962. Survivors include a son, Bryce Cook of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to San Jacinto United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity. Freda Ann Chambliss Freda Ann Chambliss, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Louis Clark of Life Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Chambliss was born in Bourne, England, and was a longtime Amarillo resident. She was a homemaker and baby sitter. She was a member of Life Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a son, Russell Chambliss of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Valerie Smith of England; two brothers, Jackie Scotney and Georgie Scotney, both of England; and two sisters, Ema Jackson and Anna Grumett, both of England. The body will be available for viewing this morning. Waltie A. Mayes Waltie A. Mayes, 93, of Clifton and a former Amarillo resident, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Mrs. Mayes was born in Missouri. She was an Amarillo resident for many years before moving to Whitney in the mid1980s. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married S. James Mayes in the late 1920s at Missouri. He died in 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Ballard of Whitney; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. New Mexico Lela Hittson Crook CLOVIS, N.M. - Lela Hittson Crook, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in San Jon Cemetery in San Jon. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Crook was born in Amistad. She attended school in Amistad, Clayton and Canyon, Texas. She retired after 30 years as a teacher at San Jon Grade School. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Crook, in 1992. Survivors include two stepchildren, Steve Crook of Petaluma, Calif., and Carol Nozynski of Poquoson, Va.; a brother, Carl Kroger of Amistad; two sisters, Vera Meeks of Dalhart and Fern Zimmerman of Clayton; and four grandchildren. Oklahoma Justine Mounts BALKO, Okla. - Justine Mounts, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Perryton, Texas, with the Rev. Ted Latham officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mrs. Mounts was born in Woods County and had lived in the Balko area since 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of Balko Baptist Church. She married Clarence Mounts in 1924 in Alva. He died in 1953. Survivors include two sons, Earl Mounts of Borger, Texas, and Gene Mounts of Balko; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Elsewhere E.C. Shipley HURRICANE, W. Va. - E.C. Shipley, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Chapman Funeral Home of Hurricane. Mr. Shipley was an early resident of Borger, Texas, where he graduated from high school. During World War II, he was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps. He retired from Union Carbide and Carbon in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne. Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Shipley Leslie of Winfield and Susan Shipley and Sally Shipley Burns, both of Arnold, Md.; a brother, H.A. Shipley of Borger; two sisters, Sibyl Carver of Amarillo and Dolores Wright of Jal, N.M.; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the John Hanson Respite Center of Hurricane, W.Va., 25526. Phyllis Zielinski Smith HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Phyllis Zielinski Smith, 61, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olive Community Church with the Rev. J.D. McGrew officiating. Cremains will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo at a later date. Arrangements are by Gross Funeral Home of Hot Springs. Mrs. Smith was born in Hot Springs. In 1967, she graduated from Amarillo College School of Vocational Nursing. She lived in Amarillo for 18 years, then returned to Hot Springs 20 years ago. She was Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston C. Smith, and a son, Mark Richard Sells. Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Kiper of Amarillo; her mother, Lucy Evelyn Nixon of Hot Springs; a sister, Patricia Helm of Pearcy; a brother, Paul Chumas of Stuart, Iowa; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 926, Hot Springs, AR 71902. Dorothy Turner Jones ABILENE - Dorothy Turner Jones, 77, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in University Church of Christ with Dr. Eddie Sharp and Paul Garret officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home of Abilene. Mrs. Jones was born in Nashville, Tenn., and lived in El Paso for many years before moving to Abilene in 1982. She was a former Amarillo resident, where she was an RSVP volunteer for two years. In El Paso, Mrs. Jones was president of Houston and Crockett elementary PTAs, Austin High PTA, 15th District PTA and Lubbock Christian College Associates. She was on the executive board of University of Texas-El Paso and a volunteer at Providence Memorial Hospital for six years. In 1976, she was named El Paso Mother of the Year. In Abilene, Mrs. Jones received the Dorcas Award and was Top of the Hill award recipient for 10 years. She was a volunteer for Hendrick Medical Center for six years, at Christian Service Center for 13 years with 19,000 hours and for RSVP. She married F.S. Jones in 1945 at Bernalillo, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and by a daughter, Ruth Ann Burnham, in 1965. Survivors include a son, Robert Jones of Amarillo; two daughters, Linda Bell of Stanwood, Wash., and Debbie Hancock of Abilene; two granddaughters, Betty Burnham of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Georgann Tisdale of Tyler; two sisters, Sarah Snow of Show Low, Ariz., and Myra Bell of McMinnville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
