Mrs. Taylor was born and raised in Terrell. She moved to Pampa in 1945. She was a housekeeper for C.R. Hoover before retiring in 1983. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was president of the usher board. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Wesley Taylor in 1945 at Pampa. He died in 1965. She also was preceded in death by a son, Claude Steele, on Jan. 4. Survivors include three sons, Clyde Steele of Denver, Bobby Bryant of San Antonio and James Taylor of Pampa; four sisters, Neomi Neal and Lorine Anderson, both of Pampa, Kathren Overstreet of Dallas and Henrietta Bryant of Terrell; a brother, John T. Jackson of Terrell; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Elva C. Chisum Poore MIAMI, Texas - Elva C. Chisum Poore, 89, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Poore was born in Roberts County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Robert E. Poore in 1927 at Miami. He died in 1964. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Poore, in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Hardin of Houston and Beverly Bobo of Miami; two sons, Bobby Poore of Enid, Okla., and Troy Poore of Miami; a brother, Thurman Chisum of Miami; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mr. Nixson was born in Collingsworth County, near the Dozier community. He lived in the Dozier community until 1960, when he moved to Shamrock. He was a Methodist. Survivors include two sisters, Susie Bradstreet of Shamrock and Maybelle White of Amarillo. Lorenza Shaw HEREFORD - Lorenza Shaw, 83, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998. Mr. Shaw was born in Boswell, Okla. He moved from Boswell to Deaf Smith County in 1950. He was a feedlot worker and a member of Avenue Baptist Church. He married Elsie Davis in 1940 at Telephone. She died in 1981. He was a farmer and a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was Hereford's professional Santa Claus for more than 60 years. He married Corene Julian in 1935 at Plainview. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Julian R. Gandy of Hereford and Troy M. Gandy of Modesto, Calif.; two daughters, Earle Dean Lowry of Houston and Glenna F. Bell of Pampa; a brother, George S. Burial will be in Seagraves Cemetery in Seagraves by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mrs. Riley was born in Buxton, Iowa. She moved from Illinois to Texas in 1935. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1994 from Brownfield. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Seagraves and the Dorcas Sunday School class. She married Forest Knop Riley in 1934 at Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband and by a daughter, Charlene Smith, in 1985. Survivors include two sisters, Gertrude Jacobs of Hodgkins, Ill., and Jessie Gillies of Homewood, Ill.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Paul Pohlmeier NAZARETH - Paul Pohlmeier, 83, a former Nazareth resident, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, in Knox City. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today in the CCD Building. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Jerry Stein, pastor, and the Rev. John Hickey, associate pastor. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mr. Pohlmeier was born and raised in Nazareth and attended school there. He joined the Air Corps in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He returned to Nazareth to farm. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Nazareth Senior Citizens and the American Legion. Mr. Pohlmeier had lived in Knox City for the past three years. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Jacob Acker of Nazareth; and five brothers, Harold Pohlmeier of Corpus Christi, Virgil Pohlmeier of Tulia, Philip Pohlmeier and Leroy Pohlmeier, both of Nazareth, and Alfred Pohlmeier of California. Mr. Raborn was born in Chico and moved to Plainview in 1947. He was the owner of Haynes Machinery and Raborn Pumps. He also had been a partner in a Ford dealership in Dimmitt. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the NRA and the Boy Scouts. Mr. Raborn married Mary Elizabeth Raborn in 1937 at McCloan, Okla. She died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Robin Hinn of Lubbock; a sister, Ruth Raborn of San Diego; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Frankie Ann Critchfield PLAINVIEW - Frankie Ann Critchfield, 39, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Richard Emmerson officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Critchfield was born and raised in Plainview and attended Plainview schools. She volunteered for nine years with the Meals on Wheels program. She married Shawn Critchfield in 1982 at Plainview. Wilda Garnett Crow QUANAH - Wilda Garnett Crow, 76, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. John Spangler, minister of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Crow was born in North Platte, Neb., and had lived in Quanah for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Dan Elmer Crow in 1963 at Quanah. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by a son, Bill Brewer. Survivors include five sons, Robert Holt of Eldorado, Okla., Johnny Holt of Paris, Texas, David Holt of Hollis, Okla., Mitchel Gilbert of Kentucky and Daniel Crow of Palestine; a daughter, Wilda Sue Mensch of Lubbock; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mr. Driver was born in Eldorado, Okla. He had lived in Hardeman County for most of his life except five years he spent farming in Oklahoma. He retired from Georgia Pacific. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Duke, Okla. He married Jewel Birdwell in 1935. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jack Driver and Clyde Driver, both of Andrews, Thomas Driver of Clyde and David Driver of Quanah; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and member of South Georgia Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Morgan Rust, in 1973; and by her second husband, Albert Moore, in 1993. Lillian Maurine Nisbett Sims Lillian Maurine Nisbett Sims, 85, a former longtime Amarillo resident, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in Madison, Wis. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Moundville United Methodist Church in Moundville, Ala. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery in Moundville. Mrs. Sims was born in Nez Perce, Idaho. She was raised in Grenville, N.M., and Amarillo, where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1928. She attended Texas College for Women at Denton for three years. In 1936, she married Harry Otis Sims in Amarillo. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1940 and to Little Rock, Ark., in 1944. While living in Little Rock, she was active in the Parent Teachers Association, serving as president of Franklin Elementary PTA. She also was active in Winfield Methodist Church. In 1954, they returned to Oklahoma City, where she attended First Methodist Church. In the late 1950s, she returned to college, attending Central State College at Edmond, Okla. She graduated in 1960 with a degree in education. She taught for five years at Mayfield Elementary School in Oklahoma City. In 1983, she and her husband moved to Cary, N.C. Mr. Sims died in 1993. After his death, Mrs. Sims lived in Alexandria, Va., Madison and Cary. Survivors include three children, Harry Sims of Cary, Judy Reed of Madison and Marlene Walker of Alexandria; a brother, Joe Gene Nisbett of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. Ernest Ray Boyer Ernest "Ernie" Ray Boyer, 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998. She moved to Apple Valley five years ago from Weatherford, Texas. She retired from civil service after working for 18 years. She was a member of Apple Valley Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon A. Barton, in 1991. She married John Spees in 1992 at Weatherford. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Kingston Cemetery at Kingston. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Armstrong was born near Des Moines, N.M. He moved with his family to Whitesboro, Texas, and later to Shay, where he attended school. He graduated from high school at Kingston. He married Muriel Lancaster in 1940 at Tishomingo. Mr. Armstrong served with Patton's Third Army during World War II in the European Theater. After being honorably discharged, he and his family lived in Kingston. They moved to Cimarron County in 1946. He farmed near the Texas state line for many years. He and his family then moved into Boise City, where he worked as a brick mason. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerry Fran Armstrong. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jordan Armstrong of Sunset, Utah, Edward Armstrong of Boise City and Bruce Armstrong of Oklahoma; three brothers, Ray Armstrong and Irwin Armstrong, both of Kingston, and Lelan Armstrong of Casper, Wyo.; a sister, Imogene Scott of Boise City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
