Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Shelton was a lifetime member of Eastridge Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association and was a Cub Scout den mother for 13 years. She was a member of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church. She married James "Jim" E. Shelton in 1960 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, James T. Shelton, in 1995. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard Shelton of Tulsa and Steve Shelton of Amarillo; and a sister, Maurine McDowell of Huntsville. The family will be at 1221 Iris. The body will not be available for viewing. Alma McCarty Alma McCarty, 82, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with Glen Walton, minister of North Amarillo Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. McCarty was born in Swearington and moved to Amarillo in 1945 from Lockney. She was owner and operator of a restaurant and a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. She married William H. McCarty in 1930 at Courtney, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982 and by a daughter, Barbara Miller, in 1959. Survivors include three sons, Clifford McCarty and Freddie McCarty, both of Lubbock, and Terry McCarty of Phoenix; a daughter, Carol McCarty of Amarillo; a sister, Ernie McConahey of Illinois; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Mattie Elna McKelley Mattie Elna McKelley, 93, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. McKelley was born in El Dorado, Ark., and had lived in Amarillo since 1965. She was a personal assistant for the L.B. Parker family. She was a member of Johnson Chapel AME Church. Her husband, Elbert McKelley, died in 1979. Survivors include three grandsons, Van Lee and Raymond Lee, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Napoleon Lee of Amarillo; and four granddaughters, Carlotta Lee, Vickie Lee and Peggy Lee, all of Little Rock, and Annie Virginia Mosley of California. STEPHENS Eugene Stephens Eugene "Steve" Stephens, 75, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Stephens was born in Galena, Mo., and had lived in Amarillo since 1954. He served with the Navy as a pharmacist mate attached to Marine divisions in Okinawa and Saipan. In 1974, he retired as chief of patients control from Veterans Administration Medical Center. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Federal Credit Union board and St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He also was an active volunteer. Survivors include three sons, Terry Stephens of Platte City, Mo., Gary Stephens of Greenville and Mark Stephens of Republic, Mo.; a daughter, Kay Norrid of Lake Charles, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. CISNEROS Sara Cisneros Sara Cisneros, 61, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Hector J. Madrigal of the church officiating. Burial was in Llano East Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Cisneros was born in Durango, Mexico and moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Claude. She moved from Guadalajara, Mexico to Wildorado in 1965, where she lived for four years before moving to Claude. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Sabas Cisneros in 1957 in Guadalajara. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Cisneros of Amarillo and Jose Cisneros of Houston; three daughters, Anna Maria Haataja of Lake Worth and Catalina Cisneros and Maria Luz Cisneros, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Jose Isabell Escamilla Vasquez, Salvador Escamilla Vasquez and Gabriel Escamilla Vasquez, all of Guadalajara; four sisters, Dolores Escamilla Vasquez of Durango, Alicia Paredes and Aurora Escamilla Vasquez, both of Chihuahua, Mexico and Maria de la Luz Escamilla Vasquez of San Bernardino, Calif.; and four grandchildren. New Mexico Billy Lee Martinez DES MOINES, N.M. - Billy Lee Martinez, 44, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, near Texline, Texas. Burial will be in Des Moines Catholic Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mr. Martinez was born in Raton and was a 1971 graduate of Des Moines High School. He served in the Air Force and was stationed at Cannon AFB in Clovis from 1972 to 1976. He was employed by Hofferber Trucking in Guymon, Okla., from 1976 until 1981, when he moved to Amarillo. In Amarillo, Mr. Martinez worked for Borden's, Affiliated Foods and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center prior to his employment with Plains Transportation Co. in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Heather Carleen Martinez of Hooker, Okla.; two sisters, Renee Walker of Los Lunas and Polly Titsworth of Honolulu; his grandmother, Amelia Tarufelli Martinez of Des Moines; and a special friend, Saprina Coiner of Clovis. Helen Ingalls Sjolseth CLOVIS, N.M. - Helen Ingalls Sjolseth, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Rollinson officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Sjolseth was born on a farm in Superior, Iowa. She worked as a secretary until moving to Hills, Minn. In 1964, she divorced and relocated to Clovis, where she worked for Citizens Bank as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1990, as assistant vice-president, after working nearly 30 years. She was active in the community, volunteering at events such as the Rodeo and Senior Citizens Home. She was preceded in death by a son, Brad Lee Sjolseth. Survivors include two daughters, Sharyn Sjolseth Allsburg of Beverly, Mass., and Rochelle "Shelley" Sjolseth of Aptos, Calif.;; a sister, Ruth Barnard of Belen; a brother, Lee Ingalls of Reserve; and two grandchildren. Oklahoma Gonzalo R. Fernandez WOODWARD, Okla. - Gonzalo R. Fernandez, 65, a former Guymon resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Fernandez was born in Rocksprings, Texas. He married Maria DeJesus Trevino in 1957 at Rocksprings. In July, they moved to Woodward. He was a selfemployed sheep shearer, retiring in 1991 and was a Catholic. Dean Harris officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. McCartney was born in Stewards Mill. For 20 years, she was a child-care provider in her home. She was a member of Central Baptist Church for 68 years. She married Ezra Cullen McCartney in 1929 at Fairfield. He died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Jacqueline McCartney and Dorthey Higgins. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Garner of Amarillo and Bettie LaNett Woodruff of Lubbock; four sisters, Vera Grace Bowen of Bishop, Josephine Cawlfield and Myrtle Lee Brown, both of San Antonio, and Kathryn Burton of Mesquite; a brother, Cecil Brown of College Station; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Exie Burton Bobbitt LUBBOCK - Exie Burton Bobbitt died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in W.W. Rix Funeral Directors Chapel with Trey Morgan officiating. Burial will be in city of Lubbock Cemetery. Mrs. Bobbitt was born in Caviness and was a graduate of East Texas State University. A resident of Oklahoma since the early 1940s, she was employed by the state of Oklahoma for 11 years. She lived in Lubbock from 1941 until 1943. Mrs. Bobbitt taught school in Lamar and Lamb counties. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Third Thursday Book Review Club for more than 30 years. She married William Bobbitt in 1937 at Sudan. He died in 1995. She also was preceded in death by two children, Sherry Jan, in 1942, and William Rhett, in 1945. Survivors include a sister, Gladys Davis of San Angelo. Jack Loveless, Victoria Loveless, David Loveless and Linda Loveless COLORADO - Jack Loveless, 57, of Ridgway; Victoria Loveless, 15, also of Ridgeway; and David Loveless, 27; and Linda Loveless, 27, both of Westminster, all died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, from injuries sustained in an airplane crash. Area Forest Moody TULIA - Forest "Cotton" Moody, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Brooks of First United Methodist Church at Crowell, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Moody was born in Marlow, Okla. He lived in Wellington and attended schools at Samnorwood. He lived in Bakersfield, Calif., from 1963 to 1967, then he returned to Swisher County. He farmed for Austin Barrett about eight years and for Jack Brooks for 21 years. He was a Methodist. He married Mary Ball in 1992 in Duncan, Okla. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Brenda Faye Moody of Abilene, Gwendalyn Moody of Shreveport, La., and Betty Law of Plainview; two sons, Jerry Wood of Crosbyton and Billy Wood of Lubbock; two sisters, Peggy Ruth Boatwright of Lewisville and Geraldine Brown of Bend; a brother, John Henry Moody of Duncan, Okla.; and 11 grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Wellington. Mrs. Lester was born in Kosse and had lived in Skellytown for 54 years. She attended the Pampa Senior Citizens Center and the Pampa Art Club. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Borger. She married Sam T. Lester in 1936 in Wellington. He died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Lester of Amarillo and Homer Lester of Pampa; two daughters, Joy Mills of Granbury and Nancy Riley of Waco; a brother, Thomas Holton of Greenwich, Conn.; a sister, Mary Darrow of Panhandle; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. James David Ray QUANAH - James David Ray, 41, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Young, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Ray was born in Quanah, where he lived all his life. He was a ginner for Quanah Farmers Coop. He married Michelle Adams in 1982 at Quanah. Survivors include his wife; a son, James Thomas Ray of the home; a daughter, Bethany Anne Ray of the home; his mother, Ellen Ray of Quanah; and a brother, Jimmy Don Ray of Quanah. Roy L. Bulls BORGER - Roy L. Bulls, 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones officiating. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Bulls was a native of Clarendon, where he graduated from high school in 1941 and Clarendon Junior College in 1943. In 1943, he entered the Army Air Corps and flew 50 missions as a tail gunner on B-24s in the 15th Air Force. He was a gunnery instructor until 1945. After the war, Mr. Bulls returned to Clarendon Junior College, then graduated from Texas Tech University in 1948 with a bachelor of business administration degree. From 1949 until 1951, he worked in oil field supplies in Kermit and Eunice and Hobbs, N.M. He then worked for Baker and Taylor Drilling Co. of Amarillo until he was transferred to Spearman in 1963. Mr. Bulls was vice president of the company from 1965 until 1990, when the company was dissolved. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Borger and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class. In 1970, he joined Spearman's Rotary Club and was president in 1975-76. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. He married Maxine Walker Brown in 1993 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jamie Bulls of Grapevine, Ross Bulls of Amarillo and Bobby Bulls of Carrollton; two daughters, Gina Gillespie of Spearman and Tracy Randal of Alvord; and 14 grandchildren. McGee, Borger, TX 79007. Margarito Herrera EARTH - Margarito "Mayo" Herrera, 71, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Herrera moved to the Earth community in 1957 from San Antonio. He was a carpenter. He married Pauline Lopez in 1950 at San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993 and by two sons, Ramior and Margarito Herrera Jr. Survivors include four sons, Alfred Arredondo of Littlefield, Albert Arredondo of Hallsville, Jose Luis Herrera of Earth and Armando Herrera of Plainview; four daughters, Maggie Martinez of Floresville, Josie Marquez and Angie Herrera, both of Earth, and Marie E. Arredondo of Levelland; a sister, Lucia Ortiz of Floresville; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Tily Unruh Osborne PERRYTON - Tily Unruh Osborne, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Michael Waterbury and Dr. Randall Spindle officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Osborne was born in Beaver County, Okla., and was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended school at Balko, Okla., and graduated from Perryton High School in 1950. She worked at Corner Drug and was a homemaker. She was a member of Full Gospel Church. She married Thaddeus Morrison Osborne in 1950 at Perryton. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Thad Osborne of Nocona and Mike Osborne of Sugar Land; a daughter, Debra Spindle of Oklahoma City; her father, Elmer Unruh of Perryton; a brother, Larry Unruh of Guymon, Okla.; a sister, Cheryl Unruh of Trinidad, Colo.; and five grandchildren. Curtis Lee Kidwell WHEELER - Curtis Lee Kidwell, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Kidwell was born in Milburn, Ark. He moved to Wheeler in 1942 from Shamrock. In 1972, he retired after 35 years as maintenance construction supervisor for the Texas Highway Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Fern Kidwell in 1932. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Betty Kreyling and Barbara Rector, both of Pampa; a son, Bud Kidwell of Plainview; a brother, Virgil Kidwell of Shamrock; a sister, Orbie Offutt of Shamrock; two grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Wheeler Cemetery Association. Elbert Smith WHEELER - Elbert "Ebb" Smith, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wheeler, officiating. Arrangements were by Wright Funeral Home in Wheeler. Mr. Smith was born in Bowie and moved to Wheeler in 1933 from Shamrock. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. For 20 years Mr. Smith was employed as a mechanic for Blakemore Motor Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Patsy Worley in 1947 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale Smith of Oklahoma City and Joe Smith of Wheeler; a daughter, Jennifer Smith of Shamrock; a brother, Bill Smith of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Winfred Bois Barbee HEDLEY - Winfred Bois "Pete" Barbee, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services were at 11 a.m. today in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories in Clarendon with Bright Newhouse, minister of Hedley Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Nocona Cemetery. Mr. Barbee was born in Memphis. He lived in Nocona, where he owned and operated a grocery store until his retirement. He moved to Clarendon from Nocona and then moved to Hedley seven years ago. Mr. Barbee was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Hedley Church of Christ. He married Gladys Lee in 1949 at Nocona. She preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Pearlie Aduddell of Claude and Willie Creager of Perryton.
