Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Bert Horvath, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Potter was born in Tulia where he graduated from high school and played on three consecutive district championship basketball teams. He was all-district in football and basketball. He graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education. Mr. Potter taught at Sedan, Nazareth, Idalou, Levelland, Sonora and Vega high schools, where he coached district, regional and state champions. He was a five-time district coach of the year. He was a retired Army captain, a member of the American Legion Post 345 and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He married Teresa Bilgri in 1960 in Canyon. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Potter of Silverton and Mike Potter of Canyon; a daughter, Joan Hooker of Lubbock; and a sister, Barbara Kerbow of Amarillo. The family will be at 205 N. Jimmy Mitchell DALHART - Jimmy Mitchell, 57, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Hancock, minister of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Mitchell was born in Dalhart. He worked for West Texas Gas Co. for 28 years and had owned and operated Mitchell Ditching. He was a member of the Lincoln Street Baptist Church and the Dalhart Men's Bible Study. He married Kelly Ledbetter in 1982 in Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shawnna Hilling of Troy, Ill., and Connie Johnson of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a son, Jarett Ledbetter of Dalhart; his mother, Edna Mitchell of Dalhart; two sisters, Bertha Blake of Stratford and Betty Fletcher of Hartley; three brothers, Johnny Mitchell and Jerry Mitchell, both of Dalhart, and Jerral Mitchell of Dumas; and three grandchildren. JaLisa Nicole McIntosh WELLINGTON - JaLisa Nicole McIntosh, infant daughter of LaSondra McIntosh, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. todaya homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Pete Vera Sr., in 1951 at Benavides. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Isabell McLeod of Fritch and Elvira Hill of Amarillo; four sons, Pete Vera Jr., and Johnny Vera, both of Spearman, Ruben Vera of Gruver and Willie Vera of Fritch; two brothers, Ruben Ramirez of Van Horn and Augie Ramirez of LaQuinta, Calif.; a sister, Lydia Flannery of Tavares, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Amarillo Clara E. Funderburk Clara Ellen McCord Funderburk, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in the penthouse of the Continental Apartment Building of Park Central, 1300 S. Jackson, with the Rev. Ed M. van der Maas officiating. Cremation is by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. A second memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Allnut Funeral Service Macy Chapel in Greeley, Colo. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. Mrs. Funderburk was born in Osawatomie, Kan., and moved to Durango, Colo., in 1919. She graduated from Durango High School in 1931 and received an associate of arts degree from Fort Lewis College. After teaching for two years in Rockwood, Colo., she attended Colorado State University, graduating in 1937 with a bachelor of science degree. She received a master's degree in home economics in 1963 from the University of Northern Colorado and joined the university staff as associate professor of home economics. After becoming a registered dietitian, Mrs. Funderburk worked as administrative and teaching dietitian in Philadelphia and Cornell Medical Center in New York City. She then became home management supervisor in the Farm Security Program in Grand Junction, Colo. During World War II, she worked at the University of Washington and North Dakota A&M. In Greeley, Mrs. Funderburk was dietitian for Weld County General Hospital in 1952, then was home service director of the Greeley Gas Co. In 1955, she taught public school. She joined the faculty of the University of Northern Colorado as associate professor of home economics in 1963. Mrs. Funderburk served as department chairperson at UNC for several years. In 1973, she retired with the title of emeritus. She continued as instructor for Morgan County Community College and field representative for Weld County Council of Aging until 1978. In 1980, Mrs. Funderburk received the Columbine Award for service to the State of Colorado. She was listed in the Who's Who of American Women and was an honored alumna of the University of Northern Colorado. Throughout her life, Mrs. Funderburk was Girl Scout and 4-H leader as well as Sunday school teacher. She served on nutrition councils at county, state, national levels and was on the Citizens Advisory Council for the Greeley-Weld school district. She was the state board director for the Colorado Retired School Employees and state secretary for the Retired Federal Employees Association. Mrs. Funderburk was a member of the League of Women Voters, First United Methodist Church of Greeley, American Legion Auxiliary, Heritage Association of Northern Colorado, Weld County Historical Society, Humane Society and Greeley Senior Activity Center. She also was a volunteer for the Greeley Public Museums, serving as a docent for the Centennial Village open air museum. She was affiliated with the American Dietetic Association, the Colorado Dietetic Association, the American Association of University Professors, the American Home Economics Association and the Colorado Home Economics Association. She was president of Phi Lambda Theta and the Pacific South Region of College and University Teachers of Food and Nutrition and the Emeritus Faculty Association of the University of Northern Colorado. She moved to Amarillo in 1995, where she served on the residents' council of the Continental apartment building at Park Central. She was a member of Polk Street Methodist Church. She married Earl W. Funderburk in 1942 in Durango. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Ruth Ellen van der Maas of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Earlene Kay Steffensmeier of Canyon; a grandson; and two stepgrandchildren. Hard Albert E. "Al" Hard, 76, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2101 N. Coulter, with Bishop Bruce Johnston officiating. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mr. Hard was born in West Plains, Mo., and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He served as a volunteer for the Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary and was an elder at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Bernice Lack in 1941. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Ann Hard. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lana Hall of Vega; a son, Thomas Hard of Baytown; three sisters, Holly Carlson of Denver, Helen DeLapp of Springfield, Mo., and Eddie Hogan of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Scott Wilder Scott Wilder, 46, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Don Heddin officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mr. Wilder was born and raised in Amarillo. He was a graduate of Amarillo High School. He had been employed by Maywood Co., and was a member of the Arbor Foundation. He is survived by a brother, Mark Wilder of Amarillo; and three sisters, Maggie Eastepp, Barbara Dubin and Billie Manning, all of Amarillo. The body will not be available for viewing. Vivian Eloise Owens Vivian Eloise Owens, 74, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Coulter Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Dana Moore of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and Dr. Larry Payne of Coulter Road Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Owens was born in Henderson County. Before moving to Amarillo in 1975, she lived in Masterson and Keyes, Okla. She married William "Buddy" Owens in 1940 at Henderson County. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker. She was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church and was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Big Texan line dancers and Amarillo Senior Citizens line dancers. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and by two daughters, Carla Lynn Smalts, in August, and Vickie Owens in 1968. Survivors include a son, Gary D. Owens of Amarillo; two sisters, Joann Clifton of Amarillo and Claudine Colvert of Borger; five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or to the Amarillo Senior Citizens. Mary Frances Baldwin Mary Frances Baldwin, 70, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Elgie Crow, pastor of Carter Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes. Mrs. Baldwin was born in Holy Springs, Miss., and moved to Amarillo as a teen-ager. She attended Patten High School. She was a domestic worker. Survivors include Cedric Steed of Amarillo; her father, Arnold McGilbray of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles Kemp of Amarillo and Arnold McGilbray of San Francisco; and a grandson.
