Jonadel Edwards Wood Jonadel Edwards Wood, 87, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wesley Comrades Sunday School class. She married Robert Glenn Wood in 1933. He died in 1993. Geraldine B. Arnold Daniel Geraldine B. Arnold Daniel, 66, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998. He moved to Canyon and completed school there. He then attended West Texas State University. He worked in Amarillo as a chef for Bob Dowell's Restaurant. He then worked as a manger for Meyers Fried Chicken, which eventually became The Drumstick. He later worked for Grace Christian Academy and Trinity Lutheran Christian School. Mr. Henson was a member of Southwest Baptist Church, where he served as secretary-treasurer for many years. He married Nan Neal in 1931 at Clovis, N.M. Virgie Edwards Virgie "Grannie" Edwards, 92, a former resident of Elk City, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998. Mr. Carthel was born in Lockney and had been a lifelong Lockney resident. He attended school at Prairie Chapel. He married Irene Harrison in 1927 at Lockney. She died in 1958. He married Wanda Woody in 1960 at Lockney. Mr. Carthel was a deputy sheriff for the Floyd County Sheriff's Office for 17 years before retiring in 1975. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 867 and the Lockney Senior Citizens. He also was a member of West College and Third Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Carthel, on Dec. 18. Mr. Call retired in 1982 as a gas tester for Cities Service Oil Co. He was a member of the Pampa Chapter of the Knights of Pythias and the Elks Lodge in Carmichael, Calif. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of First Baptist Church in Silverton. He married Ollie Lee "Myrt" Campbell in 1924 at Deport. She preceded him in death in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Earlyne Hutsell of Silverton; a son, Dick Guest of Lubbock; a brother, Gobel Guest of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Annie Mae Dickson of Brownfield; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity or the First Baptist Church in Silverton. Area Greg Elliott SPEARMAN - Greg Elliott, 20, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Spearman High School Auditorium with the Rev. Ken Cole, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Spearman. Mr. Elliott was born in Guymon, Okla., and lived in the area his entire life. He was a 1996 graduate of Spearman High School where he played football and basketball, and ran track. He was elected "Most Friendly" his senior year. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, past president of United Methodist Youth, and attended Texas Tech University. Survivors include his parents, Charles and Melanie Elliott of Spearman and Diane and B.J. Davis of Amarillo; three sisters, Taydawn Hawkins of Amarillo, and Michele Janzen and Amber Elliott, both of Spearman; three brothers, David Davis, Andy Davis and Jeremy Davis, all of Amarillo; his grandparents, Charles W. and June Elliott of Amarillo and Ronnie and Colleen Schaefer of Spearman; and a his fiance, Gina Kunselman. The family requests memorials be to the Spearman Athletic Boosters Club Scholarship Fund or the American Heart Association. Robert F. Wilson CHANNING - Robert F. "Bob" Wilson, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Royce Mason, former pastor, and the Rev. Mike Robinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Wilson was born in Lexington, Tenn. He had been a resident of Channing for 34 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a sonar man on the USS SC744 which was sunk by a Kamikaze plane in the Leyte Gulf in 1943. Mr. Wilson had been an employee of Southwestern Public Service from 1946 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Jean Futrell in 1946 at Dalhart. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sherry Luckett of Midland, Kay Tylor of Palacios and Cindy Proffitt of Dalhart; three brothers, S.E. Wilson Jr. of California, Mike Stubblebine of Alexandria, VA., and Patrick Stubblebine of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will be at 721 Rosine. Annie Hazel Wade PAMPA - Annie Hazel Wade, 92, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service in Woodward. Mrs. Wade was born in Coleman County. She had been a Pampa area resident for most of her married life. She was a homemaker and foster mother. She married Audie B. Wade in 1922. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a son, Sam B. Wade. Survivors include three daughters, Eycile Young of Woodward, Okla., Montez Kirbie of Merced, Calif., and Vontell Pryor of Bakersfield, Calif.; a son, Wilbert Wade of Grand Prairie; five grandsons and a granddaughter; six greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Viewing will be through Monday at the funeral home then will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Briarwood Assembly of God Church in Pampa. New Mexico Travis Michael Shugart CLAYTON, N.M. - Travis Michael Shugart, 55, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Shugart was born in Amarillo. The family moved to the Farley-Gladstone area from Masterson, Texas. He graduated from Farley High School in 1960. He received his associate's degree from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1963 and joined the Army in 1964. He served more than three years in military intelligence with tours of duty that included Washington, D.C. He also served with the Southern Command with tours of duty including South America and Central America. Mr. Shugart married Susan Watters in 1972 at Tucumcari. In 1973, they moved to Santa Fe, where Mr. Shugart had been working as a special investigator for the Corporation Commission until recently. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Justin Shugart and Michael Shugart, both of Rio Rancho; his parents, Jesse and Bonnie Shugart of Gladstone; a sister, Teresa Brown of Tucumcari; and a brother, Dennis Shugart of Dalhart, Texas. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Harold A. Knighton CLOVIS, N.M. - Harold A. Knighton, 84, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas P. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Knighton was born in Stamps, Ark., and had been a Clovis resident since 1945. Mr. Knighton was a World War II veteran. He was assigned to the 200th National Guard from Clovis then served in the Philippines with the Army. He was a survivor of Bataan's Death March and was a prisoner of war for three years. Mr. Knighton retired from the Postal Service in 1974. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ex POW's, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Knighton; a son, Terry L. Knighton of Grants; and two grandsons. Bonnie Marie Luther CLOVIS, N.M. - Bonnie Marie Luther, 70, a former resident of Salina, Kan., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salinas, Kan., with the Rev. Rick Just officiating. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Kan. Local arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Luther was born in Council Grove, Kan. She was a former resident of Salina and was a Clovis resident for the past two years. She owned B & R Ranch Worm Farm with her husband. She had been employed by Oscar's Flowers in Salina and by Tony's Pizza for 14 years. Mrs. Luther was a former member of Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Salina, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, volunteer for Salvation Army, nurses aid for St. John's Hospital, and den mother for the Cub Scouts. She was a homemaker. She married Ralph G. Luther in 1946 at Wichita, Kan. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Marie Throckmorton of Wamego, Kan., and Elsie Marie Simmons of Manhattan, Kan.; three sons, Ralph G. Luther Jr., Floyd C. Luther, and Martin G. Luther, all of Salina; two sisters, Helen Janicke and Jean Albright, both of Salina; two brothers, Leo Baxter of Wichita and Leon Baxter of Salina; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
