He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hand worked for Northern Natural Gas in Skellytown for 40 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Gardner Street Church of Christ in Borger. He married Margaret E. Stewart in 1945 at Kerrville. She died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Lynne Kossey of Borger; two brothers, Louis F. Hand of Spearman and Bob Hand of Batesville, Ark.; a sister, Lottie DeBust of Plain Dealing, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a farmer before retiring in 1987. He served with the Navy as a radarman during World War II. He attended Panhandle A&M University. He served on the Hansford County ASCS Election Board and the Perryton Equity Board. Mr. Allen married Dickie Kiker Robinson in 1972 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lynn Riley of Perryton and Diana Parker of Amarillo; a son, Skipper Robinson of Austin; two sisters, Maxine Vernon of Springville, Calif., and Norma Jo Peargin of Pismo Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burns was born in Honey Grove and had been a resident of Pampa since 1934. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Albert Burns in 1929 at Shamrock. He died in 1957. Mr. Taylor was born in Valley View and raised in Bronte. He moved to the Goodland community from Eldorado in 1949. He moved to Muleshoe in 1960. Mr. Taylor was a farmer and rancher. He had served on the Threeway School board and was employed by Bailey County Precinct Number Two. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe, the Eldorado Masonic Lodge and the Bailey County Farm Bureau. He married Jewel Glover in 1981 at Muleshoe. He married his first wife, Laura Ella "Toots" Gregory in 1930 at Lovington. She died in 1980. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Sowder, who died on Feb. 14, 1998. Mrs. Colson was born in Clay County, Tenn. She moved to Muleshoe in 1959 from Gamaliel, Ken. She was employed as a switch board operator in Willow Grove, Tenn., from 1920 until 1925. She also had been employed by West Plains Hospital in Muleshoe for 17 years. She was a homemaker and member of Muleshoe Church of Christ since 1944. She first married Commodore Martin in 1915 at Overton County, Tenn. He died in 1920. She married James Richard Colson in 1925 at Willow Grove. He died in 1944. She earned her bachelor's of business administration degree in marketing and retailing from the University of Texas in 1957. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Winchell published her first cookbook of Winchell family recipes, "Creme of the Crop," in 1979. In the early 1980s, she opened her first Creme of the Crop retail gourmet store in Sironia and a subsequent store was opened at St. Basil's. The current store is at The Shops in River Square in Waco. Her second book of family recipes, "Creme of the Crop - A Second Helping," was published in 1997. She married Gerald P. Winchell in 1957. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark Winchell of Houston and Craig Winchell of Dallas; a daughter, Gail Felps of Waco; a brother, Jeff M. Neely Jr. of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mrs. Baron-Tapia was born in Prescott, Ariz. She moved to Brownsville, Texas in 1942 where she practiced nursing. She later moved to Walla Walla, Wash., then retired to Portales in 1972. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She married Ed Kirkpatrick in 1935. She married Ben R. Barton in 1942. In 1967, she married Henry Tapia who preceded her in death. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mrs. Eller was born in Cave City, Ark. She married Jacob "Jake" Eller in 1924. He died in 1971. Survivors include a son, Dr. T.O. Juanita O. Wall CLOVIS, N.M. - Juanita O. Wall, 77, of Texico died Friday, March 13, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Boydston officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Wall was born in Sayre, Okla. She was a lifelong resident of Texico where she owned the Burger Barn for many years. She was a Baptist. She married John R. Wall in 1938 at Portales. He died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Harla Jean Gossett, in 1995. Survivors include two sons, Roy Owen Wall of Richfield, Wis., and Ronnie Euel Wall of Clovis; two daughters, Patsy Onita Turner of Texico and Sherry Fay Blain of Spring, Texas; a brother, Steve Owen of Clovis; and two sisters, Onita Luce, her twin, of Farwell, and Edna McCray of Denver City, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Park Cemetery by Parson-Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Sanchez was born in San Luis, Mexico. He moved to Earth in 1956 from Mexico. He was a farmer and member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He married Belia Morales in 1969 at Earth. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jessie Olvera of Earth, Raymon Olvera of Hale Center, Joe Olvera of Amarillo and Jorge Sanchez of Lubbock; a daughter, Josie Sanchez of Austin; his mother, Trinidad Salinas of Earth; a sister, Justina Garcia of Earth; four brothers, Raymundo Perez, Elpidio Perez and Juan Salinas, all of Earth, and Richard Salinas of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. Mildred Brooks Kirchhoff PLAINVIEW - Mildred Brooks "Mickey" Kirchhoff, 95, died Thursday, March 12, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Kirchhoff was born in Freelandville, Ind., and graduated from high school there. She graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing with a registered nurse's degree. She was employed as dental assistant for her husband, the late Dr. E.H. Kirchhoff, for more than 40 years. Mrs. Kirchhoff moved to Plainview in 1935. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and played piano for her Sunday School class. She married Dr. Kirchhoff in 1940 at Plainview. He died in 1979. Survivors include a stepson, John J. Kirchhoff of Plainview; three sisters, Ruth Hollingsworth, Myra Harting and Alice May Tony, all of Freelandville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Idell Cates PAMPA - Idell Cates, 80, died Saturday, March 14, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Lyndon Glaesman, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cates was born in Foreman, Ark. She moved to Pampa in 1952. She was a homemaker and member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She married Grover Cates in 1932 at Foreman. He died in 1981. She also was preceded in death by a son, Grover Cates Jr., in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy West of Yukon, Okla.; a sister, Virginia Hastings of Amarillo; a brother, Irvin Hinton of Foreman; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
