Miss Stalbird was born in Lockney, where she attended school. She was a lifelong resident. She had worked as a telephone operator and in the cafeteria at the Lockney Independent School District, from which she retired. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. Survivors include several cousins, Ladora Aufill and Chuck Aufill, both of Lockney, Don Aufill Jr. and Jeff Aufill, both of Houston, and Steve Aufill of Lubbock. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Irma Harrell DUMAS - Irma Harrell, 83, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Scott Willingham, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Harrell was born in Neodesha, Kan. In 1937 she moved from Okemah, Okla., to Dumas. She was a homemaker. She and her husband established Dairy Queen in Dumas in 1950 and operated it until 1974, when it was sold. She was a longtime member of the Moore County Home Demonstration Club. She married Troy L. Harrell in 1932 at Stigler, Okla. He died in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Jorene Carlton of Amarillo and Glenna Emmett of Dumas; a sister, Edith Russell of Dumas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Roy Harris PLAINVIEW - Roy Harris, 65, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Baily County Cemetery at Muleshoe with the Rev. Brad Reeves, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Harris was born in Muleshoe, where he attended school. Until 1988 he did body shop work on cars in Monahans and Plainview. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Harris Tillar of Lufkin; two sons, Terry Lynn Harris of Seattle and Jason Harris of Monahans; a sister, Vivian White of Muleshoe; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Enochs Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mrs. Bayless was born in Stephens County. She was a homemaker. For seven years she was employed as a cafeteria worker by the Bula schools. She was an editor of the Enochs News for both the Morton Tribune and the Muleshoe Journal and a member of Enochs Baptist Church. In 1997 she moved from Enochs to Muleshoe. She married J.D. Bayless in 1927 at Bailey County. He died in 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Leta Mae Hall of Phoenix, Myrtie Ellen Finley of Odessa and Wanda Fae Doak of Wylie; a sister, Olene Cunningham of Lubbock; two brothers, Carl Coffman of Lamesa and Chester Coffman of Big Spring; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Ramirez was born in Tulia and attended school in Kress. He was a farmer employed by Tulia Feedlot. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his fiance, Betty Hinojosa of Tulia; a sister, Pat Ceballos of Tulia; and two brothers, Phillip Moreno and Caesar Moreno, both of Tulia. Dewell Allen Collins MEMPHIS - Dewell Allen Collins, 72, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Travis Baptist Church with the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Collins was born in Kirkland. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Airborne Division. A Memphis resident since 1959, he had been a supervisor for GTE. He was a member of Travis Baptist Church, the Masonic Order and the American Legion. He married Betty Decker in 1944. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Lue Crockett of Wheeler, Sue Wilson of Wichita Falls, Kay Blum of Memphis and Rita Flores of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Carroll Gilchrest HEDLEY - Carroll "Red" Gilchrest, 60, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Gilchrest officiating. Burial will be in Hedley Cemetery. Mr. Gilchrest was born in Memphis. He graduated from Hedley High School in 1957. From 1960 to 1963 he served in the Army. He was in the sprinkler fitter business in the Houston area until retiring in 1993. When he returned to Hedley, he worked for the county. He married Ellen Page in 1956 at Hedley. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melinda Thomas of Vernon; a brother, Ernest Gilchrest of Pasadena, Texas; and a sister, Betty Boyd of Shallowater. W.M. Green W.M. "Cotton" Green, 76, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Mr. Green was born in Petrolia. At age 18, he enlisted in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Artic, which was stationed off the coast when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. He served in the Navy for eight years and in the Naval Reserves for two years, working as Chief Machinist's Mate and later promoted to Chief Petty Officer. In 1948 he moved to Amarillo, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Southwestern Public Service Co. for 39 years before retirement. He also coached Little League baseball. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and of the Adult Two Co-ed Sunday School Class. He married Lois Davidson in 1946 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, William David Green of Amarillo; a sister, Minnie Lee Richardson of Oklahoma City; a brother, Herbert Green of Lovington, N.M.; two grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren. Ona Lee Markham Ona Lee Markham, 81, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. In 1957 she moved from Tulia to Amarillo. She was a homemaker and had been employed as a secretary. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She married James Murray Markham in 1944 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, James Lee Markham of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Robert Turner Robert Turner, 67, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Turner was born in Michigan. He was a retired bookkeeper. He was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church and of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge in Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Turner; two sons, Robert Turner and Jon Turner, both of Morene, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Thomas James Carter III Thomas James "Trey" Carter III, 14, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Amarillo Bible Church with Jim Gianoutsos, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery at Hereford by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Trey was born in Amarillo. After living in Lovington, N.M., for several years, he returned Amarillo four years ago. He had attended Austin Middle School and was a freshman at Tascosa High School. He was a member of Amarillo Bible Church. Survivors include his mother, Rosa Martinez Carter of Seminole; his father, Thomas James Carter II of Houston; a sister, Hillary Martinez of Seminole; three brothers, Frankie Sierra of Lovington and Kristopher Mendez and Sergio Mendez, both of Seminole; and his grandparents, T.J. and Melba Carter of Amarillo and Jose and Elvira Martinez of Lovington. Tucker, 56, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Smith of St. Stephen's and the Rev. Eddie Alsup officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Born in Tulia, Mr. Tucker graduated from Tulia High School, where he played drums in the band. He became a back-up drummer for Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins and Rick Tucker & the Rhythm Teens Band. Mr. Tucker also worked in radio, as an insurance representative, as top producer for John Deere Division, Moline, Ill., and as an auctioneer. He was an organizer of the National Cowgirl Museum and named their magazine, "SideSaddle." In 1989 Mr. Tucker moved to Amarillo. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, where he served as district coordinator for the lay speaking ministry. He married Jeannie Moon in 1978 at Hereford. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shamarie Morris and Paula Bolton, both of Dalhart; a brother, W.A. "Bill" Tucker of Renton, Wash.; and seven grandchildren. Canyon David Kelly McGehee David Kelly McGehee, 92, of Canyon, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Bales and the Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. McGehee was born in Armstrong County and lived in the Wayside and Canyon communities all of his life. In the late 1920s he attended West Texas State College, where he was an outstanding tennis player. Mr. McGehee was a farmer who invented lifts for one-way plows and other mechanical devices employed in farm work and was an organizer of the Rural Electric Association in Wayside and Happy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon. He married Bessie Frances Peck in 1930. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Lee Taylor of Amarillo and Bette Jane Morris of Topeka, Kan.; a son, Kelly Dwight McGehee of Dallas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. New Mexico Deciderio Valdez CLAYTON, N.M. - Deciderio "Dessie" Valdez, 89, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier by the Rev. George Silva, pastor. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Valdez was born in Correo. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. A longtime construction worker, he was employed by the Works Projects Administration in the 1930s. For 10 years he worked at the Rabbit Ear Cafe. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He married Rose Fernandez. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Vera Rael and Bernice Trujillo. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Nora Padilla and Connie L. Vasquez, both of Clayton; two sons, Joe Amado Valdez and Felix Valdez, both of Raton; a sister, Sofia Martinez of Clayton; 22 grandchildren, including Lori Ann Trujillo, whom he raised; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. McClelland was a native of Iowa. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of El Sobrante for 37 years. She had been employed by the Richmond Unified School District. She belonged to May Valley Women's Club, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Delta Kappa Gamma Teta Psi Chapter and East Bay Home Economics in Homemaking. Survivors include her husband, Donald G. McClelland; a daughter, Debra Kitsman of Cook; a son, Mark McClelland of San Carlos; her mother, Dorothy Dreier of Dumas, Texas; a sister, Evelyn Bose of Dumas; and four grandchildren.
