Green DUMAS - A.C. Green, 66, died Monday, July 6, 1998. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church Parlor with the Rev. Scott Willingham, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Green was born in Wichita Falls and moved to Dumas in 1996 from Ulysses, Kan., where he had lived for several years. He was an irrigation salesman for Industrial Irrigation. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 until 1955 in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, ROK President Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include three sons, Randy Green of Ulysses, Steve Green of Garden City, Kan., and Rusty Green of Long Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Greta Naab of Hays, Kan., Tina Lynch of Greeley, Colo., and Patti Winkelman of Dumas; two brothers, Walter Green of Vidalia, La., and Gene Green of Texas; a sister, Wilma Burkhart of El Cajon, Calif.; and 17 grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, Texas 79029. Alicia Melendez DIMMITT - Alicia Melendez, 43, died Sunday, July 12, 1998. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Guillermo Morales, pastor. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home at Dimmitt. Mrs. Melendez was born in Artesia, N.M., and moved to Dimmitt in 1976 from Haggerman, N.M. She married Criz Melendez in 1974 at Haggerman. She was a Catholic and a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Eliza Melendez of Dimmitt; mother, Fernando Aguirre of Artesia; a brother, Joe Silva of Dexter, N.M., and a sister, Maria Juarez of Dexter. Emily Potts Johnston FLOYDADA - Emily Potts Johnston, 82, died Saturday, July 11, 1998. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mrs. Johnston was born in Durant, Okla. She graduated from Lubbock High School. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Tech in 1936. In 1956, she received a master's in education from Texas Tech. Beginning in 1956, Mrs. Johnston taught second grade. She later served as a high school counselor and sponsor for the Future Teachers Association. In 1978, she retired from Floydada Independent School District. Mrs. Johnston was a member of American Association of University Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Texas State Teachers Association, National Educators Association, Floyd County Historical Society and West Texas Museum Association. She was also active in Spirit of Sharing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Jim Potts in 1936 at Lubbock. They moved to Floydada in 1946. Mr. Potts died in 1956. In 1974 she married Ralph Johnston in Lubbock. Mr. Johnston died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Johnston Jr., in 1986, and by a daughter, Grace Anne Heacock in 1990. Survivors include four sons, Frank Potts of Floydada, Bill Potts of Medina, Wash., Lon Johnston of Austin and George Johnston of Farmington, N.M.; one daughter, Becky Hamilton of Seminole; 18 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Hedgecoke was born at Canadian. A lifelong resident, she was a graduate of Canadian High School. She and her husband owned and operated Hedgecoke Livestock Transportation for 38 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Dale Hedgecoke in 1940 at Arnett, Okla. He died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Ed Hedgecoke of Canadian; a brother, Carrol Carr of Canadian; three sisters, Shirley Pittman of Pampa, and Mary Cox and Earlene Hoffer, both of Miami; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Shamrock with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, and the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Interment will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Henderson was born in Howe, Okla. For the last 60 years, she lived in Wheeler County. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married T.B. Henderson in 1938 at Twitty. Survivors include a son, Arlen Henderson of Shamrock; a daughter, Pam Cantrell of Ames, Iowa; three brothers, Bennie Ford of Shamrock, Earl Gene Ford of Clarendon and Clyde Lee Ford of Amarillo; a sister, Jeri Roberts of Shamrock; two grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Amarillo Pauline G. Urton Pauline G. Urton, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 13, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Jerry Davey, pastor of Pleasant Valley Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Urton moved to Amarillo from Umpire, Ark., 68 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary Carpenters Local 665. She married Erwin Urton in 1937 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, James Urton, in 1985. Survivors include her husband; a son, Gerald Ray Urton of Amarillo; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Fay Bennett Bradley Fay Bennett Bradley, 89, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Britton Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Bradley was born in Elmore City, Okla. She grew up in Loco, Okla., where she attended school. In 1929, she and her husband moved to Oklahoma City, where she was a charter member of Britton Road Church of Christ and served as church historian. Her scrapbook is on display at the church. Before moving to Amarillo, Mrs. Bradley lived in Edmond, Okla. She married Will H. Bradley in 1926. He died in 1984. A daughter and two stepsons also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Paul Bradley, of Wheaton, Ill.; a sister, Evelyne Ivers of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Elizabeth Ann Thompson Elizabeth Ann Thompson, 66, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 13, 1998. Private family services were held. Cremation was by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Thompson was born in Guthrie, Okla. She lived in Dumas prior to moving to Amarillo 20 years ago. Before her retirement, she owned and operated a jewelry store and gift shop. She was a Baptist. She married Charlie C. Thompson in 1951 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Larry Thompson and David Thompson, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Susan German of Amarillo; her mother, Nona S. Forister of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Carl C. McFaul Carl C. McFaul, 69, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 13, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Pastor John Elser officiating. Mr. McFaul was born in Sweet Home. He came to Amarillo in 1971. He was a supervisor at AT&T and a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. McFaul married Teresa Kuss in 1951 at Hermleigh. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Guinn, in 1985. Survivors include three sons, Daniel C. McFaul and Tim C. McFaul, both of Amarillo, and Jim D. McFaul of Brownwood; a daughter, Diana Hartmann of Abilene; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Canyon James Vester Martin James Vester "Jim" Martin, 70, of Canyon, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sixth Avenue Church of Christ, Sixth Avenue and 21st Street in Canyon, with Howard Morris and Randy Morris officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home. Mr. Martin was born in Turkey and had been a resident of Canyon since 1962. He attended school in Turkey and graduated in 1946 from Lockney High School. Before moving to Canyon, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. He was an advertising salesman for The Canyon News before going into the service station business in 1970. He operated Jim's Gulf Stations for several years at two different locations on 23rd Street in Canyon. He was a Marine rifle squad leader in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Sixth Street Church of Christ and for several years was a lay minister of the church. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Tammy Jane Wilson of Amarillo, Marla Kay Barclay of Tulia and Cristie Moorehouse of Hereford; a brother, Troy Martin of Canyon; and eight grandchildren. New Mexico Allene Wright CLOVIS, N.M. - Allene Wright, 72, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Edmond, Okla. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the 16th and Pile Church of Christ with Bret McCasland and Robert Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Wright was born in Clovis. She married Thomas Milton "Shorty" Wright in 1948 at Clovis. For a brief time, she lived in La Junta, Colo., Amarillo and Slaton, Texas. She moved back to Clovis until 1997, when she moved to Edmond. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a member of 16th and Pile Church of Christ and of Alpha Theta. Survivors include a daughter, Jennie Wright of Lubbock; three sons, Tom Wright of Clovis and Todd Wright and Jay Wright, both of Edmond; a sister, B. Lyman of Albuquerque; and eight grandchildren. James Henry Sours TUCUMCARI, N.M. - James Henry Sours, age 67, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998. Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1172, 2118 S. Adams St., in Tucumcari. Cremation was by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Sours was born in Amarillo. A longtime resident of the Tucumcari area, he was a rancher and a farmer. He served in the Air Force for 10 years, beginning in the Army Air Corps in 1947. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and of Tucumcari Elks Lodge 1172. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Tucumcari; three daughters, Robin Carter and Nona Gemmer, both of Moriarty, and Liz Luera of Tucumcari; his mother, Ethel Walt of Tucumcari; two brothers, Bill Sours of Farmington and W.R. Walt Jr. of Tucumcari; a sister, Wilma Knight of Tucumcari; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A James Sours Memorial Fund has been established at Citizen's Bank in Tucumcari to receive memorial contributions. Oklahoma David Ray Carver HOOKER, Okla. - David Ray Carver, 31, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at McAlester. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel at Guymon with the Rev. Billy Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Carver was born in Guymon. He was raised in Hooker where he attended school. He participated in Boy Scouts and Youth Group Boxing. He attended a Baptist church and was in the 47th Division of the Army National Guard at Liberal, Kan. He was a truck driver, driving for several different companies. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Courtney of Hooker; two sons, Wesley James Carver and Raymond Walter Carver, both of Oklahoma City; a brother, James Willies Carver of Guymon; a stepbrother, Billy J.
