Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Travis Shannon, pastor of Golden Pathways Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Burney was born in Amarillo where she had lived most of her life. She graduated from Palo Duro High School. She married Bruce Burney in 1976 in Amarillo. They moved to Borger and purchased Bugs Burney Pest Control. They lived there several years before moving their co-owned business to Amarillo. She attended Golden Pathways Church and was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge 1361. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bryan Wayne Burney and Brandon Dee Burney, both of the home; and a sister, Martha Fern Davis of Beaumont. The family will be at 1016 S. Georgia St. Elmo Daniels Elmo Daniels, 76, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dick Marcear of Central Church of Christ officiating. Military rites will be by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Daniels was born in Fort Worth and moved to Amarillo two years ago from Dumas. He retired in 1983 from El Paso Natural Gas after 32 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Carlsbad, N.M., Chamber of Commerce and attended the Church of Christ. He married Martha Camacho in 1979 at Carlsbad. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gennie Daniels of the home, Jennifer Porter of Amarillo and Glenda Daniels of Cloudcroft, N.M.; four sons, Paul Daniels of Cloudcroft, Charlie Daniels of Elk City, Okla., Joe Daniels of New Mexico and William Camacho of Newark, Del. The family requests memorials be to Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79109. Ila M. Doss Ila M. Doss, 84, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. MST Wednesday in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Albuquerque, N.M. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Doss was born in San Saba County. She moved to Amarillo in 1996 from Albuquerque. She was a self-employed restaurant owner and member of Church of Christ. She married Paul M. Doss in 1943 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1971. Survivors include two brothers, A.C. Cockrell of Amarillo and John Hurlon Cockrell of Floydada. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice in Amarillo or a favorite charity. Alvie Hayes Alvie "Dale" Hayes, 53, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Mr. Hayes was born in McAlester, Okla., and had been an Amarillo resident since 1950. He graduated from Amarillo High School and served with the Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hayes received an associate degree in criminal justice from Amarillo College. He was employed as a correctional officer at the Clements Unit. Survivors include a son, Tim Hayes of Amarillo; three daughters, April Hayes and Amber Hayes, both of Amarillo, and Trina Walker of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Don Hayes of Amarillo; a special friend, Nita Tucker of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 2907 S. Birmingham. Ercel Crawford Ercel "Dean" Crawford, 78, of Greeley, Colo., and a former resident of Amarillo, died Thursday, June 11, 1998 in Cheyenne, Wyo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating. Entombment will be in Mausoleum East. Mr. Crawford was born in Wintrop, Ark. He served in Company K, First Infantry from 1936 until 1939. He joined the Marines in 1941 and achieved the rank of master sergeant at the time of his discharge in 1946. He served in the Hawaiian Islands, Mariana Islands and Midway Island. Mr. Crawford was in the Oakland Police Department for 15 years before moving to Las Vegas where he retired from law enforcement in 1987. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Shriners, Free and Accepted Masonic Temple of Las Vegas, Daylight Lodge No. 44, Karak Temple in Reno, Nev., San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo, the 49ers Club in Amarillo and the Greeley and Amarillo senior centers. Survivors include three sons, Gary D. Crawford and James D. Crawford, both of Greeley, and Barry Crawford of Alameda, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Reid of Danville, Calif.; a brother, Farris R. Crawford of Amarillo; a sister, Velma Thomas of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Earl Ray Overbay HENNESSEY, Okla. - Earl Ray Overbay, 64, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Ed Arbogast officiating. Burial will be in the Hennessey Cemetery by Cordry-Sisson Funeral Home. Mr. Overbay was born in Bradley. He married Gladys Katherine Collins in 1959 in Amarillo. They lived in Amarillo until 1990, when they moved to Hennessey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Rose. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Boyd Ray "Butch" Overbay of Hennessey, Bill Overbay and Chris Overbay, both of Enid and Gerry Overbay of the home; a daughter, Melinda "Scooter" Thompson of Hennessey; and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Brandon was born in Mason County. She moved to Ralls in 1944 from Seagraves. She was a homemaker and member of Emma Church of Christ. She married James W. Brandon Jr. in 1933 at Crosbyton. He died in 1986. Survivors include a sister, Edith Atchison of Amarillo. Area Wanda Lee Kuykendall PAMPA - Wanda Lee Kuykendall, 61, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Eller Flats-Prairie Dell Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Meller of Gem City Church officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Kuykendall was born in Portales, N.M., and was raised in the Canadian area. She lived in Pampa for most of her adult life. She had been employed as a cook at various Pampa restaurants including the Harvester Bowl. She also was a dispatcher for Halliburton. She was Baptist. She married Don Kuykendall in 1954 at Pampa. He died in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Touchstone of Leedey, Okla., and Jill Schroeder of Pampa; two sons, Don Kuykendall of Farnsworth and Joe Kuykendall of Pampa; her mother, Dorothy Herd of Pampa; a brother, James Herd of Pampa; a sister, Linda Hollis of Pampa; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. LaRita Bynum Caskey MIAMI - LaRita Bynum Caskey, 45, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Caskey was born in Pampa and raised in Dumas. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1970. She had lived in Big Spring for two years before moving to Miami two months ago. She received an associate degree in nursing from Amarillo College and worked as a registered nurse. She was a member and a deaconess of the First Christian Church at Perkins, Okla. Survivors include her husband, Robert of Dallas; a daughter, Kimberly Jean Terrill of Perkins; her mother, Frankie Herman of Miami; and two sisters, Kathy Bieker of Liberty City and Tina Walker of Miami. Beverly Bowman SILVERTON - Beverly Bowman, 61, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rock Creek Church of Christ with Ted Kingery and J.D. Nance officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery at Wheeler by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Bowman was born in Wheeler. She owned and operated Guaranty Abstract until retiring two years ago. She was active in the Silverton Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Rock Creek Church. She married John D. Bowman in 1955 at Allison. Survivors include her husband; three sons, John Dan Bowman Jr. of Morton, Tom Bowman of Matador and Scott Bowman of Littleton, Colo.; her parents, Glen and Nona Elmore of Allison; two sisters, Sue Giddens of Allison and Phyllis Williams of Fort Saginaw; a brother, Larry Elmore of Allison; and five grandsons. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Association or to the hospice in Plainview. Bill J. Pinkerton HEREFORD - Bill J. Pinkerton, 68, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel with Don Fortner officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Pinkerton was born in Boswell, Okla. He was a Navy veteran. He married Georgie Elliston in 1954 at Norman. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce Pinkerton of Lubbock and Doug Pinkerton and Joe Pinkerton, both of Hereford; a daughter, Vivin Klecker of Hereford; nine grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Association. Elmer John PERRYTON - Elmer John, 77, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and a former resident of Booker, died Friday, June 12, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Friends Church in Booker with Francis Ross and Jim Obanion officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. John was born in Gage, Okla., and lived in Booker from 1935 until 1972. He lived in Phoenix from 1972 until 1986 and returned to Arizona in 1995. He retired in 1984 after 12 years as a supervisor of the water treatment plant in Glendale, Ariz. He was a member of Friends Church in Booker. He married Mary Ruth Taylor in 1958 at Booker. His first marriage was in 1940 to Juanita Eccles who died in 1954. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda Palti of Chandler, Ariz., and Debra McQuitty of Booker; two sons, Kenneth John of Pocatello, Idaho, and Les John of Yorba Linda, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Friends Church, 401 S. Beaumont, Booker, Texas, 79005; or to a favorite charity. Dorothy B. Martinez DALHART - Dorothy B. Martinez, 68, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Hass Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fernand Couture officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Martinez was born in Channing and moved to Dalhart in the early 1940s. She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She married Daniel S. Martinez in 1945 at Dalhart. He died in 1980. Survivors include a son, George Martinez of Carrollton; a daughter, Debbie Teafatiller of Dalhart; three sisters, Pauline Valdez of Dalhart, Arlene Bigham of Logan, N.M., and Luann Hunter of Clayton, N.M.; two brothers, Tommy and Victor Montoya, both of Dalhart; and five grandchildren. Gladys Teague BOOKER - Gladys Teague, 92, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in Darrouzett with the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Teague was born in Calico Rock, Ark., then moved to Texas. She graduated from Miami High School and West Texas State University with a master's degree in speech and English. She taught in schools in Higgins, Follett, Darrouzett, Booker and Perryton. After her retirement from teaching, Mrs. Teague and her first husband moved to Red River, N.M., where they lived until his death in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Darrouzett, Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma. She also was an artist. Her second marriage was to Clyde Miller Teague in 1984 at Amarillo. They moved to Twin Oaks Manor in 1994. Mr. Teague died in 1997. Her first marriage was to Glen Wade Phillips in 1929 at Darrouzett. Survivors include a son, Benton Wade Phillips of Woodward, Okla.; a daughter, Donna Howard of Amarillo; a sister, Hazel Hale of Austin; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
